(Please disregard my first post)
Hello everyone, how's it going? I see a TON of new faces around here (I haven't been around much lately), but there are a lot of faces I definitely recognize. For those of you who don't know me, I used to be a pretty active member of this board and had been growing my hair out for about three years and had it about midway down my back.
However, notice that I said "had."
Yup, I cut it all off. But guess what? I love it! Now don't get me wrong, I LOVED having long hair - it was straight, blond, and behaved quite well. It also set me apart from a lottttt of people where I go to school (LSU). Anyone from Louisiana would understand exactly what I'm talking about.
Anyways, to make a long story short, back in mid May, I decided to cut it all off. I donated it to Locks Of Love, which made me feel really good, knowing that my hair was going toward a good cause. Now to explain why I cut it off is quite simple: I was getting tired of it. It's ridiculously hot where I live (Central Florida/ Louisiana) and the long hair was not helping at all with that. Plus, I've really gotten into running in the past eight months, so the short hair better suits my needs.
I was also having some trouble finding a job. As soon as I cut it off, I instantly got a job at Disney (the ultimate long hair enemy) and had a blast working as a lifeguard throughout the summer!
The final reason is that I'm losing my hair to MPB and short hair just suits me better. In about five years, more or less, I'm probably gonna look like Jason Statham - it's all good though, he played Handsome Rob!
Anyways, sorry for the long post - I hope some of you read it. To sum it up, I am really glad I cut my hair - having long hair was really fun while it lasted, but it was time for a change. Showers are SOOO much easier now! I posted some before and after pictures for those who don't know me. And I'm sure I'll still pop in every once in a while - I've been a member of this site for a long time (about three years), so I know I can at least offer some good feedback for new growers.

So what do you think? :)
Weston,
What do I think? Well you asked. You are handsome with short hair, and I think for the first time that I saw you. but it is a mistake to attribute your getting a job to the hair cut. Observing you over time, I have always thought that your beautiful blond hair and the beard were too much from a purely aesthetic perspective. You disappeared under all of it.
I have a beard and moustache, and mercifully my hair is getting longer, if thinner.
My prediction is that after some time, your hair will gradually get longer, and perhaps you might add a short beard and a neatly trimmed moustache, but the wish to have long hair has not diappeared, and second time around you will be able to manage it so that you become an executive at Disney.
Well, you asked what I thought.

Do I remember you?....yes!!! and I do remember seeing you in from of Howe-Russel (geology building) last semester but didnt want to say anything as I was running late and didnt think you would know who I was. Yup, I go to LSU. Now without the hair it will be impossible for me to pic you out. But heck, if you happen to see me at all give me a shout. I ALWAYS wear a tie-dye shirt and my hair is getting towards my lower back.......literaly, you cant miss me.
Im glad you cut your hair. It may sound wierd as this is a long-hair board, but I always enjoy hearing about someone who finds who they truly are....regardless of hair.
peace

I'm one of those 'newbies', but I haven't gotten around to putting up the 'face' yet. Well, as long as you are happy, and have no regrets. As to the MPB, there are ways to combat that beast. So, you might want to consider that for your future. You may choose to return to longhairdom in your future as well.
Carol
It really looks great on you with the new do. I also want to congratlate you on your recent job. You have come fulll circle and looked at the glass full instead of halffull which i admire your honesty. good luck in your job search and future.
Hello !
It's good to see that you don't feel bad with hair & haircut. When I read you, the word "easy" comes to my mind ;)
So, good bye & good luck
Vivien
Actually thank you I did enjoy reading your post it was upbeat and positive. I'm one of the fairly new ones but I remember you from my lurking days.
Your reasons and attitude absolutely make sense hair in itself does not define who we are it is merely a part of the equation and that is subject to change. I'm glad things are loking up for you and feel free to pop in from time to time as a longhair alumni you still have past experiences to share and relate from.
Take Care
Kevin
Hey! Of course i remember you, i always enjoyed reading your posts, it's a pity you cut yout hair, but after all, you have to do what makes you feel best.
By the way, there are two guys here in my city who kinda reminds me of you, one of them has a full head of hair almost the same length and colour as you hair, and one guy who also has long hair but is thinning alot on the top, presumably by MPB, but i think he looked cool anyway even though he's lost much of his hair:)
Take care and hope everything goes well!

