I hope to grow my hair out to this length and I would appreciate any suggestions regarding how to style it that way and grow it out that way.
Thanks.
The guy in the photo is growing out a layered cut (obvious that hair at nape not all one length) with the bangs/fringe shorter (drop only to just below ears). To achieve this "look", just let hair grow--without any trimming whatsoever. Comb hair straight back, allow natural part to determine "split", comb sides and back straight down from "split"--without touching bang/fringe area (this allows front hair to flow back off face and form natural waves down the sides rather than falling forward into the eyes). Good luck!
Is a layered cut almost the same as a fade on the sides and having nothing done on the top? Also thanks for the help.
Just so we are using the same terminology, in my neighborhood a fade means clipper-short on sides and back blended to whatever length (an inch to several inches)on top. A layered cut means all hair is the same length (3 - 4 inches) all over the head--not to be confused with a "one-length blunt cut" in which the hair, no matter where it starts to grow on the head ends at the same place (hair on top is therefore longest; hair at the nape would be the shortest).
Just curious, CJ...what length/style hair are you starting with right now that you want to develop into the photo's style/length?
Your more than welcome for the assist--glad to help.
I have a number 4 on the sides/back of my head and right now the top of my hair is barely over 2inches, usually just "gelled" back.
