If it looks as great as it does now, just wait that additional year you speak of. You will be amazed! (The longer the hair, the easier it becomes to see how the facial hair is in harmony with all.)

Your hair looks really great, everything seems to be coming along well. At nine months its just a case of waiting until the fun starts really, its not really looong but it isn't short either - but you need to just wait and as ayou say in a year it WILL be long.
The facial hair looks cool, it does add an extra touch in my opinion, so I would say don't get rid of it, and if you can expand it then why not!
Anyway good luck on your jorney, keep it growing.
