Well, here we are people. 14 months since my last haircut (well, 2 days early). Anyway, here are my update shots:
Lately, I've been getting frustrated with my hair. Just when I thought it had settled down, it starts having a mind of its own again. The base of my hair looks constantly like a birds nest (frizzy) and is really messy looking all them time (It just started this month for some reason) I'm been contemplating over getting a trim for a while now, and I need your opinion. Should I go ahead and get a trim, or wait a little longer and see if my hair begins to cooperate with me? And if a trim is in my best interest, how much and where at?
Brandon, I would wait it out. It will ebb and flow it's way through many stges and finally settle down. I wouldn't trim it right now unless you absolutely have to!
peace, jonalbear
Thanks. And you're right. It's ebbing its way into annoyingness for me at the moment. :P Yeah, but I'll wait it out. Hopefully, things will start to calm down a bit. Thanks for the positive comments.
Hey man,
I would hold out on the trim. Your hair looks fantastic, I see no reason to shorten it to achieve results that might not come. You, in all practical terms, have just finished the awkward stage. The flip/frizz you have is expected..
Time will solve all.
Peace

Thank man! Hopefully, time will make things a lot nicer looking. Also, you have a great head of hair! Keep up the great work! :)
Wow, looking spectacular. You definitely have a head of hair to be proud of. As far as a trim goes, I can't say for sure whether or not you really need one, as it certainly doesn't appear necessary at this point, but then again pictures can only communicate so much...
Peace,
Ryan
Thanks! And yeah, I think I'll wait until my 2 year update until I think about getting a trim. Thanks for the awesome comments! :)
Wow ! That is A LOT of hair ! I would hold off on trimming. I suspect with a little more length and weight it will settle down....meanwhile, it really looks fantastic !!
Thanks for Sharing

Hah! A lot of people say that. I sometimes get the nickname "The Hair". It makes me sound like one of those monsters from the old horror movies! :P Anyway, thanks for the comments! :)
Hey Brandon, your hair is looking real good! The reason it curls so much at the base/ends is because you're just now getting past shoulder length. The constant bumping on your shoulders curls the ends. If you trim your hair now you'll have to suffer though it again and again. Be patient, it will settle down.
Bruce
Ah, OK. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. And thanks for the awesome comments! :)
Hi Brandon,
What an awesome update, your hair is looking absolutely fabulous for only 14 months of growth. You are blessed with a really fast growth rate, your hair is thick and healthy, and congratulations on such a great tail. As for your questions, my suggestion is to just let it grow for now. As your hair gets longer, the length and weight of it will cause it to lay flatter. You will probaly always have some natural waves as well, which will serve to make your hair look thicker and fuller.
Keep it growing,
David
Hey, thanks! Yeah, I think I'll hold off on a trim at the moment, and just let it do its thing. I don't need one at the moment (no split ends or anything), so I'll just wait it out. Thanks again for the continued support! :)
I'm at a little over a year's worth of length. You and I have similar hair in color. Mine started out straight, and you obviously have straight hair, but you and I both had the little "bird's nest" thing going on at the base.
What I did was trim it so that all of the hair was the same length, a la Kurt Cobain style. That made all the layers equal, eliminated the unevenness due to preexisting layers, and makes growing it out even more extremely easy.
You will lose length, possibly a few inches. Some people might say it's not worth it, but it made my hair lay better on my shoulders and what not.
Just my 2 cents.
I was thinking about getting it cut evenly for a while. And I might still do it when my hair gets a bit longer. However, the thought of loosing all that length kind of frightens me, so I probably won't do it for another year or so. Anyway, thanks for the advice, though. And the same looking kind of hair...Creepy! :P Anyway, keep it growing, man!
My hair is basically doing the EXACT same thing as yours also. It's so annoying having layers when you've got a bit of wave in your hair and having thick hair as well.
What you could do is keep getting trims on your bottom layer every few months until it evens up with the rest, but you will get that flick again from your shoulders still when your top layer hits your shoulders. After it evens up within 6months-1year you should be past the awqard stage (Depending on how fast your hair grows I guess). I've been doing that and I thought it made it look a bit neater loose, but it still fits in a ponytail since I havent been touching the other layers.
Or you could just leave it till all your layers are past your shoulders and the flick will dissapear, then when that top layer hits your desired length get it all cut to 1 length.
Either way I don't think you can go wrong either way, just the first way will probably makes it look a little better loose and it will be ideal for growing to 1 length. I guess it all depends if you want your hair when its long to be 1 length or layered :P
Also like another dude said, some sideburns would look really good on you.
Your hair is just fabulous, don't trim it yet unless you've got some splits. I have to say the waves at the ends give it a nice soft and natural appearance which I'm sure would make many jealous of your hair, men & women included!
Brandon, your hair is a speed demon. =D
As for the trim, don't worry about it yet. Really, it looks fine, and we all get frizz. That's just part of having long hair. Hope your weekend is treating you well. =)

