So I started school last week and was surprised to see that one of my friends who had been growing his hair out since December 2004 (upper back), now has just above shoulder length hair! He says his sister cut it for him AFTER he put it in a tail, she cut the part that was the 'tail' and removed the hair tie and the cut was so damn CLEAN and straight. o.O
Like, his hair was turning kinda wavy at the ends but now that part has been cut, his entire hair is straighter and looks more cool, even though it is shorter.
He says that after the cut, his hair length is the same as when he was growing it for 16 months, except that it's more neat/straight instead of being in the annoyingly awkward stage.
So, yeah he's been growing it for 32 months but went for a more 'medium' length instead of REALLY short. Just wanted to ask if there would be any damage while cutting a tail? There didn't seem to be any but I just want to be sure. ;)
Chopping a tail is how they cut long hair short, supposedly. And then they work from there. So, chop chop across the tail and then trimming for style. This eliminates the tedium of cutting each bit of hair and it preserves the ponytail for donation or other use.
I have contemplated this kind of cut once I get a full head ponytail so that my front hair is not coming to a place six inches above my back hair--just chopping at the base of the ponytail.
