Hi folks! It has been 21 months exactly since I started growing my hair from a shaved head. I'd like to thank you all for making this possible. If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't have made it this far. Not many pictures. Only 3 backshots to show the length.
Chris! Dude! The hair is looking outstanding. 21 months... thats great. You're almost to the 2 year mark... a major milestone indeed. The hair looks thick and healthy and the ends look fine as well. You should have absolutely no problems continuing your journey my friend.
Special kudos to you for sticking through this living in Florida as well.. I know that can't be easy considering those environmentally "unfriendly" factors that we posted about earlier! Endurance and Patience my friend... success is all but yours!
Be Blessed..
Tristan
ps... I'm glad I was the first to respond to your great post. :)
Thanks a million, Tristan! Your comments put a big smile on my face dude. I suppose I have endured the awkward phase thanks to the MLHH. This place really does keep you motivated. Besides this awesome place, I really desire long hair. It's been hell but as the months go by, I keep realizing that the results are worth the discomfort. Once again, Thank you for your support and genuine opinion. I really do appreciate it man. You are an outstanding dude and I am really glad to have you with us here in the MLHH. Keep it growing, Stay strong, and Be Blessed.
-Chris H
Heey Chris! A great update as always, you hair is getting really long now and looks healthy:)
Also, how's the weather in Miami now, up here in Kiruna we got the first snow combined with rain today, damn sometimes i get so sick of our climate:D
Take care!
Simon
Thanks Simon! The weather down here is terrible as usual. Right now it's about 89°F and feels like 96°F. The humidity is very high today at about 70%. It's a really hot and "hair-unfriendly" day for sure. I'll trade ya' anytime you want Simon! lol. Take care.
P.S When are you posting an update? I'm really looking forward to it.
Thanks for asking, well i plan to post it sometime this week, so maybe on the 20th or 21st:)
Simon
Great progress! I wish I had curls like that.
Jeffrey.
Look at those ringlets! Congrats on 21 months, Chris. You're making some great progress. =)
-James
Thanks James! These little ringlets are quite evil! Thats how they look after I have gone without washing my hair for about 3 or 4 days.
That's some fabulous curl !
keep it growing !
Hey Chris, thats some crazy ringlets you have going there, do you suffer with knots?
Anyway all is looking great and congratulations on keeping the faith thus far.
Regards Dave
Hey nutjob! As a matter of fact, I suffer from severe knots at times. I just hop in the shower and patiently untangle them. Lately I've been spending 15-20 minutes just on the detangling process. It can be very bothersome at times. Here I was, thinking longer = straighter and for me, It's been quite the contrary. I've developed these little evil ringlets! Anyhow, Thanks for the comments matey! Have a good one!
Okay . . . I'm so jealous!!!
I know the curls are a pain the butt (I have friends with similar). But, your hair looks awesome. I want thick curly hair, too!! Why can't I have your genes?!
Thanks for posting.
Banana
Haha! You are correct my friend. The curly hair is indeed a pain in the butt. Thanks for your wonderful comments Banana.
Hi Chris,
What an awesome update! Your curls are looking just fabulous, they are thick and healthy, and they are filled with shine. Your growth rate seems to be picking up these days as well.
I would also like to add that it has been just wonderful having you with us on the team. Also, I would really like to thank you for your continuous support, I don't think you have missed a single one of my updates since I joined.
Keep those curls growing,
David
Hi David! Thank you very much for your honest and warm comments. I feel the same way about working with you. I am very glad that I was given the opportunity to work with the dad of the hyperboard. I don't think you have ever missed any of my updates either. You have been with me every step of the way and for that, I will always be grateful. Thanks and have a good evening David.

¡Hola Señor Hernandez!
You know, if I had all my hair we'd be hair twins! Seriously, looks sensational. I know I always harp on the reddish tints that are in the extremities of your hair, but they are really cool. I guess I like them since I have the same!
Glad all is going well in the hair growing department. Hope other aspects such as getting "zzzz's" are getting better too.
K, see you soon, Bragi
Hola Bragi!
Thanks man. I don't really like the reddish tints that much. I always wanted to have straight Jet Black Hair. Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle for the evil reddish brownish ringlets! I haven't seen your hair lately, How about you do an update? I'm really looking forward to seeing how your hair is doing so far. I bet your ringlets are giving you a hard time as well. Well, See you around Matt.
Chris(Who still has trouble getting to sleep)
THat is some really nice hair. Are the red tones natural? The curly ends give it some real texture. Great shots. Thanks for sharing.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Hey Shawn. Thanks! The reddish tones are natural. My hair color varies. I guess it all depends on the lighting. It usually looks reddish brownish when indoors. When wet, It looks Black and when outdoors it tends to look lighter. Like a honey light brown color. Weird... Anyhow, Thanks Mr.Crow!
P.S Your half tail looks great. It's amazing how you can pull it off with such curly hair. You are definitely an inspiration to us curly heads.
Great update Chris - your hair looks really amazing! Best wishes for future growth!
