I'm from The Netherlands, I'm 19 years old, I have 4 years long hair, I always wear it in a ponytail, (it is 8 inches long) but I was thinking of making a braid instead of a regular ponytail, would that look good? because I don't want to look like a girl, it seems to me that it will look nice.
So my question, should I make a braid or just wear the regular ponytail? Is it allright for a man to wear a braid? Or is it just something feminine?
Gabber, last year before I cut off 12 inches (big mistake) I used to wear mine in a pony too (and now can do it again -just), but also I would plat it and also get it french braided (this is too hard to do for most men by them selves). I have to admit that getting a french braid is the best feeling and i think that it looks fantastic. I never got any negative comments, although you are right - some may think that it looks a bit feminine. It is up to you about whether doing what you want to do is more important than any ossible comment.
Cheers
Thx for your quick post Growinitout, you are right, everybody has to wear his haircut how you want to wear it yourself.
The braiding ("Vlechten" in Dutch Language) is not the problem for me, it works very well. It works best with 2 ponytail holders, one at the back of the head, and one at the end of the braid, or else the braid will not look so nice and thightened. So now I will start to wear the french braid ("Vlecht") more often, and it will look fine I think ! :)
When I had waist length hair I braided it often. I liked the way
it looked, although it helps if you have someone who can help you
make the braid.
i must concer with everyone else here. i like the look of a braid. just this weekend, i was in nashville, and i saw a guy with an undercut, and the hair that remained was braided. i thought it looked great! plus, the whole french braid thing looks good too. i've seen some guys that carried it off really well.
so go for it!
