Hey my MANE men! i am curious to know what you fellow riders do to keep your hair comfortable under the confines of a helmet? Currently i use a half helmet, but due to some close calls i want to buy a full face one. Of course my concern is what the heck to do with my hair...thanks for the suggestions in advance!
I've had long hair for ages and just started dreadlocks. I myself found it easier to use a Buff to spot my hair getting court in air holes!
I have to wear a bandana to kep my hait from getting caught in the helmet. I also braid it to keep from getting some nasty tangles.

This is what I usually do. My hair's grown quite a bit since this was taken and I'm at the point where I've got to start thinking about something else...

Thanks for the pic Rick! Hmm doesnt look to bad, quick question do you find the helmet pulling on the hair or vice versa? Also have you noticed more broken hairs in that area where the base of the helmet lies?
The only thing I do different is to put the tail a little lower than normal otherwise the helmets 'sits' on the tail instead of going on my head fully. I haven't noticed any loose or broken hairs at all. Having the tail out means spending a little more time gets the tangles out VERY carefully!

Hi Rick, and CK,
maybe you could wear the ponytail under the jacket? Or put more ties in it. But more important, somewhere on the internet, I saw for sale, special ties for bikers, they were around 4 or 6 inches long and wrapped around the tail. maybe the helmet could rest on something that long and not do any hair damage.
I found this site while browsing through google once:

That seems like a practical thing to keep the hair secured while you're out cruising.
Hey Brother: I ride a Vulcan Classic: laced wheels, white walls, full fenders, etc. I have thick hair and as it got longer it started tangling bad!!! I now put it in a tail first, then I use a "hair glove" (2 inch - but I need a 4 or 6 inch these days) and then another tie towards the end of the tail. My ponytail is about 7 in so that leaves just a little (1 or 2 in) end piece hanging out. It doesn't tangle any more. I also put it in a braid sometimes. That's what I prefer. I posted a pic a month or so ago (see Bruce's Braid) Hope that helps. Ride On - Bruce'ste
Heya Brucester, sounds like a nice ride you got there. I currently have a Triumph Bonneville T-100 'cept for some brown saddle bags it is stock. That hairglove looks like a good option ill have to pick one up and try it! Thanks.
