Does anybody know of a source of masculine-looking hair ties, clips, etc? I.e. no flowers and rainbows. :P
Hair ties? Walmart, Target, grocery stores, etc. Go to their hair aisles and there should be a whole display of simple hair accessories from hair ties to clips to bands to pins and barettes. There should be a thing of black elastic hair ties with a couple dozen for a couple dollars. I also bought a thing of elastic hair ties in darker natural colors like brown, green, tan, and burgundy.
Clips? Again the aisle at Walmart or the grocery store should have some small clips of different colors, most likely including black or some man-friendly color or design.
Chopsticks? These can be bought at Oriental stores and tea stores and places that sell sushi implements and kits. I bought a pair of black and brown chopsticks that can be man-friendly.
Although it may seem a little girly of a place, stores such as Claire's and Icing can be scoured to find some acceptable stuff as well. You may just have to look a little harder than you'd like and not be afraid of stares and questions.
Or you could ask female friends. A few of my female friends supplied my first hair ties.
Also, there are websites for nicer accessories. Mystic Caravan (http://mystic-caravan.com/index.htm although the site has been down for a while) has several Celtic hair items. Longlocks (http://www.longlocks.com/) has hairsticks for sale and a line of sticks especially for men: their ChapStix line. Tail Cuff (http://www.johnmroczek.com/) has metal ponytail cuffs. Also craft fairs are a treasure trove for hair stuff...or so I have heard.
Good luck.
Elmo. Here's a picture of my Tail Cuff. Sterling silver and a little pricey but very nice. Antesse listed the
web address in his post.

going to Ebay. Under search, type in "New celtic tree of life ponytail cuff - brass." This will bring you to that one item which is 9.95 at "buy it now." In the column to the right click on the sellers store and you will see a ton of things for both men and women for long hair. The place is located in Everett WA. and all is hand-made with very reasonable prices. I believe they are called the Treasure Trove.
Hope this is helpful.
Is this Treasure Trove?

If so, they have a website as well.
Treasure Trove
Yes. This looks to be the exact same place. Thanks Antesse.

You can't fine those in our local Asda!

Hope it doesn't turn you hair green. Unless you're into that kind of thing. :)
