Good morning friends! I have a quick question before I go to work. Back in my short hair days if I wore a hat to often I would get little red bumps on my scalp that itched pretty good. I would use a Wal-Mart brand of medicated shampoo one time and it would take care of it. Since I have been growing my hair out I have not been having this problem because I have not been wearing hats. Well this morning I woke up to the darn annoying bumps. Would an application of that shampoo be ok every once in a while, and should I condition afterwords or no condition to let the shampoo do its job? Thanks in advance for the help!!!
Maybe it would be best to see your doctor. thats my advice.

I think most of us here are always hesitant to give advise re. something that sounds like a medical problem, since none of us are doctors here (that I know of, at least), and we can't physically inspect the problem in-person, anyway. Having just said the above disclaimer (lol), my guess is that if the shampoo you refer to has worked in the past when you had short hair, I see no reason why it wouldn't also work now that you have it a bit longer.
As far as conditioning after shampooing goes... I personally never put conditioner on my scalp; but, that's because my scalp happens to produce plenty of natural oil on its own. As I remember from seeing your pic, your hair is not really long enough yet to have to worry too much over using a lot of conditioner to get out tangles, as serious tangling problems don't ususally happen until most people's hair is closer to shoulder-length or longer.
But again, back to my original comment... I still think it would be best for you to see a Dermatologist, and follow whatever his/her advise may be.
My best to you!

I'd use the medicated shampoo. I see no problem hair-wise with using the medicated shampoo as I am mostly sure it is formulated for hair and should not harm hair all that much. Still, "healthier" shampoos are preferrable and some swear by no shampoo. But I would go ahead and use the shampoo and if the problem continues or pops up again, I'd see a doctor. Not to try to second guess the doc but I am guessing he'd tell you to buy the shampoo and use it. Those bumps are probably like the "cold" for scalp skin. As for conditioner, I'd probably steer clear of that while using the shampoo as I do not know if it would affect the medication or healing (or if it irritates the scalp).
But I am not a doctor...although one of these days I will be a doctor...of philosophy...in the biomedical sciences...
