It was unusually warm today and somewhat humid. This humidity causes my waves to be more pronounced. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I like how they make my hair appear fuller but they're hard to brush through and thoroughly detangle. This is evidenced in these pics as the ends look kind of tangly. Some of the reddish highlights remain especially in certain lights.
Although I'm loving this length I can't wait until it's much longer! I guess I'm hair anorexic as it still feels kind of short to me!
Hi Jason,
As always, your hair looks awesome, it is just so incredibly thick in these photos. Your hair seems to have a lot more waves in recent days as well. You appear to be blessed with the same beautiful weather as I have been in Nova Scotia. I assume these photos must have been taken close to your home.
I took some photos of my own on Monday, and posted them just below your thread. The golf course I play at is genuinely beautiful, and is blessed with many natural streams and ponds.
Take care,
David
(I assume you are having the same difficulties accessing the LHC as I have had as well as theAnimeway, which he mentioned in his post. If you have a workaround, it would be great if you could let me know. Thanks!)
Thanks David.
LHC went down around 11 this morning I think. I don't know of any back door although I seem to remember there was a way to access it before when it went down. Perhaps Trolleypup would know how it works.
Hi Jason,
That is about the time it went down for me this morning. I hope they get it repaired before tomorrow, as one of my favourite LHC members has a birthday at that time ( I have it marked down), and I do not want to miss out on wishing her a Happy Birthday!
David
You may think your hair looks tangled but to me it is awesome.
I can only wish that I had hair like you. I can't wait for the
day when you match the "infamous" Danny Cecati for length.
You have full, healthy looking hair and besides waiting for
another 3' or 4' of length I can't see you having any serious
hair problems.
That's an interesting place you are at in your pics. Where is
it?
Haha, I highly doubt I'd have the capability for Danny's terminal length and even if I did, I don't think I'd grow my hair that long. Classic length, however, holds quite an appeal.
I agree, 3 or 4 inches would help with my hair anorexia - some!
That place is a wildlife sanctuary a few miles from my house. I love to stroll through it and see how it looks during the various seasons.
Thanks for your comment.
Hey Jason, super pics showing your wonderful hair. My goal...at least I hope is to have a length similar to yours although of course I will hever have the density that you have...oh well. I prefer that blunt, all-one-length look so I guess I'll have to endure a few trims in the upcoming months/year which will add lot of time to this already seemingly endless process.
Well done...can't wait until I'm completely happy about my progress, but perhaps I'm hair anorexic as well!
Cheers,
Max
Hi Max,
I'm so with you in liking the blunt, all-one-length look. It's true, it does require some moderate cutting of the back for a while but once you're there, you can pretty much let it all grow with just small trims of the back periodically.
You're certainly well on your way. It's funny how so many of us grow beyond our original goals. We just want more hair!
Thanks...
Beautiful country you are strolling through. Your hair sets off the scenery nicely !!
WWT
Thanks Walter. That area is just at the cusp of really showing its autumnal beauty. I can't wait.
Hi Jason your hair looks fantastic:) Its been very humid here in NJ today and it even rained a bit so I can definately see its affect on my hair.In spite of it I actually like the extended summer we've been having which is kind of amazing for October.I have to say your hair looks very thick and hopefully it will stay that way all the way to waist length. That would truely be an awesome mane as I wish mine were a bit thicker but hey I'm happy with what I've got:) Anyway thanks for the cool nature pics with your hair adding to the scenery.Your certainly on your way!!Mark
Thanks for the kind words Mark. Your hair has always struck me as being very thick and serves as an inspiration. Hopefully mine will maintain its thickness as it lengthens.
Beautiful photos, Jason. Natural hair in its natural habitat. :-)
I hear you on the waves. When my hair is exposed to humidity the look is definitely uniqe, but the tangles increase, particularly if it's humid AND rainy...and my hair isn't even long yet.
Thanks for sharing!
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
I'd say your hair is thicker and wavier than mine so I can see how you'd identify. Although they may be more work for the most part I love wavy hair. Yours is so nice at its present stage and I'm looking forward to added weight causing your waves to stretch out a bit.
Thank you!
Jason
Hey Jason...
It never ceases to amaze me that you have some of the best hair and nature shots on the board. - Truly an inspiration for us short-haired guys! Keep up the great photos and excellent progress on the journey man.
Be Blessed...
Tristan
Hey Tristan,
Thanks for the supportive comment. You've provided us with some tremendous nature shots. I'll never forget that one from the summit of that mountain - just amazing.
It's kind of funny to hear you call yourself short-haired. Most of society would classify you otherwise but as our hair lengthens our definition of "short" does change. Great new avatar by the way! You have some fantastic waves that will be interesting to watch as your hair gets longer.
Jason
Hi Jason ...
I hadn't really thought about it until you posted this.
