Hey everyone!
I know I post on and off here, but hey, I work alooot...
Anyhow, here's my latest picture, just taken...
As you can see, I'm quite happy!
I'd say I'm about 90% recovered (besides scars) from the condition that was previously making my life a complete pain, and although I'm constantly dehydrated from the meds, I feel great! Water is my friend, anyhow!
Anyhow, earlier today I wore a blue bandanna (for the second time ever). I also had my hair back in a ponytail, with 3 separate bands along the tail. I should've taken a picture but didn't think about it. Now do you guys tie the bandanna under the ponytail or above? I can't really see it from the back and didn't take a picture, so I just tied it under, but I don't really know what most people do...
Also, someone else on here had an idea to just tie a pony tail with a string or something... I've been meaning to try this as well, but don't know what to use. I'd rather not use a cloth, as it'd probably look girly (it would probably look like a scrunchy, haha), or a shoelace. I don't know what else I'd use that would look good though, as well as not damage the hair. I was thinking a length of hemp might be a good idea.. any other ideas?
Hi Peg,
As always, your thick, shiny amd wavy hair looks absolutely tremendous, and it grows so quickly. I am very plaesedd that you are still growing it, be sure to keep up the good work. I hope you grow it has long as you can, as your hair is of the finest quality.
I am delighted that you are feeling so much better these days. I will be sure to extend my wishes that you have a full and complete recovery.
As for hair ties, I would hesitate to use string as a hair tie, as it could cause damage, especially if tied too tightly. The ones I use are made by "Goody", and they are made from a soft fabric with no metal ties that could damage the hair. They are not girly at all, and the package contains several colours, including black, brown, and dark blue.
Keep that fabulous mane growing!
David
(PS-I posted my 41 month update on Saturday. Fell free to scroll down and have a look, and comment on it if you wish!)
Thanks!!
I'll be sure to check out your update as well! =)
For the string tie thing, I suggest possibly a length of leather cord whether flat or round. Flat will probably give you a tighter hold for the same tightness. With cloth however, you can avoid the scrunchy look by wrapping the tail for a few inches. You could also use ribbon. Just don't make big puffy bows; however a distinguished ribbon bow (like stuffy colonial look) could work. Or wrapping the ribbon or using it like string. Because it is you, you can make it "you" even if it detached from you would look strange.
Hey, not a bad idea. I'll try wrapping a cloth or something. Maybe I'll even try just wrapping up my bandanna, so it's like a "string", and then tying it. Hmm.
I'm so glad to hear that you are mostly recovered from your ordeal, Peg, --- and you pic does indeed show you looking quite happy (not to also mention your GREAT-looking hair)!!!
As far as the bandana question goes... I've only worn a bandana with my hair loose, rather than also tied back in a ponytail; but, I see no reason why not to try both! As far as whether you should have the bandana under or over the ponytail, my suggestion is to buy a small hand mirror, so when you experiment with any new look, you can hold up the extra mirror in order to see the back of your head in whatever regular mirror you have in your bathroom or bedroom. As long as YOU like how it looks, then just go with whichever way pleases you the most!
Hope these comments have helped!

Good idea. I really should have a hand mirror anyhow, I don't know why I don't!
I never thought of wearing a bandanna with my hair down. When you wear it down, do you tie it under your hair or above?
Hey Peg, your hair is superb. Your hair is among the best I have ever seen and I am sure it makes some girls jealous.
As for bandannas, I tie mine around my forehead. From what you are asking, I guess that would be above. I don't have a photo but take a look at Bill how he ties it. He does it the same way I do.
Have you tried soft cloth hair ties? I use them on my hair, and they do no damage. Tying a string aroud it may cause some damage.
Scott
Some girls DO get jealous. But generally, girls aren't really into my hair.
I do use soft cloth hair ties, like, elastic cloth I guess. It's all I've ever used, they seem pretty gentle. I just wanted to try a string or cloth or something different for a change.
