Seeing how I am in an honest mood today I thought I would let you see the real me. I confess that I have been lying in my latest updates. They are not how I really appear! I could not wear my hair loose the way I do in my last updates as it would be impossible to see after awhile, so I tuck the bangs behing my ears (how convenient they are there :) ). Also I have reverted back to glasses since I have become ill as I the contact lenses that I used to use are no longer made and I have not devoted the resources to testing out new ones. The ones that were supposed to be similar replacements didn't work out and I didn't want to spare the time and effort on that right now. So this is who you are really talking to guys and gals!
Looks the same as far as I can tell...
I agree Antesse, Chris you look great in the specs and the hair tucked away, its just another version of you. I loved your views to my post below, they reveal more about 'you' than hair and glasses and I respect that very much.
~ Dave
Thanks Dave for the compliments about my looks and my words, I appreciate them. I sometimes really go off and post long winded responses on subjects involving hair and psychology and life etc. These are much more interesting topics for me than what kind of shampoo should I use and how often to wash. I let other people handle those questions. I never consider myself an advice giver on the board, mostly an encourager with an occasional helping of different point of view :) I was not really sure how my views would go over here and thought I might find more comments about them lol.
still as sexy as always.
hope to see you in chat again soon!
nic :)
You are such a sweetheart nic! You always say the nicest things and believe me I never get tired of compliments from a gorgeous woman!
Catch you soon :)
Hi Chris,
This is still a great photo of you (I see NO problems with you wearing glasses!), of course, your hair always looks awesome, with your super dast growth rate. One really needs to wear one's hair the way that works best for them. The "ear tuck" is one of the best ways to keep long hair out of your face. I find a ponytail most useful for golfing or physical activities where hair needs to be restrained, and wear it loose otherwise, and admit that I occasionally push it behind the ears when eating, etc.
I sure hope a cure for your condition can be found soon, I can imagine how frustrating it is for you.
Take care,
David
Hey thanks David I really appreciate the compliments :) I really prefer the staged look I usually present in my previous updates with my hair all hanging around my shoulders and not in my face but the truth is it never really looks that way in real life. The images I present in my updates are kind of what I used to imagine having long hair would be like when I used to daydream of having it. Unfortunately the reality didn't go as planned and I now realize that for me that look is really only a fantasy. This is actually very disappointing because it is what I really wanted and I can't have it :( I like the look but it is impossible to wear it that way (untucked). It sounds like you can wear yours loose and not tucked and get away with it. How do you do that, my hair flops right in front of my face in my way if I try it. So I tuck it or tail it. Can anybody wear their hair loose without tucking it and how do you do that?
I am still fighting my illness and hoping I am on the right track, time will tell. Thanks for your generous concern and warmth David, you're the best!
Hi Chris,
Actually, part of the reason I can wear it loose most of the time is that my hair is not really that thick, and I still need to tuck in certain situations. Although the thinning is not too noticeable in my updates, my hair is not as thick as it was when I was in my 40's. Back then, since my hair was so thick, my bangs could obscure my face and cause problems, now, they are somewhat thinner, and do not obscure my face. When I was in my 40's, I almost always had to "ear tuck", that is not as pronounced now. You are probably experiencing the same situation that I had when I was in my 40's.
It is entirely possible that with even more length, your hair will lie flatter with the extra weight of it, and you may be able to wear it untucked more often.
Hope this helps, and take care,
David
You bare some resemblance to me IMO, I also wear glasses sometimes (when studying), and look a bit like you, except my hair is shorter and I recently shaved my facial hair.
Besides, who cares who I'm talking to. It's what's inside that matters, not whether you wear contacts or glasses. I personally cannot wear contacts due to the sensitivity of my eyes, so I'm going to wait till laser surgery becomes safer and more affordable. Maybe within a few years? Who knows.
