I'm sure this may have been asked before but I am kinda new around here.
I compete in amateur bodybuilding and so do alot of my friends. They all have short jock style buzz cuts. They are always trying to talk me into getting one. They always tell me that longhair and big muscles just don't go together. What about WWE wrestler Triple H I tell them.
This guy has been my inspiration for a long time. Though he has worn his hair at various lengths in his career as a wrestler he has never decided to become a shorthair as so many other former longhair WWE stars have. I also think his hair always looks awesome! Not to mention he has a great bodybuilding type physique. Anyone else have a famous longhair that inspires them?
I take my cues from media depictions of heroes and warriors in medieval or fantasy stories. So, as I posted some time ago, characters like Bowen from the movie Dragonheart (he is on the left) and Aragorn from LOTR and depictions of medieval knights.
hell yea dude i love this movie, most of my family came from the UK so very proud of my knight heritage!
Brandon Lee was probably as close to an inspiration for me as anyone. It's just not fair that he died making "The Crow", his best movie.
Brandon just rocked dude ... that was all there was to it..
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the world premier move event for "The Crow" ... it was an experience I tell you.. Never seen so many long haired guys with make-up on in my life...
People onced believed when a person dies a crow carries their soul from the land of the living to the land of the dead... but sometimes... just sometimes...
Sweet pic..

I have two I look up to among many others that we all may know.......Here is picture #1
Thank you Clayton, I am honoured. Here is a photo of it loose which clearly shows the length. It reaches the tops of my knees.
Scott
.....and here is the second picture....
And let me say that everyone else here is also included in my inspiration. I just didnt have the time to collect all the pictures LOL!!!
peace

Hey, famous I'm not, but I'm glad to be an inspiration! I guess that's one reason we're ALL here, and I see a lot of inspiring of each other!
Bill
he was so damn hot when his hair was long!
Alexi Laiho, the lead guitarist and singer in Children of Bodom. I´m a big fan of his music and his guitarplaying.
After seeing the picture of Alexi Laiho, I must say that you and he also share a strong facial resemblance. You look like you could be brothers!
Haha! That´s nice to hear. Maybe I worship him so much that my face is starting to transform into his. :P
Many metal musicians inspire me to grow mine. Jesper Stromblad, Alexi Laiho, all the members of Opeth to name a few. i could make a long list.
Steven Seagal was one of my inspirations, and i dig his movies, especially the older ones:D
And Antonio Banderas from the movie Desperado was another big inspiration for me.
I loved him as Zorro! He's a devout Roman Catholic. But not a traditionalist like Mel Gibson. I point him out to longhair critical Catholics as an example of someone who openly lives his faith, and doesn't chop his hair short, and ask them if they question his faith because he has longhair. This is a guy who takes a yearly pilgrimage to his hometown in Spain, to participate in the Holy Week services with his family.

Antonio was one of my inspirations as well.
guys and girls,
Speaking of inspiring latin type. Here's one from a slightly earlier generation. Lorenzo Llamas.
peace, jonalbear
For hair inspiration, Seagal is just fine, but that's about the only good thing I can say about him... the guy is a complete ass hat. As a person, you seem to be much cooler :)

Oh yeah! What about Tarzan?!
Ravenslocks31, I remember seeing photos of men in history books and being very inspired by the fact that they had longhair.
Buffalo Bill Cody, Zebulon Pike and others!
Here is a picture of Pike!

Also, Rock stars from the 60s like Shawn Phillips, George Harrison, John Mayall and Berry Oakley who's photo is included here. He was the original bass player with the Allman Brothers Band and sang lead vocals on Hoochie Coochie Man. He died in a motorcycle crash more than 30 yrs ago.

I would say early on (early 90's) it was Sean Kinney of Alice and Chains.
Kevin
I think it has to be Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin as I remember them from 1979 at Knebworth and some funny herbs going around!
John.B
Hmmm... I wouldn't necessarily say anyone in particular inspired me initially, but these days I somewhat look up to a few guys with curly hair...
The guys in Anathema all used to sport good looking hair...
and of course the obligatory Chris Cornell post
Willie Nelson, growing long hair since the early 70's and demonstrating the independent spirit that we longhairs all share.
Bruce
Chuck Schuldiner.
May he have a peaceful journey, as he is no longer with us.
R.I.P. Brother Chuck
He inspired me not only as a musician but also as a human being.
He is truly one of metal and music in general's greatest people.

No one in particular.
But I noticed that longhairs usually get gorgeous girlfriends.
Does he have to be real?
ah hell yeh hes definately an inspiration....badass guy like kenshin has to be
I always dreamed for having my hair like Marcus Schenkenberg, or the other guy. Simply gorgeous!
SamsoKera
Because he is such an amazing singer and performer and is known for longer hair and larger body than usual. Kinda a hero for people like me who grow hair long and are not blessed with amazing bodies.
