Ive been checkin out this board very regularly since Dec 2006, Just recently i got a couple pictures taken of myself for the first time in a year! So here's a picture.
My last haircut was a buzz cut in Nov. 2004, so this is my 35 month update (1 month short of 3 years) although it is my first update on here..
My goal is terminal. I probly have decent hair genes (my mother had her hair to her waist and I dont know if that was terminal or not due to a haircuts, now it's short)
I havent got a trim yet to get rid of split ends and to keep it in good condition, although I'm in no rush to do so, and i dont know anyone that can be trusted.. After 3 years of growth should a SMALL trim be recomended??? or is it too early?lol
Any thougts/opinions on this whole thing would be cool..
Hey welcome Draugr! (cool name man wherever its from!)
Man the picture looks great you have some awesome curls there. You definitely have terrific hair genes. I wouldn't get a trim unless you are discovering many many split ends that are too numerous to remove one at a time. If it ain't broke don't fix it lol. Very cool man and a premature congratulations on 3 years of excellent growth, well done!
Welcome to this board and thanks for posting a photo of remarkable and great long hair. Great inspiration for all of us.
About the trim: If I were you I would avoid it "UNLESS" your hair was giving you terrible troubles with snags and knots. I was recently told that some people seem to be immune from getting split-ends. Perhaps you are one of those lucky people! :-)
Hi Draugr,
You are blessed! Those thick and shiny curls look awesome, and are a genuine testimony to how long curly hair can look at its very best. As for trims, I don't see any need for them in your situation, as I see no problems to speak of. Keep that fantastic mane growing!
All the best,
David
Thats good to here, ill try to race you to waist length, lol.....
Welcome Draugr, your hair looks really great. Unless you are having severe tangles you should not trim it at all.
Scott
Hi Draugr
Nice mane, and as it's curly it must have seemed to grow very slowly. 35 months and it looks great you do have good hair genes and as for trimming, well from what I can see your ends don't look all that bad. If I were shopping around for a stylist I would call some places and ask if they have any stylists who have very long hair. I figure they would be on the same plain as you and able to relate when you say just a tiny bit off the ends. I was lucky I met a stylist through a friend and he had very long hair and was very good.
Kevin
Wow! You've got a great head of hair, man! Keep it growing for sure. As for trims, I would if you're having tangles, split ends, and things like that. But it doesn't really look like that.
Also, I love the Opeth shirt! Opeth's my favorite band and I love Blackwater Park! :D
Right on, Opeth has been my fav metal band for a while, nice to see other Opeth fans, I dont see many others around my area
Welcome Draugr, You've got a great head of hair there. As for trims, I concur with the others, If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Bruce
Wow! Welcome dude! Your curls looks impressive. I don't find a trim necessary at this point. Your hair looks quite healthy. That is one superb mane you've got there man. Just keep it growing and avoid the scissors for now.
a) Do you actually _have_ split ends? If so, S&D method (searching and destroying by cutting off ONLY the damaged ends) may be all you need, and something you can do yourself. b) Do you have and roughness or tangling on the ends of your hair? If yes, a light trim, or 'dusting' may be all you need. This only takes off the very ends of your hair, and is well under an inch removed.
Carol
To answer the questions..
A) a few B) gets tangled (not overly though) because of my hair type, its real thick.. I know its not a big deal but ill probly end up gettin a small one down the road (a year maybe) then ill be good for another 3years or so..atleast...
Hi, Glad you finally decided to post. You have very cool hair.
I'd not get a trim unless you want your hair shorter, or if you are having excessive tangling problems - which suggests damaged/split ends.
Heeeeey Draugr, nice Opeth shirt, BTW! Your growing efforts are truly stellar! Yeesh. Do NOT stop now, bruh! Your achievement is one for the books! For the record, I, too, completely shaved my head twenty years ago. Never, ever again! Remember to utilise a boar's bristles brush, always brushing fr. the ends to the roots with every subsequent brush, and a cherry bark hair conditioner or Mane 'n Tail conditioner, originally made for our equine cousins, but later remarketted for us bipeds. These are great conditioners. Keep it goin' and growin', Draugr! You're truly lookin' great!
Yours in excellent hair maintenance and longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan
Great Long hair and it is inspiring to see good-looking, long curls as we are in the minority around here. If you could, would you show some past pictures showing the progress from short to long in increments? I'd like to see if my hair compares with yours throughout the past stages of your growth (in hopes that my future hair may look like yours.)
Thanks,
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