I just kind of felt like posting a mini update and thought it would be interesting to show what I really look like lol, not the great hair look. It's all in fun. I also wanted to get the laser surgery but when I was tested they told me I had too much astigmatism to correct. I also am blind in one eye and they said they wouldn't touch anyone without two good eyes. So I struck out on two counts. I was worried about doing it and heard stories of things going wrong so I was actually relieved when they said I couldn't have the surgery :)
still looking good bro! i like the glasses i think theyre cool.
Hey thanks man, I have had these same glasses since 1992 and havent broken them yet!
Hey Chris. I'm sorry to hear that you are ill and I hope that you feel better soon. I certainly don't think that you have been misrepresenting yourself, because you and your hair look just as great in this "honest" picture as you do in your other pictures. You come across as an honest, intelligent, caring person in your postings and your pictures reflect that. I like to post gimmicky, crazy pictures of myself, just to give people a laugh because that is my personality.
Del
I thought it would be interesting to show a different look and I wanted to post a pic lol. Lately the talk about people tucking in their bangs had me thinking. I love your pics Del and don't stop posting them :) They give us all a much needed laugh! I am sure you are even more fun in person and I imagine keeping up with you would be quite a challenge!
I don't see any difference between the 'real' you and the images you have posted before. I think all longhairs tuck their hair quite often when it's not tied back.
You have ideal hair. It appears to be healthy along its entire length and completely tangle free.
I realized that I always posted a look that to me is an idealized fantasy of what I would love to look like and decided that I should post the real everyday version of me as I really look :) I prefer the fantasy by far but maybe this isn't too shabby either I guess. Who knows you guys got me to like my gray so anything is possible! Thanks for the kind words Jason and keep encouraging all of us here, you are one of our best :)
I agree with Jason aside from your tucking hair behind your ears you look like Chris G. The glasses work real well I like the frames. Funny how I see other peopls glasses and think I would like those and when I go to the optometrist I have the hardest time picking frames.
Wishing you better health
Kevin
Hey thanks for the kind words and encouragement Kevin, I really appreciate them. I don't really like glasses all that much but these frames do work for me, in fact I have had them since 1992! I look better with contacts though I believe so I hope to go back to them sometime. I didn't know you wore glasses too, it is better to get photos taken without them I think and I did that for awhile here lol. O well today I was expressive!
Nice texture and wearing it behind the ears works well if
the hair isn't too thick.
Congratulations!
Thanks Luckskind for the compliment, if there is one thing my hair does well, it's not being too thick lol. How I wish it were thick and had just a bit of wave or something interesting. Well nobody will say it is way too girly this way so I guess thats something lol.
Well, you look fine to me, glassses and hair tucked behind ears notwithstanding. Sorry to hear you are still battling health. I'm still not free of that same struggle myself. I'm waiting for those silver-striped dark locks to end up in a simple three-strand braid going down your back. I think it would look so elegantly masculine on you. Did you get to Maryland Ren Fest this year?
Carol
Thanks for the compliments Carol, I don't prefer this look, I like the fantasy I normally portray but today was a day for bearing the soul I suppose, (its all Dave's fault lol) so here I am as I am.
I wouldn't wait up on those braids Carol as unlike many guys here I am a notorious conformist in some ways. As I posted on the topic about braids I cannot tell if society dictated to me that I shouldn't care for braids or whether that is an internal taste thing, I have no desire to have them whatsoever. Sorry :(
I am sorry we both are struggling with health issues it is certainly not something any of us deserve but life isn't fair at all and maybe this illness I have had for so long did me the favor of demonstrating that clearly. So bad was this illness that it shook what little faith I had in there being a God that I became an atheist during these ordeals, how's that for a huge and unexpected side effect of an illness :)
I did get to the Renfest this year but only once. I am on a strict diet as to what and how much I can eat and how much I can exercise. The last time I was there I had way too much food and too much exercise climbing the hills and wandering the huge grounds. It was a mistake to do that so I know now that I can't go this year again because the food there is one of my favorite parts and I would eat what I shouldn't and use up too much energy walking and want to eat all the more. I do hope to be able to enjoy it next year however!
