Apparently cracked.com put MLHH on their list of the 8 strangest online communities, ranking it at #7. (Ranking in with icechewing.com)
I don't really want to put up a link to it, as its apparently not moderated, and some users felt the need to post pornography in the comment section. I'm not quite sure on the rules regarding linking to a news story with inappropriate comments, but I'm betting that they're not welcome.
I wouldn't recommend going there or anything, I was just directed there by a digg article. And I don't recommend it for the same reason why I won't put up a link...
The whole point of this being this: Recognition! (Even if its from cracked.com, and negative in intention. I'll still take it as a complement.)
Well, hey, I view it as, "free advertising" for MLHH! Thanks for sharing this info!

Site logs indicate it has been there since late July, and that it brings in 13 hits a day. We get more hits from people who are lost and go to our old location on Victor's web site looking for us, and we moved over a year ago.

Hello all,
Susurrus is right, the replies contains some porn and undesired things to watch. However, I looked up to it, I'm gonna copy and paste the article and the link (It contains porn pictures at the end of the page, enter at your own risk and if you are overage - Not that people really take that warning, but I feel I need to write it).

Men's Long Hair Hyperboard (mlhh.org)
What it is
A "hyperboard" (how old is this site, anyway?) for men to discuss growing, washing, brushing, and wearing long, luxurious locks. Many of the posts take on a defiant tone and mention things like "fighting the good fight," which, we assume, means not getting a haircut.
Excerpt that Sums Up the Community In A Nutshell
Subject: Dry hair - I need your help!
Hello all,
i have a big problem. My hair look shiny and pretty healthy but... when I touch it , it feel darmaticaly DRY ! especialy on the end.
i have tried many things but didn't worked...
here is my routine:
gently brushing my hair before washing it -> baby shampoo (that must'nt be hard wuth hair right ?) -> a lot of conditioner -> cold rinse -> towel dry a bit -> hair dry.
once dry i put a small amount of olive oil in my hair and i gently finger comb and brush my hair gently.
You who have soft hair please help me :(
Why It Makes Us Uncomfortable
There is something just a little off about these guys and their fixation on growing their hair out. To make things worse, they seem to see themselves as waging some sort of imaginary war against a sea of "squares" (read: people who don't rock long hair) who, in all honesty, couldn't care less about these dudes or their immaculately-maintained manes. Plus, does anyone really associate long hair on guys with rebellion anymore? Usually it just means they work at Guitar Center. "

To the average Joe, yeah, this place probably seems a little "out there". I still remember my Dad laughing when I first told him about this board, nearly 8 years ago now.
This part, though, I feel I must confess that I do agree with:
Every time I've ever seen anyone post a message wanting to insight some kind of long-hair rebellion against the mainstream, or, in a more recent case, get their "tyrannical Football coach" fired, my gut reaction has always been to roll my eyes before deciding whether to respond.
LOL!
I definitely have to agree with you there Nyghtfall. This is an unusual place that would be hard to describe to the average man. Even one who frequents here can't really explain it :)
I do believe that with any specialty site there are all sorts of people who frequent it. Here we have a range from the most casual who may stop in every year or so and post an update, on through people like me who like to hang out here primarily because the people on here are a cool group of guys and fun to hang with out and don't really talk about hair all that much, then on to the diehards like Jason :)
I also quite agree with all you said about the rest of the article:
I do tend to think that there are few barriers against long hair anymore, but the truth is that the human rights issues never completely go away. There are still people out there getting hassled for having long hair in schools and in jobs. This shouldn't still be happening, and mostly doesn't anymore, but it still does from time to time here and there. These kind of problems may be infrequent, but not imaginary.
Oh, and specifically, Lupi's football coach may not be a tyrant, but he is still an a***hole!
I liked that Guitar Center part. Other than that though...
First off, I recognize Cracked wrote the article as a comedy piece. Their insight isn't going to be particularly, well, insightful given that they aren't really about taking a good look at this place I'm so fond of. Still, their review makes for some interesting discussion fodder about their assumptions.
Spending time learning hair care information is seen as wasteful according to their backhanded compliment about "immaculately-maintained manes". What, men can't preen? Maybe it is only our "fixation" on long hair that is the problem. So is a man posting on a parenting site is fixated on his offspring? Bet not. By their logic I suppose cracked.com visitors are fixated on simplistic comedy. Why would hair be seen as overtaking life spent away from the hyperboard?
Long hair discrimination seems to be one of those things you wouldn't know about until it happens to you or someone you know. The problems faced by men here are not a mere matter of not getting (deserved!) compliments on their hairstyle. There are real needs addressed here. Besides, a support board really is the ideal place to ask for and get support. A cry of help for dry hair is not as weighty as a call for help in other areas of life, to use that in their sample grab is part of the essence of this place but misses a lot of what else goes on here. The hyperboard encompasses all of life if you read long enough. Hair is just the topic that starts conversations and friendships here. I doubt Cracked can say it plays as useful a role in the lives of their readers.
My take on a typical post here is broader than their quick glance. I'm proud to say the lack of capitalization and spelling accuracy is not a representative sample of the writing here. An average post is an update photo met with honest words of encouragement, people willing to take the time to share their experiences, and heartfelt advice to find whatever makes a man happy with priority given to the person and not his hair. Given how rare support can be on many other board topics the hyperboard is an oddity, but certainly a good one.

Ever since I made the decision to grow my hair out, the only place that I could really go for support was this hyperboard. Unlike many places I've been, the people on this board seem to be kind, understanding, and supportive. What the people of that website don't realize is that we don't grow our hair simply to be different. We do it because it's just the style that we like. They don't know the courage that it takes for a man to keep his hair long when he is constantly insulted and scolded for it. I feel that I am a longhair inside, so when I hear negative remarks about long hair, I take it as someone would take a racial or religious slur. It infuriates me.
hehehe. cracked.com may actually have done us a favor. People ALWAYS seem to want to check out the so called "off the wall things."
Well, may they check us out and enjoy! :-)