I am glad you are not disappointed after cutting your hair. SOme people instantly regret it if they cut it. I have always told people who are thinking of cutting to go for it. There is no better way to see how important long hair is to you than to cut it. Good thing are you pleased.
Thanks for letting us know what you were up to. You may even change your mind down the road, nothing is permanent.
Good luck with work and school :)
I've had a similar experience I hahick wavy blight brown hair which I used to wear a lot in a ponytail. I cut it off three weeks ago. It now a scissor cut short back and sides. I was offered a new job after my haircut. I also have had women talking to me who previously ignored me as a long haired.Did u notice this. Your hair looks great btw. Also what is MPB? and yes showers are much easier Take Care
Tom :)
And you're happy with it, so that's all that matters.
My opinion of it...
Well, you look like Everyone Q. Person now. You've lost some visual identity and I do not see you maintaining much of a visual identity with something else. I could easily mistake you for any of the millions of guys your age with short hair and a style that "fits" in.
Not that it is a bad thing. But I do not like the new look.
I've made a name for myself up here (Louisiana) and plenty of people appreciate me with or without the long hair. I consider myself to have a great personality, so at this point, I don't really need the long hair and the beard to stick out.
At the end of the day you have to do things for yourself and if you are happy with short hair again them good for for you. To be honest I've got longhair and a goatee and I don't think of myself standing put and like alot of other people I have a good personality as well!
you WERE cute. no offense, but average is just so... so... average. but if you really like it, then more power to you.
peace,
nic
Hi Weston,
I have to say that you had the most wonderful head of long hair, shiny, straight, and blonde, and I was rather sad to see it go. I remembered you from before, and I have always thought your hair was some of the best hair there is on the hyperboard, and it had SO much potential!
However, the important thing is that YOU are happy right now, and I sincerely hope you don't have any regrets later on.
I agree that it sucks big time to lose your hair to MPB at such a young age, so I feel for you that way. Ironically, I cannot even detect your thinning in your long hair photos. Remember, that there IS treatment available for MPB. If you see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist, he can prescribe propecia, which can halt MPB in its tracks and even reverse it. It is especially effective for the young.
Anyway, that is all for now, but I wish you the best in success for the future, and be sure to pop in and say hi once in a while.
Take care,
David
My dad had some hair transplant surgery years ago that basically turned out badly, so I always swore I'd never go that route if I lost my hair- I'm just gonna live with it and enjoy what I have :).
Hey, I know that 99 out of 100 guys out there have a simple short haircut and now I'll probably "blend in with the crowd." But you know what? I don't think I will. When you guys look at those pictures, you focus on the hair and the beard. However, that's not the only thing that isn't there anymore.
Along with losing the hair and the beard, I've also lost about 45 lbs of fat and completely transformed my body into that of a chubby couch potato into one of a competing athlete. I run at least six miles a day, I'm so close to a six pack that I can't even believe it, and I feel better than I ever have.
I've switched my attention from growing my hair, which takes no skill or ability, to becoming the best athlete I can possibly come, which takes more hard work than most people can imagine.
I've absolutely worked my butt off for the past 9 months to get into shape, and I'm proud to say that I'm going to be running a marathon in January and feel 100% confident that I'll be able to finish it in a respectable time for it being my first one.
So yeah, I don't see myself as being "average" one bit. I'm still the same person I was before I cut my hair, only now I'm more comfortable (physically) and I'm proud of the body I've earned with loads and loads of hard work.
Hey man, I remember you. One of the few longhair blondes!
I'm sure I'm saying the same thing as everyone else--but I think your hair was much better when it was long. Plus it's incredibly straight.. I'd kill for that.
Although I've been exactly in your position before, so I don't blame you for cutting it. I almost did for those exact same reasons of yours, and some others. Things turned around for me after while, though, so I kept it (job doesn't mind hair, girlfriend LOVES long hair). Take it easy, man.
glad that your happy dude but personally i like the long hair better it suits you way more def i cut my long hair off for an ex and when i cut it i deeply regreted it so now im in the process of getting it back its been about half a year now and the next 6 months ill have shoulder lenth hair and i cant wait, short hair looks stupid on me haha
You feel good about yourself and your appearance. You've lost a lot of weight. You've got a new look and a new attitude. You've got so much to be proud of. I commend you on your weight loss efforts. I like the new look. Your new self confidence shows so much, especially in that last picture.
You had AWESOME hair... I don't like the new look, but I loved the old (whatever thats worth). But I hope you really don't give 2 shits about what I think. Whatever works for you dude. Glad your happy.