Well, we all portray ourselves in portraits, that look nothing like our everyday selves. I ditch the glasses and head for the makep organizer, when it's a pic of how I want to present myself. The everyday me is clearly not the same. Have you ever been to one of those sites with pictures of the rish and famous, when they are not looking their most glamorous? The mug shots, the secret paparazzi shots when the stars least expected, a lot of them are not a pretty site. At least the everyday you still looks pretty good.
If I were young with a pretty face could I persuade you? (Need help from nic here) Still, I really think you, of all guys, could pull one of. You've got the face, the hair, for it. Growing long hair resulted in going outside a conformist comfort zone, maybe just try it once. Let someone put the braid in for you, and see for yourself. I'm not going to give up suggesting, because one day you may have a change of heart on the subject.
I could live with the hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis ( and the stupid drunk driver) that took away my mobility, and impaired it to the point that I need an assistive device, and can't go more than a certain distance, without a mobility scooter. At least I could still be somewhat active, even if I needed meds for chronic pain. It has it's perks, like front row seats at concerts. I could even make due with Fibromyalgia, new medication helped dramatically, I was finally getting restorative sleep, and functioning better overall. Having Asperger's Syndrome and Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia never interfered majorly with my life, I just saw them as annoying genetic blips that made things more interesting, and me more quirky. It's this Hasimoto's Thyroiditis that is driving me insane. Now I really feel like I am being robbed of a quality of life. And it is difficult to treat. None of the thyroid meds I have tried so far, will give me total relief. My doctor has thrown in the towel, I need to see an edocrinologist. I am told that Hashimoto's is especially hard to treat, and I wonder why I get this rotten diagnosis when I finally got improvement over everything else. It totally sucks big time.
I've always had a strong faith in God, but it has really been put to the test these past few years. But I honestly don't see myself ever being an atheist, perhaps because I had gone so far spritually, that I have been convinced of the existence of God. I am sorry that your ordeal drove you to atheism, you certainly are not alone, nor the first, in that regard. Whether you believe in God or not, I still think of you and pray for you. I don't have the words to convince you that God exists, and does care; and you probably don't want to hear them anyway, if I did.
I have heard the food is quite good. And I'd probably be overwhelmed by all of it myself. And the grounds are supposedly handicapped accessable, so me and my mobility scooter probably would manage. It's tough to go to a fair of any kind, where you know there will be all kinds of food, and your diet restricts you to what you can, and how much you can eat. My biggest obstacle to overcome, is extreme shyness, and not doing well in crowds, or social environments where there are lots of unknown people. There are events that I want to go to, but I get a case of anxiety, and change my mind about going. Social events tend to drain and exhaust me emtionally. I've since learned, once I found I have Asperger's Syndrome, that the autism is the reason. Though Asperger's is more mild, and less severe, than classic autism. I do best if I go with a few friends or family, and try to stay with them, and not mingle among strangers.
Take care, and I hope you can get the Candida problem finally sorted out soon. Now that it's fall, and the Endo is back in their office, I need to make an appointment. Office was closed for the summer, doctor only comes two days a week, from another area. I'm going to push for dessicated natural thyroid, instead of the non-working synthetics. Apparently dessicated thyroid is more effective. All I know is that I still feel like crap after two years of this. I am so tired of being run-down and tired all of the time.
Carol
PS Sorry for the long reply, feel free to email me off the hyperboard, should you wish to discuss anything further, or even just to vent.
then again, i did convince tristan to ditch the shades and show off his pretty face.
so, c'mon my internet boyfriend!! one little braid? just for us girls? you don't even have to post it, private emails are perfectly acceptable.
