Hello all,
Do I even need to worry about my hair being threatened at my work place? So many people tell me that I am extremely valuable because of my skill set, excellent work ethics, and excellent customer service skills. Every time I bump into upper management they are always friendly and happy to see me. I always keep my hair clean and tied back out of the way and dress nicely. I have never had an issue with my hair at work, even when I grew from an inch of hair.
I always worry about getting forced to chop as I read about this happening from time to time on this board. But am I just worrying to much about something that will never happen?
Mike
I don't know what kind of company you work for (or even what country you're in for that matter) but, from what you've told us, I would say you have nothing to worry about. Especialy if the upper management seems to get on well with you. In my opinion, it would be far more likley for them to ask you to cut your beard off than your hair. Given that you grew your hair out with this company in the first place.
I work for a public school system on the east coast of the US. I am in the I.T. dept and responsible for keeping some very critical system up and running. Most of the managers have beards or goatees including our CIO. I think why I worry is because I have been overworked and under a lot of stress as we have been short staffed and have a lot of projects going on. When I get run down I get depressing thoughts. To be honest, people would probably be more worried if I cut my hair off as they would fear my leaving.
Oh yeah, you've got nothing tpo worry about. Nobody cares what the techies look like. Everybody loves you guys as long as you're on top of your game. I always love the techies I work with in the hospital. Very mportant group of guys. No worries. I think you're right though, if you cut, they would think it's for a job hunt. lol
Hi
You look a really cheerful chappie. If you are good at your work, positive and competent, reliable and responsible, whatever have you to fear? Be happy and relaxed in the good service that you offer in a much needed field in an academic environment.

It's quite possible that you're lucky enough to be working in an open-minded community that accepts you for your talent and efforts at work, and not your appearance. So I'd say don't worry about it. You'll cross that bridge when you get to it :)
You sound like you're doing very well at work to me. Just keep up your high standards and good attitude and your bosses will see past your hair and see you as a great, solid worker. In which case I wouldn't say you need to worry about your hair.
