Shawn's (Mr. Crow's) recent post with the celtic leather hairpiece in a halftail finally inspired me to figure out a way to make mine stay in...no matter what. I tried just putting it in but it wouldn't stay. I twisted the hair into a small bun but that still felt somewhat unstable and I had hair sticking out of it in a rather unsightly way (note: need more practice making buns). Finally I just put the halftail in a ponytail band and put the leather hairpiece in just above it. After practicing multiple times to figure out what height to make the tail at and how to put the dang thing in stright I found success! I actually have a halftail that holds most of the bangs and a hairpiece that makes it look cool. Yay!

Much jealousy on this side of the screen.

Thanks, Clayton!
Hi Mouse, that looks very nice! Love the color and fullness of your hair, yet more inspiration for me! Cheers to you and keep going.

Thanks, Max. I hope someday it's full enough to hold it without the ponytail band.
Aren't you due for an update these days?
Mouse
Hey Mouse, you are right, I should do an update very soon. Keep up your great progress!
Cheers,
Max

Wow, that looks really, really nice. What a nice accessory and I am glad you got it to sta in. I hadn't even thought about wedging ther stick behind teh elastic of teh half-tail. (You are so ingenuitous!)
Congratulations, Mouse, you hair is really coming in nicely.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
I think "stubborn" would be more appropriate...I am, after all, part Irish. :-)
Thanks for the inspiration, Shawn!

Looks really good.
Best wishes.

Thanks, Jonathan!

Great results "anyway", Mouse! Looks as though you're building quite the collexion of barrets, hair fasteners, and hair sticks there. Any recommendable places online for such? Take care.
Yours in longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan
Not sure where to get this particular item online. I have seen ponytail cuffs at a place called Mystic Caravan, but their site seems to be down at the moment.
Thanks!

Good morning, Mouse,
What a lovely job you have done, and my heartiest congratulations to you with your halftail. As always, your thick, wavy hair looks wonderful, and your colour is outstanding. You have come SO far in such a short period of time, and happy growing!
My best to you,
David
Thanks, David. It's hard to believe that just a year ago I had decided to grow my hair out. Looking back at pictures, it seems so short!
Any updates in the works from you?
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
Thank you for asking about my update. Originally, I was not planning one until October (42 months), as my hair grows rather slowly. However, it was has been so beautiful lately in Nova Scotia that I took a few photos from the rooftop of my building the other day, and I just happened to be in some of them. I hope to get them posted this weekend, when I have time to sort them out, so stay tuned!
Thanks for asking, and take care,
David
Looks cool Mouse! I reckon this is all really interesting for you considering this is the first time you're growing it long in the adult years:)
Keep it growing and take care!
Simon
Thanks, Simon. I would certainly call growing long hair an adventure with all the twists and turns that implys. Unfortunately because I didn't grow up with long hair, things that come naturally to most women are learned skills for me (such as putting in a ponytail binder...harder that I thought it would be to get right!). On the plus side I didn't grow up with people insisting that I try layering, highlighting/coloring, perming, or straightening my hair. I feel little pressure to live up to any standards other than my own.

When cheating looks that good Mouse, I say go for it! Your hair looks stunning Mouse, and that clip adds just the right amount of flair. I hope you get to use that the next time you go to your renaissance fair. Knoeck 'em dead! :)
Here's to stubborn persistence!
Yay for the stubborn Irish side! I certainly will wear it on my next Ren Fair visit. Might look interesting with the chainmail since I bought a belt that matches.
Thanks Chris!

I too have the stubborn Irish side Mouse, though I would love the red hair to go with it. Apparently I am the Dark Irish type from my hair color. I am reputed to be about 3/4 Irish though I may not look it :)
Stubborn sides have their advantages...then again Iv'e been known to dig quite a hole for myself, LOL.
I'm only about 1/4 Irish, but I'm also about half English, so I think I have enough Celtic blood to give me the reddish highlights. My sister expresses her Irish blood the way you do: dark, almost black hair and fair skin.
Looks great. VERY smart!
Banana
Thanks!

Hi Mouse,
All that trying certainly paid off. Looks very nice indeed.
Take care,
Neil
Thanks, Neil! Good luck with the beard by the way.
Mouse
Thats a really creative style mouse. It looks quite nice. I noticed your hair has gotten a bit longer as well. The hairs looking impressive mouse. It looks very healthy and the color is astonishing. I love it! I noticed a few odd curls towards the ends. I suspect your hair is going to get curlier the longer it gets! I can't wait to see how it'll look in another year.
It's rather variable with the curls, so who knows what'll happen. I wouldn't argue with a few more though. :-)
Thanks so much, Chris. Your support is most appreciated.

Hi Mouse ...
It never fails ...... I go away for a day and a half and I almost miss on of my favorite person's update! ....... YOURS!
Be Blessed...
Tristan
You are far too kind, Tristan.
I am indeed plotting a bit. Tomorrow evening I'll be seeing some people that I haven't seen in about two years. :-)
Mouse
Tomorrow huh??
The plot thickens! Excellent ... you must let me know how it goes..
Blessings ...
Tristan
Wow! That looks really cool! Not really cheating, but finding a way to make it work. Then again, I always fastened my hair in a tail first, then put whatever hair ornament/toy over it. It never occured to me to do it any other way.
Carol
Thanks, Carol! A friend of mine from college (I see here only sporatically now, though) had a lovely, large Celtic hairpiece that she would just slip in without any other item, so I assumed that was THE way to do it. Then again, she has super thick, LOOOONG [red] hair. Mine certainly isn't thin, but I doubt I'll have hair as thick as her's, so it's probably best that I figured out the ponytail binder trick. Nice to know I'm not the only one!
