I love this shot.
I love this shot too.
I finally have a good tail.
No you don't.......you have a GREAT tail!!!
peace
clayton
Glad you think so. Can't wait for every hair to fit into the tail well and stay there. Also it has a little twist at the end as my hair is straight until the ends and the tail seems to have a twist as the sum total of the twists. But it is my tail.
And finally, dinner. The one I made.
Dinner looks delicious. Where do you go to grad school? I am looking at applying to a Masters program for conservation biology somewhere. I need to find a school that wants to support a mediocre student (me) on a research or teaching assistantship. Any words of advice?
Not sure where you should look. I personally am a PhD student at Medical College of Wisconsin in their program in the biomedical sciences. So I do not think that is what you want. I'd look at schools that either are big enough to have everything or specialized in conservation biology (which would be in locales good to study conservation). I'd try a google search and type in something like: conservation biology MS. I did it and found a whole bunch of websites from a school in Maine to University of Minnesota to Illinois State. Read through them, narrowing it down by location and program. Find the ones that appeal to you. And then get applying early because applying to schools is a pain in the rear. Let me know how it goes and feel free to contact me for further advice.
Of course if you are looking for a program in biomedical sciences instead, I can put in a good word...
BTW, dinner was delicious.
I glanced at the directory of users and it said you are from Tennessee (I think). I added the state name to the search and found a link to a graduate progtam at UT Knoxville in conservation biology within the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. This may be a good place to start if you do not want to go far.
Other than that, there may be another big college or college system school perhaps closer. Try searching all the schools around you.
the program i mentioned
Thanks for your help, Antesse. Knoxville is a beautiful place and a great party school, I love visiting up there and we have gotten some grad students from there where I go as an undergrad now. I never really considered going there but I will check it out. Thanks! Good luck with your studies.
Dear Allen,
I know you did not ask me the above question, but take a good long and serious look at the University of Washington in Seattle. One of my old roommates completed his doctorate there in a very similar field. I also know that the UW is very strong in the conservation sciences due to their importance in maintaining the environmental health of the Pacific Northwest, which, by the way, is a subject that Seattle loves to talk about 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once a student establishes Washington-state residency, the UW can be amiable to deal with. If you want to look east, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (my alma mater)is one of the best public universities in the, yes, world. Everything it offers is A+++. Good public universities have a much better track record with providing financial assistance to good students, unlike some private schools. They don't tend to forget the taxpayers pay their way. One last word: don't describe yourself as "mediocre". That is not what graduate school is all about.
Good luck,
Gandharva
Thanks for your input... I have heard great things about the state of Washington in general and the city of Seattle in particular... unfortunately it is a bit far away for me to consider going to. UNC on the other hand is not too terribly far from where I am now. I will definitely look into that. Thank you.
I have never been to the Pacific Northwest but I have been as far up as the redwoods and Yosemite, having lived in NorCal for three years, and it was the most beautiful part of the country I have seen, hands down. If I was a wealthy man, I would move back in a second.
Ramen Ratatoullie?
peace, jonalbear
Hey that is actual pasta...generic brand pasta...I actually call it Italian Gumbo.
Antesse! Mmmmmm! Looks good. Do you spice it up?
peace, jonalbear
Well, with Italian-type spices like oregano and basil and garlic...plenty of garlic. So not spice like in Cajun food but rather spice as in Italian food.
Gumbo is more to describe the consistency and content.
I love pasta dishes, and that one's got lot's of yummy veggies as well. Looks delicious!
Carol
It was delicious. That is the meal I made for me and a guest to my apartment who was female--woohoo! (She liked it as well)
...and I find it funny that out of a bunch of pictures of my hair, people responded to my dinner...
... your hair has got quite long! Nice!
Bruce
Thanks, Bruce! It shocks me every time I see it.
Hey Antesse
Your long hair is looking really great and you are now well into the period where you can really start and enjoy having long hair. Thanks for the inspiration of your update.
Justin~
Glad to be an inspiration to those with even longer hair than mine (I think yours is longer by looking at avatars).
Hi Antesse,
What an outstanding update! You are blessed with straight hair in great condition, and it grows quickly as well. Your ponytail is looking A1 superb as well. Keep up the great growth, as things can only get better and better.
That dinnier you cooked looks fabulous. Italian food is a genuine favourite of mine, and I can never have enough of that!
All the best,
David
Thanks for the response. I like my hair, the way it is straight with the little twist at the end. It is starting to be "my" hair and not just another head of hair (okay it has started a while ago but my hair's identity is coming-of-age now). I think this is about one year of growth from a short head of hair with a trim in the middle--hard to gauge the number compared to people growing from a buzzcut as I always have had hair since birth (I came out fuzzy). Dinner was delicious and my dinner guest enjoyed it as well--nothing finer than fine food with a fine girl, right?
Cheers,
The Other Other David?
Looks great Antesse! You're getting some good length now, and that ponytail suits you, do you most often wear it like that or?
Simon
No, I most often have it loose. Not everything goes into it yet and so I have a few strands I have to keep tucking. Also, the feel of it is still new to me, getting tighter and looser as I move my head about. Besides I play around with it when it is in. I hope to wear it more often and longer in days to come as I now see that it definitely looks like a real ponytail as compared to some of the little ones I used to try now and then (that I worried if they were too much of "trying" to have a ponytail).
Thanks though, Simon!
Looks great!
Banana
Thanks!
Interesting pic Antesse, very artsy :)
Good shot to see how long your hair is as your avatar doesn't do it justice. I do really like the avatar pic though, very cool. All the pics were great, and the dinner one made me hungry lol.
Good luck with the pursuit of your lady friend :)
Avatar is even a month or two old at this point...my hair seems to change quickly as I think it is now different even from the avatar. I think I may grow it still longer so I can comfortably do a handful of styles including ponytails, buns, and braids and using various accessories with said styles such as hairsticks and pony holders.
Everyone seems to like my dinner...I guess I will have to post a recipe...
Thanks!
Cool set of pictures especially dinner and I just happen to be hungry....(grin)
Kevin
Thanks Kevin. I suppose I need to share my recipe for dinner...
I was debating wheather to ask.
So what is it????
Kevin
Wow Antesse, your hair has sure grown a lot. It should reach the middle of your back soon. Looking good.