Hey Chris the real you looks fantastic and frankly you don't look all that different anyway from your previous pics.If you remember my posted pics from last weekend the one of me listed as formal was with glasses. Well those are perscription glasses as my eyesight does need some help at distances.LOL. Actually I like the glasses and didn't even consider contacts. They were kind of expensive but I wanted something that looked good on me so I ordered the frames from Oakley and had the perscription lenses done locally. At least some of the cost was covered by my insurance but not much.LOL.So Chris don't worry about the glasses as you know we all get old eventually even though I still think I'm 25! Sorry that I just missed you in chat before so maybe I'll try again later.Take care my friend.Mark
Well Mark I probably think of glasses with less kindness than you do since I have probably been wearing them longer. I remember I had glasses in at least the second grade! So I can't blame age lol. I have always had astigmatism and that is something I guess you are born with. You looked very sophisticated in the formal pic Mark the glasses look very cool on you, they were an excellent choice. Mine are Guess frames and they are circa 1992 lol!
Thanks for the compliments Mark I always enjoy your comments and posts wherever they appear here on the board as I enjoy your subtle sense of humor :) Take care my friend!
Hey Chris, what a great pic of you...and a motivating pic of your hair...well done!!! Hope to get mine as long as you someday. Hope you are feeling OK. One day perhaps I'll show a pic of myself with my glasses on. Wear the contacs during the day and when I'm home the glasses take over.
Cheers to you,
Max L.
Hey thanks Max I really appreciate the compliments! They keep me going too! Glasses aren't so bad but mentally I still picture myself without them as I like that better, a little mental revisioning lol. When I had contacts I left them in the whole day. Did yours bother you after awhile I was just curious why you removed them in the evening.
Take care Max
Hi Chris, curiously I like most people in glasses but as for myself...not so much...go figure. I take them out in the evening because after 8 or 12 hours they do bother me...my eyes are very sensitive. Hope yer havin a great weekend.
Take care Chris.
Max
That's a great pic, Chris. I reckon you might have caught up with me?
Thanks for the compliment Elektros. Hey I would love to find out the truth of whether I have caught up with you or not. That's a lie I just miss seeing you; haven't seen you in ages. We don't live far apart and I am near DC I would love to get together some day or evening sometime and chat and hang out. I don't think I will be doing the Renfest this year though. Maybe something else, if you want to get together sometime and are free (like thats easy with kids lol) send me an email through here.
Take care mate!
Hey Chris... your hair is awesome! Looking real neat with the glasses. I tried contacts 1-2 years ago. IMHO, I think I look better without the glasses, but the contacts just didn't work out for me. Have a good one!
--Rick
Hey Rick thanks for the compliments buddy! The glasses are OK but contacts were better, I hope I can find some that work for me. I have bad astigmatism and any slight rotation in the way they fit and I can't see clearly any more!
Take care my friend :)
Chris, Great look. You wouldn't want to see the real me at work with my hair tied back tucked under my shirt and under a hat. Frankly you probably wouldn't recognize me. I have worn glasses since I was 15 so I'm used to them I guess. I think I look better with them but I do try to pick frames that look the least like I'm wearing glasses. I wouldn't call it lying. I bet we all have different looks at different times. Same ole Chris, cool!
peace, jonalbear
Hey thank you kindly John I appreciate the comments greatly. I know what you mean about picking subtle looking frames, these have been mine since 1992 and have survived many misadventures lol. I never posted a pic of how I really look everyday and it felt sort of phony to give such a false impression, those updates are my fantasy of long hair lol. I couldn't have my hair loose like that for one minute before I bent down to look at something and then instant Cousin It ! Well I can dream can't I lol
The "real" you looks cool! I wear glasses too and have never worn contacts. I find it impossible to stick a lens in my eye. I guess my eyes are ultra sensitive. The hair is looking cool as well. The tucked behind the ears thing looks great and seems very convenient. Nice mini update. Anyway, Are you sure thats the real you!? I'm still not convinced! I was expecting someone much less ancient and alot wackier!!!haha... See ya around the chat dude.