"As our hair lengthens our definition of short does change..." I honestly never realized that, but you're exactly right. To me; my hair feels incredibly short... even though I'm starting to get alot of comments at work about it's gaining length. Someone called me "Brandon Lee" from the movie, "The Crow" just today ... it was funny..
I'm in hopes to get some really good nature shots this winter for everyone to enjoy. It's already snowing in the mountains here. Since you've been out this way before; you know the splendor it provides...especially in winter time. Does your friend still live in Boulder? That's a great place.. I'm not too far from there..
Thanks again for your support Jason..
Tristan
ps. This is a picture of a "friend" we met on my last mountain climb ... Mt. Grays.. elevation 14,270 feet. He was not afraid of us .. we we're visiting his home!
Hi Tristan,
My friend actually moved from Boulder to Denver in June. I flew into Denver and we left from there on our trip to the three national parks in July.
Your friend looks a lot like the friend I met at Glacier Park:
I love how tame they are! I'm curious, how did you find it hiking at elevations over 14,000 feet? Perhaps since you live at elevation already it wasn't too bad. I have a friend here in Massachusetts that likes to hike those but has problems when he goes over 12,000 feet.
Jason
Hey Jason...
Great picture! You got closer than we did! They are very suprisingly tame.
I didn't realize you went with the same friend from Boulder on your recent vacation through the national parks. Thats great. Denver is a nice town ... but I'd much rather be in Boulder. - Even though Boulder is very very expensive..
I already live at about a little over 5,000 feet in elevation which helps with all the physical mountain activities. However, with hiking and climbing for me; once I'm above 13,500 my lungs will burn slightly with a lot of exertion. Its not bad if you're not moving ... but once you start moving again it can get rough very fast; and I'm in better than average shape because I'm a runner/sprinter.. which hopefully gives you a better idea of the stress it causes. Interestingly enough; we do have a lot of visitors that come out to ski or snowboard and don't take a day or so to acclimate and end up in the emergency room with pulmonary edema. (Lungs filling up with blood that was pushed out through the circulatory system in the bottom of the lungs). Obviously, at that point you can't breathe very well and in the hospitals we load them up on steroids (anti-inflamation) and a diuretic which pulls fluid off.. But, everyone is different. Some people have a problem with the high altitude and then others come right from the coast and go straight up and do fine.. The main thing is to really stay hydrated out here and to take a day or so for your body to adjust... that seems to help more than anything else..
I read on your website that you like snowboarding... if you ever decide to head back this way; we should go.. I plan on posting some snowboarding pictures at some point this winter.. Hopefully my hair will be long enough to provide for a good shot!
Take Care...
Tristan
My friend loved Boulder but he does a ton of flying for his job and the commute to Denver got to be too much. He also was able to buy a house in Denver whereas he couldn't afford one in Boulder.
Thanks for the info on hiking and climbing at altitude. I've never gone that high so I'm not sure how I'd react. My goal is to get into much better shape. I'm sure your having a high fitness level helps you a lot.
Yeah, I love snowboarding. Have you ever gone to Vail? I went there with this same friend in January 2006. I loved it! We hit a perfect day with crystal clear blue skies. It was a treat to have so much wide-open terrain. Here in the East that is very rare. I loved being able to go anywhere I wanted in the huge bowls. Thanks for the offer. I'll definitely let you know if I can plan another trip. If you ever head East, please let me know. There are a lot of mountains not too far from where I live in Massachusetts.
Here are a few pics from my day at Vail:
open space for riding!
Hey Jason..
Those are some fabulous shots! I love the blue sky at high altitude. So bright and clear. I've never been to Vail to ski. It's pretty expensive these days.. I prefer Loveland Ski area, Copper mountain, Eldora, or Winter Park.. Those are all great places with less cost involved.
If you do decide to head out here; there are tons of natural hot springs to soak in here... talk about awesome.. I've been in some while its snowing... it just totally rocks dude. Especially after a hard day of boarding!
Hey; I'll take you up on your offer to visit Massachusetts sometime! The farthest north-east I've been was Ohio. I'd love to see some of the rich American history there; plus go boarding as well!
It stinks your friend had to move from Boulder; but understandable. Economics is the name of the game sometimes.. most of the time for me.
Talk to you soon..
Tristan
Wonderful photos, fantastic hair, beautiful location!
peace, jonalbear
"Hair anorexic?" Lol, that's a good one, Jason!!
As always, your outdoor shots, --- both of the gorgeous background scenery, as well as your great head of hair --- are hands-down SUPERB!!!
It should be fun to see whatever length you end up considering no longer "anorexic" (lol)!!!!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Over at the Long Hair Community the term comes up periodically. LOL - I'm thinking it might take classic length to "cure" me.
Thank you!
Jason
Hey Jason
As always, this posting from you is just so beautiful with nature all around. And of your long hair? Gorgeous! It looks superb the way it is now and the colours are simply fantastic! Based on what you have said you will probably love long hair even more when it is waist level if this is your desire.
