Hi Guys and gals, Inspired by William's post about his sterling celtic ponytail tie. I'm posting my picture sporting my sterling tail cuff with a celtic knot design that I have had about 5 years now. I have two and love them although can't wear the smaller one now that my sides are grown in making my ponytail much thicker. Thanks again hairball for re associating me with the Tail Cuff website.

And the close-up of course!
Awesome! I've been drooling over some at Mystic Caravan (though their site seems to be down for hte moment). Me want...
It looks very good on you, and seems elegant (if I may use the word to refer to a man's style) due to the simple yet complex style.

Do you have to put a hair band underneath to keep it all together? Or, does the cuff hold?

If it is what I think it is, there is a hair band built in. So on the inside curve there is a piece of metal that holds an elastic band. You secure the tail with the band and then manuever the cuff in the right orientation. If you look up these on various websites (I think "Mystic Caravan" has them--do not remember the site off-hand), you'll see what I mean.
Thanks!
here are the two I have and the application is self explanitory

Nice Jonalbear! I didn't realise your hair was this long actually:)
Simon
Simon, longer in the back than sides but ties back nicely into a ponytail. About 6 months to a year before the sides catch up I beleive. Can't wait!

Very cool Jonalbear. I always thought that ordinary hair ties looked a bit boring, that looks much cooler. In fact, I never knew that those things existed! I wonder if those would work in my hair?
Neil
Neil, Think you would look great in a tail cuff and a
full beard by the way!

Looks cool! I think I'll have to look into those when my hair is long enough.

You just reminded me of the tail cuff my parents got for me about a year ago. When I get back home [business trip], I'll take some pics and post them...

Thanks again hairball for re associating me with the Tail Cuff website.
Hey Jonalbear the cuff and your hair looks outstanding:))I'm glad my mentioning the tail cuff spurred your interest as I have the scroll one now and actually just ordered the southwest style one.For those who never had one of these the tail cuff is of excellent quality as mine is sterling as is stamped inside the cuff. Certainly more interesting than the average ponytailer you would buy at a Walmart. No longhair should be without at least one of these!Mark
What exactly is the "Tail Cuff" website? I tried a google search and got this forum post and dozens upon dozens of sites for tail cuffs for measuring blood pressure in rats.
Try this web address as it will take you where you need to be....

Ooh...I want one!! However, price is a little high...perhaps I can save up...
Yes, a bit pricey but since it's the only jewelry I wear at this point it is worth it! Very cool!

Which size do you think I should get? Am I a large or small? Without actually measuring tail diameter, I am worried I will get the wrong one and with those prices, I want to make sure.
Antesse, I think it really depends on how thick your hair is. Thin straight hair would work fine with the small one. Your hair seems to be quite thick so that would suggest the larger one. I definitely need the big one with my thick wavy hair. I wore the small one when I had my sides chopped into a mullet and just wore the tail in the back. The sterling is somewhat pliable to allow for slight adjustments.

Could the powers that be please put this link on the Links page for later reference?
Thanks!

Perhaps we should have a link on the links page (or a subgrouping) for "shopping". The Tail Cuff site, the Mystic Caravans site, some other ones...and this one:
http://www.longlocks.com/catalog.htm
...for their line of ChapStix men's hair sticks (and other ones applicable to men's hair.
However, it would be better to bring this to the attention of "Jason" who maintains the list. A link to contact him is at the bottom of the list. Or if you would rather, I can write the message.
Cheers,
Antesse
Man, jonalbear, these things look so damn COOL! I just had to buy a couple to try them out, though wasn't ready to pitch over $40 USD for one quite yet. I found some offered on eBay and I paid $30USD, including shipping to Canada, for 3 of them (although, granted two of tehm are brass and one is a nickel-silver and so mightn'y be so good a quality, but, as it's my first foray into tail cuffs, why not save a few $?)
You hair looks great and the tail cuff really accentuates the thickness of your hair.
Thanks for posting,
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
j. bear...
Looks good man. I like the tail cuff. I look forward to being able to do something similar in the future ... but for now. ... just bandanas to cover the awkward phase for me..
Keep up the great work...
Tristan
That tail cuff looks pretty neat!
Hmmmmmmm............guess I will have to get one of those.
Hi Jonalbear,
That is VERY cool indeed, both you and William have posted great photos of great hair ties in the past few days. Your ponytail is looking VERY impressive as well, it is thick and curly, and I did not realize it was that long!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks David, Check out my post to Simon.
