Hi All,
I posted earlier with no replies...musy have done something wrong. I am new with a goal of mid-back or longer hair if possible. I am just starting the process and purchased Ojon restoring treatment and Wen cleansing conditioner from qvc.com. Does anyone have other recommendations of things to use to keep my hair growing out healthy. I also wondered if there are any websites with pictures and how-to's for different hairstyles for long haired guys...not just ponytails but braids and masculine looking buns or updos. Just to see what I can look forward to and keep me away from scissors in the awkward phase. Thank you for your help.
Never heard of Ojon until you mentioned it and found this:
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=142423&catid=25437&aid=337572&aparam=ojon_restorative_hair_tre
Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is a unique, highly-concentrated and versatile hair rejuvenator containing 100% pure Ojon palm nut oil ~ the same oil used by the Miskito Indians of Central America for over 600 years. Ojon instantly hydrates and improves the condition of damaged, color-treated or processed hair without weighing it down. Fortifying, rebuilding and nourishing, it leaves hair extraordinarily shiny, silky and manageable. Ojon is color safe.
Ideal for dry, dull, damaged, natural or chemically-treated hair.
Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is primarily used as a deep conditioning hair treatment, but it can also be used as a leave-in conditioner and as a shine enhancer. It even makes a great moisturizer/body polish.
A portion of the profits from the sale of Ojon go directly to the Miskito Indian tribes to help preserve their traditional lifestyle as well as the rainforests of the region.
Sounds like something marketed more to make you feel good about buying it than actually feel good from using it...
You're earlier post probably didn't draw many responses because a) its Sunday and the board is traditionally quieter on weekends and b) you come across a little creepy with your talk about looking for photo sites of "how-to's for different hairstyles for long haired guys...not just ponytails but braids and masculine looking buns or updos."
Thanks Sorted. maybe the Ojon works and maybe not. I'll find out. As far as "creepy".. sorry dude, not my intent. I did say "masculine"...just other styles. Thanks again for the link above.
Understand, that in my experience people who post here fall into two broad groups, those that are longhairs/wannabe longhairs and those that admire/are attracted to long haired men yet have not intention of growing their own. Personally it doesn't bother me which of these two sets you fall into provided that you are honest about were you stand. Only that if you are simply an admirer, then please respect the fact the board doesn't exist to satisfy a fetish.
I've been a member here for 4-5 years and in the past I've moderated this board, so I've seen a lot of posts. Much like a spam filter, after a while you get tuned into suspicious messages, occasionally you strike a false positive (which I may have done), but if you write email that looks like spam, then you can't blame people for not reading it.
Let's face it: "masculine updo's" are a contradiction in terms.
I fall into the wannabe/soon-to-be longhair group. I'll prove myself over time. Your points are well taken. No worries. And I won't mention any products by name...my bad. I'm learning.
Er Dude...
That wasn't the problem with your post!
Though if you want some advice... Generally its good form to post a pic of your own progress, before asking for pics of others.
How rude of me! Well, welcome Michael! Glad you found us. I don't have any experence with the products you mentioned but remember that no two people are the same, so what works for someone else, may not work for you, and vica versa. I would say Google it and if nothing terrible comes up, try it. As far as getting though the awkward stage unscissored so to speak, you need two things, patiences and a thick skin. Those will serve you well.
Take care,
Bruce
Thank you Bruce for the wise advice. I appreciate the guidance of experienced long hairs so I do not have to repeat common mistakes and slow my progress. Gracias Amigo!! : How rude of me!
