Hi Guys,
Its been a while so I thought I'd check in and say hello.
How is everyone?
My Hair is Mid Back now, it was a little longer (1/2 - 1 inch) because I just had it cut. And I also had it "layered" which you can probably see from both pics. Contrary to the scare stories you might have heard about layers, if you have thick straight hair or thick hair which you style straight, then layers don't make your hair unmanageable, quite the opposite, they take some of the bulk out it.
[I don't normally pull my hair forwards like this, but its the only way to show it all in the pic.]
I doubt, I'll grow any longer, I'm quite happy with the length as it is. Comments Welcomed.
Hey you look great in these pics Sorted. I really love that color you have to your hair. I think I know what you mean about being happy with a certain length as I am wondering now whether I am at (or beyond) the best length for myself as well.
I had started growing out my hair in 2005 and I think one of the first websites I ran across on long hair that inspired me was yours but I cannot be sure, did you have the deceptikons website with long hair pics on it or am I confused? lol
Either way terrific hair and certainly still inspiring people. Thanks for posting :)
Yeah its different for everyone, but I think you know when you reach a point where you are happy and aren't happy going any further. Who knows... I might revise this point in the future, but it could go either way, I might decide I want it shorter not longer... its about what's right for you at a given time.
Not your not confused, I took down my progress pics from my site when I redeveloped it. Sorry to those who were disappointed.
Cheers!
Sorted, Your hair looks fantastic! thanks for
sharing the update pictures.
peace, jonalbear
It has been a while, and good to see you check in! The hair looks great, Yes, I agree, for some types of straight hair, layers do work. Yours certainly work.
Hope all is well in Las Canarias, Bragi
All is well as can be expected working in a marketplace where there is no money... :(
Thanks Jan
Hi there,
Good to hear from you my friend and hope all is well out in the islands and life is treating you well. I know it's been a while since we heard from you.

I try, thanks Whitetail.
Wash + Condition + Detangler... + trims of 1/2 inch every 3-4 months its all it takes.
Hi Sorted,
It is graet to hear from you again, it has been a LONG time since I have seen you on the hyperboard, and you were always a genuine inspiration. Your hair is outstanding, it is thick and healthy, and there is lots of shine as well. It is a genuine blessing to have straight hair like yours.
In fact, I just posted my 41 month update below, if you care to scroll down aand have a look!
Take care,
David
I wanted to congratulate you on your update as well, i thought that i'll write here seeing as your post is rather far down now.
You've made amazing progress since you joined here last year, hair looks really healthy and thick!
Take care and hope everything is going well for you!:D
Simon
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your kind words about my update, and it has been a pleasure having you with us on the hyperboard. It is not that far down as yet, and I am still making replies to all the folks who posted there. I NEVER leave anyone out of my thank you replies!
Take care,
David
Yeah I'll add my congrats to that as well... Your hair is awesome.
Hi Sorted,
I assume your were talking about my update, were you? If so, thank you for the kind words, coming from you that is high praise indeed! (Since I only joinedthe hyperboard last September, I never got to know you very well, but I heard you were an AWESOME guy and one of the most highly regarded on the hyperboard. As I said in my reply to you, your hair is fabulous!
All the best,
David
I was, I saw your photos below and you have a fine head of hair.
Not quite sure why I'm seemingly held in such high regard *blushes*. I just think of myself as one of the guys who's passed through here, first seeking inspiration, then support, then in turn offering a few words of encouragement to others, before moving on into the big wide world by myself.
In many ways the hyperboard "raises long hair children", it nurtures wannabe longhairs through the awkward stages and helps people gain self-confidence and acceptance for who they are. It creates a kind of extended longhair family, with the older members looking after the newbies. When some of reach longhair goals, we stick around for a while, helping others, before eventually fly the nest, whilst others, like Justin, Absalom, Bill & Gollan (to name but four) remain, often becoming involved in Board Admin.
What's really nice about this long hair family is that even those of us like me who have "flown the nest" and probably don't call as often as we should, are still assured of a warm welcome back whenever we do return home.
Hey! I remember you, you've made some great progress and it suits you:)
WOW! Your hair is amazing! Probably the best hair i've ever seen. I wanna touch it. lol. ; ) glad to hear from you!
<3 Cal
Thanks for the complement Cal, but I think my hair pales into insignificance next to some that inspired me. By that I mean members of this board & community, names too numerous to mention.
Wow Sorted............that is fabulous long hair that you have and looks sensational without a doubt! Great photos of a great long hair for sure.
As for length, if you were to let it grow to your waist you would find that it takes much more time in the AM to rid the hair of snags and knots. What you have decided for yourself looks perfect to me.
My best to you always Sorted
Justin~
Thanks Justin, looking good yourself, great avatar!
Always a pleasure to see you post here, Sorted! And your mane looks hands-down PERFECTION!!!
I hope life on the Canary Is. is still treating you well, --- and for goodness sake, please swing by here more often!!!!

Hi Ken,
Thanks mate, really appreciate your comments.
PS: A little 1-UP-manship for you, but see my pic from the back? Well my head was tilted slightly forwards... yep I've seen you cheating. :-)
Shhhh... I don't want anyone else hear to know! Cheat? Who, me (lol)??

Very nice length and color. And it's okay to maintain it at a length and style that works for you. If layering and keeping it at mid-back length is what you choose, than that choice is to be respected.
Carol
Can we see a pic of it in a ponytail? And any other style pics you have? : )also heres a pic of me! : )
It is equally as good. Really great guys.

Cool hair, I guess I could take a ponytail shot... here goes...
That is awesome! I love it man! It looks so great on you!
Hi
One of the best that I have seen. Really nice.

Thanks John
Great hair, Sorted! I've always admired your mane. While I personally prefer the all-one-length look, the layers do suit you.
Thanks, Jason.
Quick bit of advice on layers:
The layers vs. all-one-length debate is really a matter of preference and what works for your hair type. If you have fine hair layers are wrong, period. But if you have thick hair then layers might suit you better, particularly if you have straight hair, or indeed very curly hair. However, if you have wavy hair then layers are something you should only entertain if you either a) like the messy look or b) are prepared to work on your hair.
Of course as you grow out you tend to find natural layers contribute to the flips and bulk of the awkward stage. But very long layers like mine are well past the troublesome stage, if you get your hair layered be sure to not to get any layers cut shorter than shoulder length, otherwise it'll be like revisiting the awkward stage.
Of course the debate is academic if you subscribe to the 'no-trim' philosophy. But I've always been an advocate of trimming 1/2 an inch 3-4 times per year.
Your hair looks outstanding, David. It came out perfect. For you the trims and layering has worked out brilliantly.
I can fully understand why you would want to keep it at mid back length. It is best to keep it at a length that you will enjoy. Mid back length is probably the easiest to maintain. (Mine reaches the tops of my knees and requires much more maintenance.)
Scott
Thanks Scott, your hair is in a completely different league to mine, so that means a lot.
Your hair looks great! Thanks for the advice about layers. I may consider it based upon your advice. I'm still growing out of the awkward stage. So, I really don't know what my hair is going to be like until it gets there. I have apprehension about the fact that it may be fine and wavy, which would take me out of the running for layers.
Good to see your picks! They really encourage me to continue to the mid-back length.
Banana
Thanks for checking in it's nice to see you've achieved your goal, and I may add it suits you perfectly.
It's always nice to hear a successful longhair story from time to time as we often read about peoples mishaps and having to cut it.
Yours is an inspiration to those still growing it out.
Thanks again
Kevin
