Good evening all! I searched the board for this topic and am either blind(wouldn't be the first time I have been told that) or it isnt here. Take a look at this pic. I was wondering if the bit of curling action and the frizz that come along with it are part of the awkward stage, or if it would kind of straighten out with some length. The frizz isnt as bad right after I run a comb through it, and the top of my hair is straight. But both sides in the back do this weird curl up and out thing. The middle doesn't. Any ideas from the pro's?
You are going through the beautiful stage known to all as "the akward stage". Nothing can get you through this faster then not looking to closely at your hair. As for the curls and waves, time is all that is needed.

Hey, Fuego! I wouldn't worry one tiny bit if I were you. You are going through the infamous "Awkward Phase". As it gets longer, it'll settle down. Enjoy the ride and keep it growing. Don't forget to steer clear from the scissors!
So far, the natural fall of your hair could not be considered awkward or frizzy, but just an assurance that you are not advertizing an excellent brand of Dutch Paint. Consider yourself lucky.

Yep that's all part of the awkward stage! Basically what's going on is that the fine wispy ends of your hair around your neckline have nothing to hold them in place so they kick up around your neck and collar.
It's a bit soon to do anything much about them, beyond buzz them and go for a short back and sides look whilst the top grows out towards ear length, so I'd encourage you to suffer them for a bit longer. Over the next few months you hair will bulk out a bit more and these wispy ends will become less noticeable, but if they still annoy you once the length at the back is 2-3 inches longer, then you might want to consider getting the bottom layers trimmed up by 1/2 an inch or so.
This might sound counter productive, but an upwards curl/flip can effectively take the same amount off the length of your hair anyway, (by virtue of the fact it'll refuse to lay flat). So in real terms you don't loose anything, provided of course, you are clear about your long hair goals with whoever trims your hair.
But for now leave it, its just the awkward stage kicking in.
Welcome to the start of the Awkward Stages!!!
And it was nice being in Chat with you, too, just the other day, --- so glad you found us!

Thanks for the info everyone. I am deff. going to suffer throught it, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the first sign that my hair was going to be a frizzy mess all the time. LoL
Just part of the awkward stage which will pass in 2/3 months when your hair gets some weight.
You've nice looking hair, just be a little more patient and take no notice of anyone who suggests trimming now will help - they will just grow back the same and you will face the issue again.
Regret it you will not