Thanks Pablo! I saw your update below and Your hair looks amazing as well. Hang in there and keep growing it man.
Hi Chris,
What an amazing update and such a change. You are very lucky to have such great looking curly hair like that and it's really in amazing condition. The pictures really show up the different colours and you should be very proud and always happy to offer encouragement. I wish my hair was more curlier but hey I'm happy with what I've got.
Keep the updates coming and a great inspiration.
Cheers,
John.B
Thank you for the kind words, John. I know I wish I had straight hair but I'm grateful for what I've got. I hope you're feeling better these days, John. Thanks again and have an "awesome" day. haha, Take care.
Chris, Wonderful color and curl! Congratulations!
peace, jonalbear
Hi Chris,
Nice curls you've got there, nice and thick with a nice colour too. Keep it growing mate, your gonna have one hell of a mane!
Neil
Thanks for the encouragement Neil! Believe it or not, You, along with many others inspired me to grow my hair long. I remember saying to myself "If Neil can do it, So can I!" Haha. Thanks mate
your hair looks great! (of course) i love the way the curls bring out the natural highlights. (it makes me sick, actually) now go shave your head so i don't have to be jealous anymore. :)
peace,
nic
STUNNING! FANTABULOUS!! And even... TOTALLY AWESONE!!!
As often as I hear guys comment on here about how they wish they had straight hair, I feel exactly the other way around... it's the curls that make me jealous every time!!!
See ya back at the ranch!
- Ken
Holy Crap! The hair looks absolutely awesome! The curls are kick-@$$, and the shine and condition is top notch. Keep up the impressive progress! :)
Thanks Brandon! Your hairs looking awesome as well.
Chris, your hair looks well cared for and your progress is definitely showing. I also have a few natural highlights through my hair, but probably not as well-defined as yours. I'll be looking forward to your next update.
Peace,
Ryan
Thanks Ryan. As a fellow curly head, You know how hard it is to maintain the curly mess. I try my best to take care of it. I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress pics as well. I wonder how your curls are looking.
Chris, your hair is looking fantastic, healthly and long! Almost 2 years of growth, how time flys when you're having fun!
Take care,
Bruce
Yea, I hear ya! I cant believe it's almost been two years either! Time sure does fly. Thanks Bruce, Take care.
Curls, Highlights, Shine...Oh My! You have such a lovely mane, and it's obvious that you take great care of it. And I have to agree that this board is a great place to go for encouragement. Do you normally wear it loose at this point or do you use ponytails?
Mouse
Hi Mouse! Thanks for the wonderful comments. At this point, I usually wear it loose but sometimes tie it into a ponytail for work. Whenever I'm at home or not working, I wear it loose. I also wear it loose to go out during the weekends. I don't like ponytails much but sometimes ya just have to wear them. Thanks again Mouse.
Wow Chris. Does your hair ever look fabulous! A round of well deserved applause and a great big BRAVO! :-)
Thank you Mr.President!
Hey Chris'Nation! Damn, your hair looks good! Seriously man, it is WAY long for only 21 months and you are an excellent example of what long, thick and curly hair can look like (as it is the more rare breed.) You have arrived dude...and should be frick'in stoked!!! Da Bruce'O'rama
Thanks Walter! I'll make sure to drop a line when I get the chance :-) Take care
Hey Chris;
You have done a lot of growing and curling in those 21 months. And while you attribute some of it to the support you have had here, remember that you are also an inspiration to those just starting their journey.
Thanks for Sharing
WWT
Thank you Walter for the wonderful insight.
Are you out in the sun a lot? Those reddish brown highlights appear to be sun highlights. I would think being predisposed to curls, would be especially wicked in the Flori-duh heat and humidity. I suspect the spirals would relax a bit in a cooler, drier climate. My own hair behaves differently in the winter, than in the summer, here in Northern Maryland. I have a lot of waves on the ends, in the summer heat and humidity. During the winter, it is nearly stick straight. Your hair does look nice, even if the Florida climate creates a somewhat tangled mess at times. I envy the curls, but I don't envy the detangling of them.
Carol
Interesting observation, Carol. Actually, I am in the sun quite often. I really dislike it but I have no choice. This is the sunshine state after all. I hear ya about the tangled mess. It is very frustrating. Perhaps sometime in the future I'll relocate to a cooler setting. Thanks!
Your hair is growing out very well Chris H. That is good growth for 21 months from a shaved head. Keep growing it for sure.
Scott
Thanks Scott. That sure did boost up my confidence. Coming from a Super long hair! Thanks man
Most awesome update Chris! I really love the different colors of your hair in the top picture. Don't know if its just the lighting but if it's anything close to that fantastic in real life I am so jealous. Awesome long curls too my friend, you have every reason to be proud dude!
Keep on growing that power mane :)
Thanks Chris! It looks pretty similar in real life however, Cameras do tend to lie a bit :-). Thanks for the compliments dude, I really appreciate them. See you around dude
Hello Chris, what amazing progress and beautiful hair! Wow! Thanks for sharing, seeing pics like that keep me going for sure.
Cheers,
Max L.
