Hey i'm over here debating whether I should get a trim. Do they really help in making your hair grow faster?
Nope. They do not make your hair grow any faster but instead just delay your growth by the length of the trim.
...out ot your car give you better gas milegae?
nope!
actually it probably does, heh, car would be so slightly lighter
it's been proven that the more gas there is in your tank, the better mileage you get. try it sometime.
Actually he is right: you would go farther with more gas, but the actual mileage (miles per gallon) theoretically will slightly improve as the gas is used up and the vehicle becomes lighter.
But the greater amount of gas in the tank means a greater pressure of vapors for a more efficient performance. While you are low on gas, the pressure is not as high and so, less efficiency. I think. Well, the vapor pressure thing I know...efficiency, I am not an engineer.
you hit the nail on the head. that is exactly why it works. try it out - keep your tank full and track your mileage. it really is better. i wouldn't advertise it if i hadn't tried it out myself.
I believe you as I keep a full tank and keep track of the MPG
However we should write click and clack the car guys on this one.

One of the oddest forums online meets one of the oddest radio shows on the air. Sign of the apocalypse? I think not. Sign that the world has gone insane? Nah. Strange to think about the gurus of long hair discussing the metaphor of gas mileage and hair growth with the gurus of all things car? You betcha.
This would be true except for the fact that vapor pressure in fuels is regulated by the EPA with standards conforming to ASTM D2.08. Once the vapor pressure reaches the limit, the head pressure will remain the same in the tank regardless of the amount of fuel, as the pressure will not allow additional light ends to come out of the mixture. The vapor pressure limits actually change for winter and summer blends so that only a certain amount of pressure will build in the tank.
In Europe I believe it is regulated by the IP, and by the SAS in Japan.
I am trying to remember back to physical chemistry class...
I think this is what I meant to say when I may have used the wrong words before.
Okay, what I was thinking was a lower volume of the system (because of greater volume of liquid gasoline) and the same amount of vapor trying to fill the growing space. And so, as volume increases, pressure decreases.
You may be thinking of partial pressure...I need to think about it deeper and harder and go back to look at my old notes.
However, the nature of the liquid may only produce pressure up to a certain point at which point it reaches equilibrium with equal rates of change of gas->liquid and liquid->gas. And if this pressure is way below the possible pressure for the space, then it will not change with lowering liquid.
You may in fact be correct.
The pile of hair on the floor will grow faster. :-)
It will if you have split ends.
Actually to rid oneself of a split end has nothing to do with the growth that is occuring, but a split end can sure cause one a whole lot of trouble and should be cut right above the split.
From what I've heard and read on this board among other places, there are only a few reasons to get a trim...
- To get rid of damaged ends (either split or otherwise)
- To cut hair to a desirable length (ie hair is at waist length and you actually prefer it at mid-back)
and that's it. Nothing makes your hair grow faster, it simply may appear to be longer due to certain alterations and procedures.
Peace,
Ryan

By having regular "dustings", you keep the ends healthy by trimming off small splits. If you never trim, you get more and more splits. And the splits you have for a while keep going farther and farther up the hair shaft. If you care at all what your hair looks like, you'll end taking off quite a few inches in the long run to make it look good.
If you don't care what your hair looks like, then I wouldn't worry about.
Well, to some extent this is true; but, not in a literal sense, as hair won't split all the way up to your scalp. The widest split I've ever discovered on my own head of hair, for example, only went up as far as an inch and a half. Currently I am using the "Search & Destroy" method of trimming off my split ends, because that way I can find out where my terminal length is (while still not permitting split ends to accumulate). At some point in time I will probably return to having professional trims again; but not until I find out for sure that I've reached terminal. Also, some guys simply do not get split ends at all, --- which I guess is genetic. I was over at Bill's house one time when Absalom was also there, --- and It took me a long time to find even one tiny split on one of Bill's hairs; and I found none on Absalom's (although he might also be using the Search & Destroy method of keeping after them)...
