Hey everybody, I've been thinking about facial hair a bit recently, specifically the mustache. Personally, I would love to grow a handlebar or similar style, but my relatively young age and lacking facial hair prowess says otherwise.
What is it about this particular style that seems to get such attention (both good and bad)? Why does it seem so enigmatic and unique among other styles of facial hair, such as a beard, goatee, chinstrap, long sideburns, etc? Am I simply imagining this special attention, or does anyone else agree with me to some degree?
I personally also think facial hair looks just as good on curly-haired men as those with more straight/wavy hair. It seems to compliment the fact that curls explicitly "frame" one's face in a manner of speaking.
Members who sport their own mustache are especially welcome for input. Here's to one of nature's greatest gifts to mankind... THE 'STACHE!
Peace,
Ryan
Wow, the Dali is a great look. Sure, they still exist among some small percentage of the male populace, but its a real shame that the elaborate mustache has been confined to the specialized interests of a few these days. Maybe there will be a resurgence...
Moustaches are really cool. I´d say go for it, you´ll never know exatly how thick it´ll become until you´ve tried. And if it looks like crap, well, give the razor a few mins and you´ll be back to your old self.
I'll admit, I haven't committed to a really long-term trial of facial hair, but I did try going for about four weeks with no shaving and there were far too many areas of my face with no growth at all for it to look decent (besides the fact that the actual hairs never grew particularly long).
When I used to have a goatee, it took me at least three months to get it decent looking. So I´d say hang in there. :)
It's a trickey one to pull off, as far as I can tell if you can pull it off it looks great, ala James Hetfield or Mark "Chopper" Reid.