Thanks for sharing these series of photos with all of us.
Justin~
Hey Justin,
Thanks for your comment. Your length is certainly an inspiration. I'm very much looking forward to reaching where you're at and then I'll re-evaluate its thickness to determine how much longer I'll go. If it's still thick, I'd love to go all the way to classic.
I think Nature and long hair go together. Long hair is, afterall, natural.
Regards,
Jason
Great hair, Jason! As always. :)
Thanks Eric.
I wanted to mention that your last update was impressive. You've got a nice growth rate and very healthy hair. You should be able to reach whatever goal length you decide upon.
Jason
Still the classical inspiration, as always. Looking great, Jason, especially the highlights in the sunlight. =)
-James
Thanks James.
It's exciting that you appear to be almost out of the awkward stage. Those are great pics on your website of your ponytail (the ones that show your hair when exposed to lower humidity). I know what you mean about the effects of humidity. On my trip out West in July I noticed my hair was far straighter due to the dry air.
Yeah, some of the red color glows in the sunlight, but your hair looks wonderful overall. And it looks like the first clors of fall are showing up too. It's still too green yet in Maryland, but in a week or two the trees should be really changing. The temperatures are once again hot and humid. Mother Nature provides a great backround for pictures, not too mention great lighting of one of her finest gifts, our hair.
Carol

Very nicely stated, Carol. Thanks for your comment.
Great set of pics, Jason. Your hair looks awesome. I hear you about the humidity and waviness. My friend, You have no idea how good you have it with the humidity! Try staying in Florida for a week. You'll be on frizzy street in Knotville ,Ouch! The humidity down here means serious business!.
Thanks Chris.
I can only imagine how humid you must have it in Florida. I admit I'd find that climate very hard to live in. I'm much more into cooler and especially drier climates. Everytime I go out West I love how my hair looks and feels because of the lack of humidity.
I think it does to a lot of us! Fine hair you've got there Jason. Very good photos too.
Keep it growing.
Neil
Thanks Neil - glad I'm not alone! :)
I really like the first photo the best, the water, the color of everything including that awesome red in your hair. It is all perfect Jason, outstanding photo.
This one below I also really liked, it had a quiet comtemplative feeling of someone setting out on a journey, which we all are with respect to hair and otherwise.
Awesome mane as always Jason and inspiring photography as well. I am glad that you have found peace with the many facets of life and I hope that every thing continues to go smoothly for you.
I have to be honest with you I am sorry I came off so strongly on those posts you did about the importance of hair and cutting it or not. I think I was jealous of you, not your hair as such (although that is certainly jealousy grade hair :) ) but of your passion for your hair and your identity. It has been several years since I have felt such a passion for hair or identity or really much of anything due to my severe depression. My frustration at being unable to feel these things spilled over into the above conversation and it was unfair to you. Sorry for that man, hopefully no hard feelings?
As for being a hair anorexic, I think the correct analogy might be hair glutton, since you cannot get enough rather than an anorexic who tries to discard as much as possible :) Guys who shave bald are hair anorexics, I think we really need a better word than hair glutton though :)
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your comments about my hair and photos. I particularly appreciated your individual analysis of what you liked about the two photos. I find certain photos capture different moods and it's cool you picked up on that too.
No hard feelings at all! I admit I used some pretty strong language myself. I suppose that when one struggles and gives up a lot to get something you really, really want there is a corresponding jealousy in protecting and defending it. You were right that I originally was speaking in hyperbole even though at the time it didn't feel like it to me.
I'm sorry that your depression continues. I know when I get sick for even 2-3 weeks at a time I get very down. I can only imagine when a condition goes on for much longer than that. I go through periods when I'm overwhelmed with various things and I can't be too concerned about my hair. I just try to ride these out knowing that when I come out the other side my passion and interest in having long hair will return. I'm glad you haven't done anything drastic to your hair while you're in this state of semi-ambivalence. I hope that soon things will look much brighter and you'll feel passion returning for many aspects of life.
Jason
Looks really nice! Both the scenery and hair go together very well:)
Simon
Thanks Simon. I'm glad you liked the combination.
Man! Your hair gets better every time you do an update! I can't wait until I reach that length. Keep up the good work, for sure! :)
Hey Brandon,
Thanks! I can't wait to see your continued progress. Your hair is definitely thicker than mine and it will only look more awesome as it lengthens. Keep your updates coming!
Jason
I love your hair dude, keep growing.
-animosity
Thanks, man. I'm looking forward to seeing your continued progress as well.
At one with nature. Your pictures are always inspiring Jason. Thanks!
Bruce
Thanks Bruce. I'm glad they can serve as some inspiration.
Looking great Jason! I admire your waves.
Bit of a late post but as always your hair looks fantastic, a great shade of color and texture!
