Hello!
What do the most of you consider to be the sign(s) of the end of the awkward phase?
Banana
When you're no longer annoyed with it, it's no longer "awkward." Some people are lucky--or mellow--enough to never be annoyed with their hair at any stage of growth. These people, I would say, have discovered the secret to avoiding the "awkward stage" altogether!
Ancient proverb says: "Perhaps it is not the hair that is awkward, but the person wearing it."
AHA! Ancient secret revealed!

First off...LOVE the banana:

If you don't mind, I'll use it from now on.
Secondly...You criticize yourself WAY too much. I know you're not serious about still being in your awkward stage, for your hair is too beautiful for anyone in their right mind to think so. But still to put yourself down so easily . . . JUST STOP IT! :)
Again, love the banana.

Wow Angel that's some great hair... Loads of volume, guess that's what you are complaining about, but there are many guys who would love to have that amount of thick hair.
Still we all think the grass is greener, people with straight hair want wavy hair, people with wavy hair want straight hair, people with fine hair want volume, people with volume want smooth sleek hair. Its always the way
The good news is you can go for the look you want with minimum fuss, if you want some advice just tell us the look you are looking for and I'll make some suggestions.
For me the most awkward part of the awkward phase was when my hair was long enough to get in my face and eyes and keep me from seeing! When I could tuck my hair out of the way behind my ears and bend over and look down without hair being a problem and having to continually brush it away or hold it back, I was done with the awkward phase. Yeah!
But I didn't consider myself a longhair until I could make a ponytail with everything staying in it. Of course everybody's different on these names.
Because my hair is mostly straight, for myself the stage ended when the flips cease at the ends. In my case it took 3 years for all to lay absolutely straight.
A catch-all definition would be "safe ponytail". But for me there were a number of false starts, in the first pic, 14 months, my hair looks great - kinda grungy and cool. Then the next pic a month later is way more awkward as my hair started to flip at the shoulders. Finally after 2 years I was past of all that as you see in the final photo. Along the 9 months in between there were good months and bad months, it was very much a cycle.
I should really republish my progress pics.
Should I really republish my progress pics? [embarrassed]
Hi Sorted,
By all means do so! I only joined the hyperboard in September, then joined the crew in March, but I had NO idea that you even had a progress website, since I never got to know you that well. However, ALL progress sites are appreciated, and are genuinely inspirational to those growing their hair.

No embarrassment needed. Please republish with notes. It'll help.

I remember that i watched your progress a few years ago when you had them on that site, you were actually an inspiration for me, it would be fun to see the pics again:)

When I could get it all in a pony tail and have it stay there.
So I wouldn't have to deal with it if I didn't want to.