Just wanted to say your hair is DAMN awesome! I have wavy hair too but I'm still in the awkard stage, I'd say my hair is almost the same texure as yours too. Damn I hope my hair turns out like that in a few more years!
Thanks man! Keep on growing through that awkward stage, eventually it'll look awesome!
And btw, Wintersun is an AMAZING band!! =D
I don't think that the cloth would look too girly, but cloth and stuff like that tends to slide off my hair, which is very frustrating, nevertheless, I'm sure that you can find something. You might even check out some American Indian stuff.
Anyway, awesome hair!
Jeffrey.
Thanks!
I might try a length of leather, like Antesse suggested.
Funny you mention American Indian stuff though, one of my jobs is at an American Indian gift shop. In fact, it's the largest in Michigan, and it's fuuull of handmade native american items.. some of them up to $3k to $4k... I'll have to look around for something there tomorrow, never even thought about it!
Hello
I am afraid that I am in no way qualified to attempt to answer your questions with any degree of competence.
What I do know however, is that your hair looks absolutely fantastic. Congratulations!
Jonathan
Just incredible hair, Peg! There's almost no taper as well so you're probably far from terminal length.
I'm getting that impression too! Who knows--my younger sister has hair past her waist, but always trims it so that it never grows longer. It's probably a hassle having to remember not to sit on your hair, haha. Still, I'm wondering what both of our terminal lengths are.
That long hair of yours is just mind blowing it is so fabulous.
As for your question, perhaps a thin band of leather? (Something like I wear instead of a bandana?)
In your picture, that's just a thin band of leather?
I guess I never really noticed. Not a bad idea, I'll add that to my list of things to try! Heh.
Hey Peg
Great hair you have there! Well Impressed!
Great mane, Peg, definitely to die for!
Where you tie your bandanna will depend a lot on the shape of your head. As Jeffrey noted, long hair is slippery and cloth can slide off easily. Your bandanna will need to go around your head low enough that your head is not overly sloped there.
One guy insisted to me that a bandanna must lie higher than one's ears. My bandanna would slide off if I put it that high. My ears do not stick out and they are behind my hair where no one sees much of them, so where the bandanna is in relation to my ears really doesn't matter. If your ears stick way out, you may feel otherwise.
In my case, there is a natural spot that my bandanna stays on best, and whether a ponytail would be tied above or below it depends on how high I would tie it. I seldom do a ponytail, but if I do one, it's got to be tied low. Higher up to me seems weird. A ponytail would have to be tied much higher than I'd tie it to be tied above where my bandanna lies, so in my case I'd have to say the answer to your question is, "I tie my bandanna above where I'd tie a ponytail."
I'll add that both serve much the same purpose, to hold your hair down, so I can't see much need to ever have both. About the only time I do is when hiking in or clearing brush, and then I tie the bandanna in a cap configuration to keep the brush from snagging the hair on top of my head.
Bill
Hey, thanks for that detailed explanation! I'll have to try what you said sometime this week.
Also, I like the way you're wearing the bandana in that picture--I'll have to try that too!
Peg, Wonderful hair. Nice length and awesome sheen!
Glad your recovery is coming along well!
peace, jonalbear
Fantastic hair! I don't really have an answer to your questions, I don't experiment a lot with different hairstyles. As for the bandana, I suppose under the ponytail would be better...
Hi Peg
I can't help with the bandana part but I often wear a pony tail and use the ties you buy in the store. They are designed to minimize
damage to your hair and do come in masculine colors, (I use the black ones) I would not recommend hemp or string.
Other than that your hair rocks.
Kevin
Yeah, I wear the same kind too. The cloth ones that are in different colors. Except I usually wear black or blue or something.
You're probably right, hemp probably isn't good. Too bad, it would look cool!
Awesome hair dude!!! What is the goal???
Terminal length, I suppose!
