Hey guys, been reading the board for a while. My name is Paul and I'm 19, currently studying at a Univeristy (hope to become a Network Admin someday). I have had long hair for about 4 years. I have mid-drift length(naval area) hair(almost to my waist basically), its thick, straight, and I am a burnette. My hair type is a little dry, but basically normal. When i put it in a pony tail, it looks like a pony's tail. I guess I started to grow it because I love European Heavy Metal (Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, Hammerfal, to name a few) and thought long hair looked so awesome and the dudes in the bands (well, I still do) and ever since i can't cannot imagine myself without it. It has become a part of me and I love it (so do the laides hehe, especially my girlfriend). I am just wondering wether or not I am taking good care of my hair(I think I am). I do not have any split ends, but I do have the normal breakage/hair loss as everyone else (5 or 6 hairs in the shower, 10 to 15 hairs on the floor after brushing). Anways, I shampoo my hair 2 to 3 times a week with Nutri Vive Shampoo and condition it everyday with Nutri Vive Conditioner. After I shower I let it dry on its own. It takes a good 3 hours to finally dry. Then I seperate it into sections, run my finger through eacher section, and then run a wide toothed comb through the section(starting at the bottom). After I finger comb and comb my all my hair, I slowly bursh it (starting at the bottom). After i do that, I brush it from scalp to bottom 3 or 4 times on each side of my head(it's all detangled by then). I do the same combing and brushing process in the morning (I only shower at night) My problem seems to lie with the fact that my hair tangles really easily and the fact that my hair doesnt have that much volume or bounce to it. And it easily falls into front of my face, so wearing it down is a pain(but i still do it hehe). Just wondering if I am doing something wrong, or not doing something that I should be. Maybe not using a product that I should be??? I dunno, that's why i want your comments, suggestions, help. whatever.
Thanks
Paul
MY EVIL PICTURE (it's such crappy quality, and I put on my evil face hahaha sorry, it was for a heavy metal message board that I belong to. hehe)
Awesome hair, guy! How about some more pix to show the full length in the back (loose) and perhaps a photo or two of it hanging straight down to see the length of the fringes (bangs) loose in the front? Take care and happy growing!!!
John
I will next week, in another thread (I'm home for the long weekend)
About the tangling, I had the same thing when I first grew mine out. Eventually I got it very moist and nicely weighted. I attribute this to 1- Shampooing less often, 2- Using a good leave-in conditioner (as well as the after-shampoo kind, and 3-Pantenol in the shampoo (I'll note that Victor makes a good argument against Pantene and such shampoos because they coat your hair with silicon).
Anyway, after maybe a year or more of this, I trimmed back a few inches of dryish-looking ends and the remaining 18" looked great, had a nice texture and didn't tend to tangle as much.
I like 'Glory to the Brave' - it is used as a theme to a TV show where I live.
Cheers
