i am 18 years old, and am severely worried about balding.....call it paranoia.....
my dad is bald, but both grandfathers have long hair....shoulder length...
i am regrowing my hair for the third time, after haveing long chest length hair twice......for a while now i have been going through stages of depression and stress, and am now noticing some thinning hairs at my hairline.....and this is scaring me
does anyone have any advice

There are a ton of factors that could cause thinning hair. How's your diet? Do you excersize? Are you drinking enough watter? What kind of hair products do you use? Are you feeling ill? My point is, at 18, though it's possible that it could be due to male patter baldness, it's very unlikley. You said yourself that you are paranoid about balding. Stress can be a key player as well. As for the genectics of baldness, it's not an exact science. Though the trait can come from either side, regardless of the "mom's dad" myth, it is nearly always from a grandfather (maternal, or paternal) so you don't have much to worry about if the have full hair. Your dad was the one who got the raw deal, you should be fine. Try not to worry about it, and just eat right, stay fit, take care of your hair, and all will be well.

At this point (unless you have been doing so) I would say to see your doctor so as to know what REALLY is going on.
