Okay,
I'm a jerk! (Or used to be one.)
My wife and four daughters all have long hair. All my life I've had short hair, until now. While cruising around in the car on cool spring, summer and fall days I have always enjoyed opening all the windows in the car and feeling the breeze against my face, smelling the garden fresh flowers. I would lock the electric windows so no one could reverse my euphoria. All the while everyone in the car would complain. I would sigh a heavy say and roll up my eyes while rolling up the windows. My usual comment was "How unfair that I must sweat so you can keep your precious hair-dos."
Now that my hair is long enough to completely cover my face...I GET IT!! Alright, I get it. I give up. I was W*R*O*N*G.
Please one of you who knows about physics or meteorology or something like that, tell me why, when all the windows are rolled down in the car, why does the wind come from the BACK of the car to blow my hair FORWARD straight into my face while driving?!?!?!
Banana
Banana, Don't be so hard on yourself but very cool that you can admit your mistake. You have reached an interesting milestone! Now you know why you never see a longhair driving a convertible at least with out a hat or cap on!
peace, jonalbear
this is what pony tail holders were invented for. i refuse to drive with my windows up. :)
Exactly
I don't have a clue what you are talking about, Banana. As you can see by my pic here, every hair of mine always stays in perfect place, neat as a pin.

the wind enters the car via the side windows then hits the rear window and returns forward to the only points of escape(your open windows up front). it doesn't go in a straight line from back to front but it swirls like eddy's in water.
In an ancient movie, our Dear Bette's hair and scarf got wrapped around her face, driving a coupe, and went over a cliff in Californian. It is a warning to drive safely.
