Wow, I can hardly believe I've made it to about 14 months. I'm technically a week off, but since I have tomorrow off of work and my hair is behaving itself I figured staying up late to do this wasn't such a bad idea.
As I've said before, thanks to everyone on this board for all of the support and information. You guys (and gals) are great!
One from the front. It's too thick to really tuck behind my ears unless it's in a tail, so this is my typical "loose" look.
One from the back. I really like how it's getting a nice "U" shape.
Side view. In some ways it feels "long" because I have far more hair than I've had in years, but I'm still eagerly awaiting for that constant "on the shoulders feeling."
Ponytail. This is how I typically wear it, especially at work (stupid collared shirts). Thankfully when most of it's pulled back I can fit the bangs behind my ears. They don't really stay all that well, but it works for the most part.
My usual Kung Fu look. Bandanas are so cool! I think I would've gone crazy without them.
So that's my 14 month update. Comments and advice are appreciated as always. Good luck to everyone starting school again!
Mouse
Excellent progress at 14 months Mouse!! Beautiful rich, color, lustrous shine, perfect full waves. Well done!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Thanks Bruce!
Mouse
Looking great as usual. I love your color. Congrats on 14 months!
Your brother in waviness,
Allen
Thanks, and "O brother [in waviness] where art thou?" Aren't you due for an update?
Mouse
Indeed I am, thanks for asking. However, my progress has seemingly come to a screeching halt because my hair is now growing around in spirals rather than down towards the floor. Oh well.
Well, curls are cool, and it has to go downward SOMEDAY. I'm sure things will take care of themselves in the end. What your hair may not be gaining in (apparent) length, its making up for with character.
Mouse
Hey. Looking goods. Especially the tail. Congrats on 14 months!
Kyle
Thanks! The tail is distinctly less-scruffy than a few months ago which is VERY helpful for finishing out the awkward stage.
Mouse
Looking Great!!!!!!
The time flies much faster now that a tail can be comfortably made.
peace
clayton
It certainly does! Thanks for the compliment!
Mouse
Mouse, Beautiful red curls. Thanks for sharing.
peace, jonalbear
Thanks, Jonalbear! They are beautiful until I embrace my inner red-head...and activate the Irish temper. Then, look out! :-)
Fantastic hair, Mouse; the shape and the color are good ;)
Bye
Vivien
I'd been worried about the shape, but just like the experienced guys on this board say, it seems to take care of itself.
Thanks!
Mouse
Awesome update, Mouse! I can't believe it's been 14 months already either. I still remember when you first started. It seems like yesterday! You've come a really long way and all is looking great. Your hair looks incredibly healthy and thick. Congratulations! Keep that beautiful hair growing.
~Chris H
It's really hard to believe that a year ago my hair was super short and I had no intention of growing it out. In fact, I was probably contemplating a haircut!
Thanks for the encouragement, Chris, and good luck with the curls.
Mouse
Looking great! Keep it growing. :)
Thanks, Erik!
Mouse
I'm diggin the bandana, Mouse! Your hair has certain come a long way, and is looking great. Keep up that wonderful progress, and take care. =)
-James
Bandanas are my saving grace. :-)
Thanks, James! Good luck with classes!
Mouse
Looking good, actually your hair really does seem a lot like mine, keep up the effort!
Matt
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the similarities. It's nice to have a perview of what my mane might look like.
Thanks!
Mouse
Your hair is coming along well, Mouse. It will get easier to manage with added length. Keep growing it.
Scott
Thanks, Scott! It's getting easier to deal with everyday. When I started on this journey I'd figured that where I'm at now would be plenty of length. Now, probably due to the inspiration provided by this board, I want more...
Mouse
This is a very impressive progression considering where you started! When I saw your first update I never would have guessed you had such a nice color, thickness, or texture. It's very fitting, and I hope you'll experience that "on the shoulders feeling" soon enough.
Really, I love that color.
I like the color too...and I have a temper to match sometimes. :-)
Thanks!
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
I am absolutely delighted to see another update from you! Your hair is looking just fabulous these days, it is thick, healthy, shiny, has the most lovely waves, and the colour is outstanding. Your hair grows very quickly as well. Also, I should add that you are a very pretty young woman, I hope you don't mind my saying so.
It has been a genuine pleasure having you with us on the hyperboard. Ever since you joined, I have enjoyed watching your progress, and the fact that you always have encouraging words for everyone makes it a real joy to have you with us. I will be eagerly following your future jouney as your hair gets longer and longer.
