Shampoo/Conditioner advice

  Ever since i had short hair, i have been using head and shoulders for minor dandruff control, but lately ive been real worried about shedding, and the damage caused to my hair (which will cause annoying stray hairs). I was thinking of getting some of that Nizoral shampoo that you use once a week, that way i'd be able to use conditioner and what not, without worrying about dandruff. My question is what is the best shampoo and conditioner that anyone here has used, as far as keeping your hair hydrated and protect it from damage and excess shedding.