Wow Peg, your hair is simply phenomenal. So much golden shiny hair you certainly have every reason to be happy. You have an extraordinary mane Peg!
I am glad that you are mostly recovered from the painful condition you were engulfed in. If you don't have your basic health than there isn't a damn lot of things that can balance that out and make life worthwhile. I can relate to that and I look forward to the day when I will be able to make the same claim of recovery, but not yet alas.
Congratulations on getting your life back! :)
Well, it's golden and shiny all right, but trust me, it can be a pain too! Haha! =)
About the health thing, yes it is rough, especially when it's something that interrupts every aspect of your life. Although I have been eating quite well for the past few years, I've decided to try even harder (mmm more greens!), as I want to STAY healthy!!
Anyhow, thanks for the comment. =)
Hi Peg,
I hope all is good with you my friend.
That's for the update and you hair really does look in amazing condition and it's not very often you see such silky looking hair and natural waves as well.
I'm very glad that the medication is working and it sounds like life is alot better and that's the most important. Well keep the water flowing and always better to keep hydrated.
As Absalom suggests I've been using those type of hair ties for a few years and they are much kinder to the hair. I've got all sorts of colours and I've never had anyone pass negative on the colour. I'm sure you can get those at Walmart of a local short of "Sally Beauty" of whatever they have over there. We have a large chain of shops over here called Boots that you can get them. If you don't have any luck drop me a line and I'll send some over.
I don't think I've posted updates below! So I'll e-mail you a couple of fun pics from Wacken..:-)
Keep it growing and a great inspiration.
Cheers,
John.B
Yeah, I wear all different colors of those elastic cloth bands too. Usually red, blue, or white, but usually black. I actually bought some yellow and green ones recently, but haven't tried them.. lol!
Yes! Wacken pics!! \m/
Hey Peg. Your hair is totally awesome. We both have about the same length and color. Keep it growing and let's see who can get the longest blonde mane.
Del
Haha, wow, it is very similar looking! Yours is really shiny, and it looks like it's the same length as mine. Haha!
I'm not as ripped as you though! =( lol!
Hi Peg,
Your hair looks great. Whenever I use a bandana, I always tuck the ends under my ponytail or bun, or when I leave it open.
You are blessed, no two ways about it. =)
-James
I have never seen blond hair that thick before. I'm very happy to hear that the medication is working, I was disappointed to hear you say before that you intended to cut it!
Really? My whole family has very thick blonde hair, I guess I never thought it was unusual.. =P
And yes, I feel much better about my health and my hair is no longer getting in the way of things--so it's staying! I almost feel stupid that I wanted to cut it at one point!
Lookit those golden curls! I'd be happy too! Glad to hear that your meds are helping, and that your condition is improving. As for scaring, there are some OTC products you can buy that help to minimize the formation of scars, as skin heals. Might want to check a drugstore/pharmacy, or the healthcare section of a local discount department store.
The soft velour fabric hair fasteners are the kind preferred by most longhairs. And you can get them in muted colors, though my collection consists of girly pastels. :-) Walmart, most dollar stores, many drugstores, have these available in the haircare aisle/section.
Carol
honestly, I don't know, but your hair is OUTSTANDING!!!
with envy. i'm pretty sure that of everone on the mlhh, your hair makes me the most jealous. it's so gorgeous i want to call shenanegans and make you take off your wig.
as far as tie back suggestions go, i'd say stay away from the hemp - too rough. my vote is to rip of a strip of fabric from an old black t-shirt or something. i do this occasionally and it works pretty good. just cut it short enough so you have enough to wrap around, but not long ends hanging down. that shoud eliminate the problem of having it look 'too girly.'
congrats on the improving health. hope it jsut keeps getting better for you!
peace,
nic
Greetings Peg, Wow! One of the best manes I have ever seen, just magnificent. Glad you are over that medical condition. Cheers to long hair and health, great going.

Max