My very best to you,
David
David,
You're always so encouraging as well. Thank you. I'm still getting used to the "pretty" thing to be honest. I'm flattered, but I spent so many years rather "gruff" looking that sometimes I forget that I have a more "inviting" appearance now. Not bad, just new.
So when do we get to see an update from you?
Mouse
Your hair looks wonderful with those thick waves and curls! Keep up the good work!
Actually, I think it's the LACK of work that makes my hair look nice. No harsh chemicals or dyes, no straightening/perming, no blasting it each morning with a hot blow dryer...I just keep it clean and as free of tangles as I can. Much simpler that way.
Thanks!
Mouse
I really like the bandana look! Advise? With hair like yours, I'm in no position to advise, --- yours is PERFECTION!!!
Take care, and keep those gorgeous red waves a-flowin'!!
- Ken
Perfection!? You're going to make me turn the same color as my hair. :-P
Thanks, Ken!
Mouse
Excellent update mouse, the side profile with the ponytail is great - really suits your face well. The length and colour are tremendous, before you know it it will be 2 years!
Regards Dave
Thanks, Dave! I hope you're right about the 2-years thing, but this year IS already going by "faster" than last year. The tail helps. :-)
Mouse
You have lots of tremendous shine to your hair Mouse, and I really do love that color! Looking great now and I can't wait to see it when it gets longer! Long red hair flying and Kung Fu action, that will be cool! :)
Great progress Mouse!
Thanks, Chris!
I have a good role model for kung fu and hair too. One of my instructors has thick wavy hair halfway down her back and very rarely restrains it in class. When the bangs get long enough, I'll consider that option.
The Dangerous [to herself] Rodent.
Hey Mouse..
Great update! Your hair is looking fabulous.. I can't believe how long its become in the last few months.. You must be very pleased. I like the ponytail look on you. The friends you haven't seen in a long time are gonna flip when they see you again... Keep up the great work..
Be Blessed..
Tristan
Thanks, Tristan! I'm very happy with it, and enjoying the journey...and I'm hoping for much flipping from friends. :-)
Keep it growing, and try to surprise some people!
Mouse
Beautiful, Mouse! Your hair's thickness and color are outstanding.
Thanks, Jason! Coming from someone with thick, beautiful hair that means a lot.
Mouse
What a terrifick update Mouse! I didn't even know you hair was this long already, it looks great and just keeps getting better and better with each month, you're certainly a born longhair!:D
Take care!
Simon
Well, if we want to get technical, I was born with pretty much zero hair. :-) I'm making up for it now, though.
Thanks, Simon! I'm looking forward to your continued progress as well.
Mouse
Hello Mouse
That's a great update your hair is looking fabulous, nice color and shine !
i hope you will let it grow more and more until you have a looooong mane behind your back.
Cya
ps: sorry all but i dont come oftent these time beceause of school restarting and guita exams...
My hair journal
Thanks, Angel! Not sure how long I'll let it get, but I do know that I'm not there yet...and every inch I obtain seemes to be followed by a desire for more length.
Mouse
Congrats on reaching 14 months! You and your hair look absolutely fantastic together. It's really thick and awesome looking--not to mention that your ponytail shots are really great as well. Keep it growing, for sure! :)
thanks, Brandon! Yes...as a friend told me a few months ago I "don't lack for hair."
Mouse
Hi Mouse, You and the hair are looking great these days. I can imagine that you must really be satisfied with the way your hair is turning out. And well you should be! The color is great. Cool kung-fu pose too!
MB
Thanks, Matt! I AM very pleased with it (virtually all of the time at least). I'm very vicious in kung fu too...very ferocious...very...small. I look best when posing since fleeing from some massive guy attacking me just isn't as photo-worthy. :-)
Mouse
looking great!! get that hair growing
Yes sir! Okay little hair strands, aim for the floor!
Thanks,
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
Your hair is doing very well for 14 months and it's looking great! Great thickness, colour and texture. Keep it up and you will have great long hair!
Neil
Thanks, Neil! I'm nowhere near you in terms of thickness, but I'll take what I've got!
Mouse
Hey Mouse: Wow, what a great head of thick, lovely hair. And it couldn't happen to a nicer MLHH "member." I remember your first couple of posts. Guess it's true what they say, time flies when you're having fun. Enjoy and hopefully that full-time shoulder thing will be just around the next bend in the long-hair road.
