. . . yes, an event next week in Philly, from Friday the
twelfth 'til Sunday the fourteenth. And musical quests are
the bands Estampie and Qntal. Click on the link provided
below. It oughta be very cool.
Hey, I'm sure most of the featured guests AND fans alike
will be sporting longer styles of hair. See ya there, definitely!
Yours in longhaired and mythopoetic camaraderie,
Quenyan
Hi Quenyan,
Thanks for sharing this link, too bad I could not be there (Nova Scotia is just too far away!), as I enjoy both SF and fantasy. (I love the Lord of the Rings books and movies) Perhaps some time I will get to such an event after I retire next year.
Perhaps next time,
David
It really shows off your hair nicely.
Indeed, and the beard too :)
Hi derf26,
Thank you for your kind words about my avatar, I appreciate it.
Take care,
David
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your kind words about my avatar, I appeciate it!
Take care,
David
(PS, I haven't been able to access the LHC community, I keep getting server errors)
I agree, David's new avatar is awesome!
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your kind words about my new avatar. The weather has been magnificent in Nova Scotia lately, you should visit my fair province sometime, I would be delighted to show you around.
Take care,
David
Hi Quenyan,
That sounds very cool indeed! Perhaps I might even meet you on my planned road trip in the spring of 2009. I think I recall that you live in NYC if I am not mistaken.
Take care,
David
T'would be my pleasure, DavidN, as my kind (familial indocrination from three generations back, at least, of Old World hospitality!) like to play host! I'm a scant half hour's train ride northbound from OUT of Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan, and, having lived the better part OF a decade in the City, I'd be more 'an happy to play City guide to you, one of my favorite presences here on the hyperboard, and/or to anyone else who happens to breeze into towne from here. Your responses to me have always been stellar, thank you! I'll see what I can do! Best reg(u)ards always!
Yours in encumbent beardedness AND longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan
Saoirse agus Anam!
(Gaelic for "We will rise again!")
Hi Quenyan,
Thank you for your kind offer, and yes, I would be delighted to meet you on my road trip in 2009, as NYC is defintely on my route. As New York can be a bit overwhelming, any assistance in finding my way around is very welcome!
On a side note, I don't know if you saw my pictures of my golf course in Nova Scotia that I posted just a little ways up from this post, but it is a real change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the big city. If you ever have the opportunity to get up to my fair province, I would be delighted to show you around.
Take care,
David
(PS. That is a GREAT picture of you, and your hair is looking awesome!)
Hey DavedN,
Yes, indeedy, I saw your wonderfully bucolic pics from your
update at Lost Creek in Nova Scotia. Lovely terrain, that.
The only problem, if a problem it tis, is that most of the
links near me are private membership; there is Leewood at
the Eastchester/Scarsdale border, Lake Isle at the Scarsdale-
Eastchester border, Whippoorwill in North Castle (I deign to
even speculate as to their membership fees, yeesh, surely
astronomical!), and Dunwoodie in Yonkers, a very hilly link,
but, then again, Yonkers is renowned as the City of Hills, and
it is a rangeable game, fortunately, no annual dues need apply
there), but quite challenging, that.
Well, sadly, a greenscaping commisssion I'd depended on for my
stopover at the Philly convention was moved back. I shan't be
attending its magnificent festivities, sure to be rife with
our longer-haired compatriots. Such is the working life. Oh,
well. Next year per chance.
Best always in longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan
P.S. ~ Aaand, thanks for your support; the beard'll come when
its day is due. An outback trophy from outback living mayhaps?
If this were closer to me I might just have gone, I am a big fan of the movie the Dark Crystal for which Brian Froud did the art design, and I also have a CD of medieval music by the band Estampie. Two things I love but alas it is too far for me to travel at this time, but thanks for sharing the info.
Heeeeey ChrisG! It's nice to see another fan of the Frouds and Estampie here on MLHH! Unfortunately, as I've jus' told DavidN in Nova Scotia, I kinda jus' "lost" the greenscaping gig I had depended on for my timely attendance at the Philly convention. It would've guaranteed my attendance there. Alas, it wuzz bumped back to an after date. Such is the work-a-day world of commissions and appointments. Too bad for me, ay? Next year!
In the interim, you can visit http://estampie.de to purvey their updates (however, be ye apprised it's all in German; Sprochen die Deutsch?) as well as their OTHER project, their alter ego band, Qntal, at http://Qntal.de , quite a diff direction, that!) but I'm linking Brian and Wendy Froud's site herewith below. Thanks for posting. I appreciate it!
Best in Sci-Fi and Fantasy AND longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan
I am sorry you are going to miss this event too Quenyan. Well I hope you can find something to do locally to make it up to yourself instead. Go catch a movie and dinner with a friend, always a good substitute and sure to please :)
Take care