Hey thanks for the compliments Chris, I appreciate them. The very idea of having contacts really freaked me out as I was someone who couldn't stand the thought of anything near my eye. It was some kind of protective thing cause when I first tried to put in a contact lens I couldn't bring my finger close to my eye without my eye closing to protect itself. I figured I couldn't wear the contacts. But somehow I realized that my closing my eye was in response to seeing this big finger come right at it! I tried something that worked for me so easily and might work for you. When putting in my left eye lens I would focus my eyes as far to the right as I possibly could, to the point where you can see your nose. Then I would be able to touch my eye surface with my finger and not blink at all. It was amazing, since I couldn't see the finger my eye didn't panic and I could touch the surface with finger or lens with no problem. Try this if you can it made ALL the difference to me I wish somebody had told me about it. Maybe other people don't need this crutch or it was assumed I would figure it out on my own. Give it a try at an optometrist office they usually have some to spare to see if you really can do the contacts.
As for the real me well I guess I am still discovering who that is along with the rest of you! Ancient and wacky, not so bad things, take care man!
Thanks for the great advice, Chris. I might just give it a try.
Chris G,
Methinks you do not know how handsome you are.
Cal.
I suppose everybody is harder on themselves than other people are but there are lots of other guys on this board I would gladly trade bodies with lol! Thanks for the kind words Cal I do appreciate them and hearing things like them often enough I begin to believe them (as befits standard psychological ideas?) Here's to propaganda! :)
Take care Cal and keep being different for those of us who don't, says the conformist lol
Hi Chris...
You look great to me.. Hair and everything else. I'm glad you're a part of our board here ... looking forward to chating more with you in the future..
Be Blessed...
Tristan
Thanks for the compliments Tristan I do appreciate them, you're a very warm and generous person. I always enjoy chatting with you too and I hope all goes well with the new job you have.
Take care dude!
Glasses or no glasses......tucked back hair or not, that is still super long hair Chris and it looks great no matter how you wear it! :-)
I am sorry that you are still fighting an illness but have my fingers crossed (eyes as well) that it will be a thing of the past very soon.
Again, superb looking long hair. I don't think you can miss however you choose to wear it.
Take care-
Justin~
Hi Justin thanks for the kind words :) I always love to hear from you. I just thought it was time to show my true face lol. Much as I love the image I usually show here, it is a fantasy only lol. I can't wear my hair loose like I usually show and it never falls that way normally, alas!
Man Justin I am up super late cause I couldn't sleep, its after 4 in the morning here lol. Gotta go take care my friend and thanks for the well wishes on my health, I am still working on it yet :)
Your hair is just lovely Chris. It is getting really long now. Hopefully you can overcome this health problem and fully recover.
Scott
Thanks for the kind words Scott, they mean a lot coming from you :) I am still working on the health thing, I started taking LOTS more Nystatin and really reducing my carb intake. It seems to be helping so far but who knows.
Hmmm, glasses or no, I still think you'd look good as a musketeer. :-)
Catch you in chat sometime!
Mouse
LOL you and Axel say the same thing about the musketeer thing! Thanks for the compliments Mouse :) See you later
Interesting, ChrisG, as I, too, am a wearer of corrective lenses.
Your hair length is just what so many of us here wish to achieve.
In udder whirreds, YA LOOK GREAT! Blue suits you well (hey, I'm
an artist, remember?), as would chocolate browns, burgundy, and
mahogany, as well as other rich Earth tones.
Thanks for posting, ChrisG, and I wish you all the best, too, in
a full and speedy recovery (ya saw my other post elsewhere, right?
The Estampie, Qntal, and Froud one), and Mouse is right; you'd cut
quite a dashing figure as a musketeer. That as well as a dragoone.
Yours in wellness AND longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan
Hey Quenyan thanks for the kind words on my pic. I like all sorts of colors but usually bright ones like blue and purple and green (my favorites). Unfortunately I don't care as much for earth tones and browns as I find they make me look drab. Color for me lol, although I am biased that way.
Thanks for the well wishes too Quenyan I do appreciate the kind thoughts :)
Take care
Amazing length and straightness....(im jealous)
Thanks man I appreciate it, no reason to be jealous as your hair looks better than mine (healthier) I hope I can fix it sometime I would hate to start over!