(corny I know...lol) Bruce'ster
Corny is allowed...I've become immune to such things due to my father's corny humor, :-)
Time does seem to fly, and I'm definitely having fun with this. Thanks, Bruce!
Mouse
Hi Mouse
Your hair was behaving and looks fantastic when it behaves for you although I bet it looks good even when it's naughty. Look forward to your next update.
Kevin
LOL! Thanks, Kevin!
Mouse
Look how nice and full your hair is. Yes, the feeling of it brushing your shoulders is awesome. It won't be long now.
Carol
It feels so cool when it slides accross my upper shoulders in the back. I can't wait to have it drape over them. Soon, very soon...
Thanks, Carol! When can we expect some photos of your lovely hair?
Mouse
I know, I know. The pictures kept getting put off due to more pressing (medical) issues. Once I'm done with all this mess (almost there), I can focus on getting some pics taken and uploaded.
Carol
I hope things go well for you, and I'll look forward to those pictures.
Mouse
Wow! That's fabulous, Mouse! I can hardly believe there was a [long' time during which you had really short hair. This look is so befitting.
(I also think you have some AWESOME colour and shine!)
It is great having you around.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
If I'd known it would look like this I might've grown it out years ago...but now is the correct time so I'm enjoying the process.
Thanks, Shawn! How's the teaching going?
Mouse
Mouse! I still say you're a red-head, being that half of my family is fair-complected and red-headed; well, okay, I'll concede . . . you're an auburn-head, maybe even chestnut-head ( *grin* ) Beautiful, lovely results, and so full and WAVY! Very ace, Mouse. You're to be commended on such finesse and style, esp. whenafter, as you've said, having been one of those cool short-haired girls most of your life. I recall that, back in school, a lot of the coolest, most progressive families had girls whose hair was short, whereas the boys were allowed longer lengths in the same families. Your achievement is truly admirable, Mouse!
Keep up the good work!
Quenyan
P.S. ~ Are you a Black Belt? Just wonderin' . . .
Thanks, Quenyan! I DO seem to be getting more comments about being a red-head lately. It seems that during the initial part of the awkward phase my hair reflected the light differently (I even had some friends comment that it didn't look as reddish as when it was super-short). Now that it's going "down" I'm back to more reddish highlights.
I've been involved in martial arts for about 14 years. I got my black belt in [sport] tae kwon do before finishing high school, stayed at the same school as it shifted from tae kwon do to moare of a mixed style, left about a year ago to pursue something else, and now I have a green sash in kung fu. A black belt is an accomplishment, but it doesn't mean much on its own. It's really just the beginning to more learning.
Ever done any martial arts yourself?
Mouse
Hey, sorry for being so late! I've been pretty busy at college lately. Anyway, your hair looks brilliant! It's so healthy-looking and shiny, and it looks quite natural on you. The ponytail suits you well, but I still think the half-tail you showed in your previous update is the best style of all.
Keep up the awesome work!
Peace
Thanks! I don't go with the halftail too often since I like having it off my neck (stupid humidity...and collared shirts). That, and I really can't get all of the bangs into the binder yet unless I tie it super high on my head (which doesn't help much with managing the mane). Sometimes though I'll put in a high halftail and then throw the remaining hair in a second tail. It looks kinda like a low mowhawk. :-) Not something I wear to work, but it helps when I'm around the house if I don't want to wear a bandana.
I'm sure another six months will make it a favorite style.
Good luck with school! What are you majoring in by chance?
Mouse
I'm an English major, specializing in creative writing. Right now, I'm mainly taking lit. classes, though, and the amount of reading each assigns is pure, unadulterated evil. I hope I make it to next semester in one piece, lol.
Thanks for asking.
Peace
Hey, I majored in English too! Good luck with all the reading...
no pics with the new renfest hair doohickies? i was hoping to see those.
your hair is looking great, though! the last pic is my favorite - watch out for mighty mouse!
peace,
nic
Actually, those are my birthday presents, so I don't get them until later this month. I'm terribly hard to buy for, so my mom told me that if I bought myself something at the Ren Fest she'd pay me back and make it a birthday present. The only catch is that I had to give them up for the time being.
Thanks, Nic! How's the kitten doing?
Mouse
nic answered this question in an earlier thread. Link is below.
Carol
Thank you, Carol.
I'm so sorry Nic. At least you gave him a fighting chance.