Hi Brandon,
Nice (grow fast) update! Your hair looks wonderful. Keep it growing.
Take care

Great update Brandon and your hair is looking ever so fabulous!
As for the "frizzies," we all have them to one extent or another. But as for the trim, the photos say your hair doesn't need it.........however at this point "if" you are not having snag and tangle problems galore or are seeing split ends all over the place I would tend to leave all alone.
Best of luck to you. Your long hair looks fantastic!!!!!
Looks really great - fantastic.
Jonathan
Hi Brandon,
You certainly have amazing hair growth for 14 months and your coming towards the end of the awkward stage and I would not worry about the fizz and that will disappear once it gets long. I would hold off with a trim and leave it growing for the time being. The hair looks fantastic and keep it growing.
Cheers,
John.B
Definitely wait on the trim try other things first and at least it goes into a tail so you can just tie it back when it bugs you.
Once i got my hair into a tail many years ago I was terrified of trimming it as it would set me back and if they took to much off back into the awkward stage again.
You have really good quality hair so I would hold off.
Kevin
OK - first up great hair! You hair is at that awkward stage where all your layers are either just past or just reaching your shoulders, good news you are reaching the end of the awkward stage! You really have two options:
1) Wait until all your layers pass your shoulders and your hair will settle down. You've got about another 6-10 months to wait.
2) Trim slightly to make then ends a little blunter and remove some of the layers, this will help your hair to behave, but be warned the awkwardness might reappear and you might have to repeat the process in 3 months time.
Any time should involve taking no more than 1-2 inches off the bottom and nothing more than the very ends off the top layers. This will reduce the gap between the longest layers on the top your head and the longest layers from your neck line. Its this difference that causes the awkwardness.
First, congrats on another lovely update. You're hair is really getting long!
Secondly, I would hold off on the trim and let things sort themselves out. From the pictures it looks like much of the problemis being caused by the end of your mane interacting with your shoulders. I would think that as it gets longer that problem will take care of itself.

I think your hair looks great. As for the trim, i would echoe the other fellas. Lot's of good points already. Though I would suggest some side burns for you. I think it could really round out your look. Just any idea anyway. Keep on growing.
Hey Brandon! A great update, hair's lookin really nice and not messy at all, i don't think a trim is in sight yet, if i were you i would probably wait a few months more:)
Take care!
Simon
hey
Brandon
Your hair looks great my hair does the same thing as yours but I use leave in conditioner to resolve that problem it helps so it prevents me from getting trims that are really not needed but i think im about due one myself now as I havent had no kinda cut or trim since October 2004
Axel
That's some awesome looking hair! Keep it flowing.
First off... DROOL!!! Ok, I'm now a dirty old woman.
Now for the serious part. You've heard of "bad hair days"? Typically, that's when the humidity is high, and the cuticle on each hair spreads out and fluffs up, causing the frizz. If that's what's happening to you, try using Anti-Frizz Serum (that is the name of the product) or a shampoo and conditioner formulated for fighting frizz. You've got body, you don't want to totally flatten the hair, so put the conditioner/serum only on the ends, and maybe leave it on, don't rinse it off, for overnights.
Now, back to drooling over the pics...
