Hi all...here is a pic from a few months ago. I've been growing for a bit over 3 years, w/3 or 4 trims during the first 24 months. The tangles drive me insane, but I have no plans to cut!
Looks great!
Thank you kind sir!
Hi Friction,
First of all, welcome to the hyperboard, I am delighted that you have found our community. Congratulations on achieving 3 years of growth and for sticking with your hair growing journey. Your thick curls look awesome, and be sure to keep it growing. The rewards are WELL worth it!
All the best,
David
Thank you, David. I've actually posted on here a few times over the past years, but tend to lurk...I've learned alot from folks on the mlhh (especially during the "growing out" stage"), and stick around to check out all the updates (your's included). : )
Hi Friction,
That's cool that you have been around for so long. It is strange I have missed your posts before, as I don't miss a lot that is going on, but there ARE a lot of names to keep track of, and after all, I have only been here for a year. I had no idea that you had seen my update, but it is great you did. (hopefully you liked it!)
Take care, and see you around,
David
The curls......they are amazing!!!!!
Peace
clayton
lol - amazingly knotted! : ) But thank you - after a good wash and condition, they dry nicely. Pulling it back, however, results in knots like you wouldn't believe.
Quite an awesome curly mane you have there friction! Congratulations on 3 very successful years of crazy tangle, I mean extraordinary hair growth.
My sympathies and a big helping of patience sent your way as you work with your hair :) The results so far are awesome and I really shouldn't complain about the work tending my hair when I see the hair type you have and how wonderful you made it look!
Excellent hair dude :)
You are too kind! But yep, the PITA that is growing out is worth it in the end : )
Hi there,
Welcome to the community and that's amazing growth for 3 years and it's wonderful to see great looking curly hair. Do keep it growing.
Cheers,
John.B
Thank you sir, and will do!
Hey Brother: Your hair looks great! Hope I'll be looking like that next summer on my 3 year anniversary. I'm with you on the tangles....they're drivin' me nuts as well. Bruce'ster
Thank you for the nice words Bruce. I feel like I lose so much hair combatting the knots (I'm fairly impatient with them, thus I pull them out), but there are constantly replacements sprouting. So no worries, right ; )
Hi! Your hair looks great. The style and fullness really compliment your face. Keep it growing because it looks awesome.
Del
Why, thank you! I rarely get to wear it down as I pull it back for work, so I appreciate the compliment!
Hi there friction and I'll give my official welcome even though you've posted before. So far your hair looks fabulous after three years and from what I can see its only going to get better as you let it continue growing.Definately nice and thick with outstanding curls.Well certainly drop by more often and let us see more updates when you get the chance.Mark
Thanks! I've been tempted recently to have a small trim, but the longer it gets the better I like it (too many trims early on). Again, thank you for the compliments!
That long hair you have aquired looks terrific and goes with you perfectly. As for the tangles..........there is no reason in the world to have to put up with so much misery that they cause. I would look for split ends right away and target and destroy every one I could find. Result? Just about tangle free hair and only split end loss which is really a blessing to get rid of.
Best of luck to you.
Thanks for the compliment and the advice. You know, I find the tangles are the worst after pulling it back all day for work (I do a "lazy bun" by simply not pulling my tail all the way through the second pass). It makes no sense to me why this happens, but it does.
Also, I had to laugh when I read a message from Justin that even remotely alludes to scissors ; ) I tend to agree you with the anti-trim mentality as I would have SUCH a longer 'do at 3 years had I left it alone early on! It truly helped me through the akward stage, but I sure wish I could go back now.
Thanks again Justin!
Good grief Friction why are there not men in Utah like you? I love long hair on men and have long hair myself. I tend to get tangles a lot as well so I wash my hair with conditioner regularly and only use shampoo once a week. It keeps it soft and lusterous without the tangles and the damage shampoo does.

lmao! Aren't you kind? ; )
And yep, I pretty much was ONLY with conditioner unless I've been covered in dust or camping in the woods for a week...shampoo tends to dry it out terribly and the frizzies are almost comical.
Thanks for the advice and kindness ; )
It looks great friction. Curly hair is a challenge to grow. Keep growing it for sure.
Scott
Thanks so much...and it will keep growing for sure! : )
Superb Friction, nice and wild yeah!!
You look like one of the guys from NightRanger - Jack Blades?
Thank you sir - I consider you the King of Wild Hair on the MLHH ; )
And I suppose Jack Blades and I do have similar hair - also, when my hair is down, friends have taken to calling me Eddie Vedder (sans mohawk Eddie Vedder, I trust).
Thanks again!
Awesome hair, Friction! Your hair looks identical to mine! I can imagine why you have many tangles:-). Us curly heads are blessed with fabulous curls and serious knotting and tangles. Just use plenty of conditioner and be patient with the tangles.
Oh man, I love the conditioner too! I condition only wash, using copious amounts, then try to comb through it w/the conditioner still in...then a heavy dose of leave-in seems to help for a few days...anyway, thanks for the compliment!
Love the wild curlies! Have you tried using your fingers to remove tangles while you have conditioner in your hair? The conditioner makes hair slick and slippery, easier to work out tangles.
Carol
Thank you! : )
And yes, that is about the ONLY way I can get rid of them...TONS of conditioner, fingers, and a wide-toothed comb. I only do this once every week or two, and it lasts only for a day or so!
Again, thanks for the compliment!
Glad ti hear you have no plans to cut as your hair looks good.
I know the tangles can be annoying but they can be dealt with.
Kevin
Thanks Kevin. I lose alot of strands untangling, but no biggie.
Thanks again!
friction ..
I don't recall seeing a post from you in the past ... but in any case.. Welcome to mlhh.. Its a great place.
Your hair looks great. The curls give it tons of character too. Hopefully mine will develop as well as yours..
Again... welcome..
Be Blessed...
Tristan
Thanks Tristan! Man, I've watched you transform rapidly - I think your hair looks awesome.
