Hello I need to know if this is true or not. A hair dresser told me that if you trim your hair on the phase of a full moon hair will grow to 1 inch (3/4th normal rate).
The reason she told me is because the weight of the full moon with make hair grow faster. I was also told that the phase of the full moons power is 3 days before the moon is full and 3 days after the day of the moon. Is that a true statement? If that is true than why do people take supplements to increase blood flow in scalp?
Just wonder if this is true or not.
If anyone has any suggestions to increase hair growth e-mail me at:stevish74@webtv.net
Somehow, I just don't think that's true.
The concepts brought up in astrology is at present debatable and thus, could not be considered as a science. It is just a self-belief that celestral movements could affect one's behavior and perhaps hair growth (so as you thought).
As I couldn't rule out the possibility of "psychological" processes playing a part in your (or your someone's) believe, I personally do not believe in these things unless proven scientifically.
Anyway, a full moon essentially weighs the same as a "no moon" or "crescent". What you're referring to could be the effect of direct gravity of the moon exerted on us human beings on earth, when the moon is at a certain position. Which in effect, could be much smaller than the gravity the sun has on us. So in the same breath, why not say we should have tremendous hair growth when we trim it at "full sun"?
That's my point.
Nah, not true.
Get a sunlamp...
There is a twist to this belief. Trimming during a full moon is supposed to make your hair longer, while trimming it during a new moon is supposed to make it thicker. In my own experience, I've found that it gets longer when it is not trimmed at all. Go figure.
As far as the weight of the moon goes, it's actually weightless. That's right it's in free fall. Weight is a unit of force, which is proportional to mass and acceleration. The moon does have a mass, but the acceleration forces, including gravity, cancel each other out.
Perhaps it is this force that supposedly varies. In that case, what you need to pay attention to is not the phase of the moon, but its position in orbit. Look for when it is at perigee and apogee. The variation is not much, but it is sufficient to act as a trigger for things like earthquakes. It's sort of the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
What varies far more is the direction of the force. Since the moon orbits around the earth, even if the magnitude of the force it exerts on us is constant, the direction changes. This is much more significant than any variation in its magnitude and contributes to ocean tides around the world.
More significant than the moons pull, though, is the sun's. And the force due to the sun varies over the year. The earth is closest to the sun in northern winter and farthest away in northern summer.
In my personal experience, the greatest forces imparted on my hair are due to my brush. I suspect brushing hair is more significant than any effect of the moon.
Yup. And Chicken Little said, "The sky is falling."
Good luck - just don't get it cut - or you'll need that extra "pull" to get it back to where it was.
It sounds like the hair dresser is presenting a complicated way of asking the client to return once a month. Regular appointments gets clients to return more often.
Maybe she trims hair differently when it's the wrong time of the month. Maybe when the mortgage payment is due she is more likely to cut less hair hoping you will return sooner to get hair trimmed again. If the moon phases are no longer in synch with the mortgage payment, she may use the position of the planets to explain the change.
Some people may look to astrology for answers and others may look to medications or nutritional supplements.