So this is who you are really talking to guys and gals!
Thank goodness! That other photo scared my kids to death and the dog wouldn't come out from under the bed until the next morning!
Hey guy, I wish you the best; you are in my thoughts and prayers! Your length is great; I had no idea!
George
George this was supposed to be the picture that upsets men and frightens horses lol, you got them backward :)
Thanks for the kind thoughts and words George, you are really Big Hearted George but thats too much to type all the time!
Take care my friend!
Hey Chris, I like that look. It doesnt seem as "posed" for. Great hari. I am a long way behind you, but working on it.
Well I was less careful but the only real change from what I used to post was that I usually have no glasses and hair over the ears. But thats not a look that seems to work anywhere but in the movies lol. So this is what I really look like :)
Take care man and I am glad you're here and its great chatting with you
I like the real you, Chris, --- you look just fine!!!!!!!
Years ago I was repeatedly offered the option to consider contact lenses. Being lazy is part of who I really am (speaking of being "honest" - lol), --- so as vain as I am sometimes, my laziness won out.... and I never invested in contacts.
I used to go to dance events and not wear ANY glasses (so I could look "cooler", in my opinion). I could recognize most people I knew from across the width of the Ballroom or bar dance floor; but had no clue who was waving at me if it was across the *length* of the room (or, even if the person was actually waving at ME - lol).... I finally let go of my pride and decided it was better to have good social etiquette and know who I was waving at, than to look "cool" but be clueless as to whether I was being rude to a fellow dancer (or, conversely, looking like an idiot waving at somebody who was NOT waing at me - lol)!!
- Ken
Hey Ken thanks for the reply. Contact lenses aren't much work at all really. I had the kind where you put them in in the morning and take them out at night and put them in a case with some solution. Thats it, no fuss. You may yet want to reconsider the idea.
You are indeed a true gentleman Ken to prefer good social etiquette to looking cool, many might scoff at the idea lol
Take care Ken,
PS I suppose if you haven't had your truck returned yet what are you supposed to do? File a claim or something? anyway I hope this hasn't hurt your work situation as I imagine a gardner needs his truck.
AHA ! I had to read down the thread to see what you meant by "real me". Well, all of us (thanks to digital photography) likely take thousands of photos before "the one" comes out right looking the way we think it should.....there is nothing "fake" about posing. My avatar is the last time my hair looked decent, and that was after a funeral! HA!
I recently attended the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, Washington....Lots of longhairs (mostly 30+) who were more interested in the boats, displays, events and music than the wind and salt air, than preening. I personally like seeing long hair in its more natural state and in mnotion. (Hence my fascination with Aragorn of Lord of the Rings (and therefore NuttiDave also, HA).
Glasses are often the only jewelry that a man wears....I have always liked glasses and think they enhance appearance....and of course, I can't see a thing without mine...
So what all this blather means, Chris, is: You look sharp !!
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Hey Walter I guess the point of this post, other than that I just felt like putting up a picture of myself (how vain is that? lol) was that I wanted to do a different look than I usually did and I usually never posed as I really look.
I love the look of long hair in motion to, it is quite artistic and dramatic. The wind as Ken says is a great stylist!
Thanks for the compliments Walter (and the valuable humor :) )
You look Great Chris; i hope you get to feeling as good as you look.
Thanks for the encouragement and the kind words Rob, I appreciate them. Best of things to you too :)
And I must say, they one we are talking to in the chat room has nice hair!!!!!!......even for a weird guy LOL.
keebler cookies

clayton
Why thank you Clayton I take my hair inspiration and wacky inspiration from my fellow MLHH members who seem to excel on both fronts! :)
Hope all is well with your studies, take care my friend
Ya know what they say... There's nothing like the real thing!
Take care Chris,
Bruce
Thanks Bruce, I figured it was time for a different style of update than the usual ones. Take care man :)
