I read that if you dont take care of your hair.. you would never get it very long is this true?
And also how do you take care of your hair?
like combing it.. everyday, washing everyday or something?
Im sorry for these questions =(
im kind of new to this
Yes, it's true. If you do not "take care" of your hair, it will not be healthy. In that case, it will break and shed etc, so it wont get very long.
However, "taking care" of your hair is different for everyone. Depending on the length of your hair, and what you put in it, you need to adjust your routine accordingly. For example, with shorthair that is styled with gels or sprays daily, you need to wash and condition daily. If you don't do that, you can get by with every few days. However, regardles of length, you need to wash at least onece a week just to stay clean. You should also use conditioner to rplace the natural oils that shampoo cane remove. As for brushing, use a wide toothed comb when your hair is wet, and a boars hair brush (easy to find almost anywhere)when your hair is dry. Stay away from scissors, and keep motivated. Your hair will grow out in no time. This is an excellent place for all your advice and motivational needs. Everyon here is great! Once again, welcome to our home, and good luck with your hair!
Well first of all, washing your hair every day is possibly actually harmful to it. It certainly is in my case. I wash my hair every 3 days, just in time before the "greasy" look settles in on the fourth. How often you wash your hair will depend on your hair type, and also how lazy you may or may not be :P
Secondly, I wouldn't brush or comb your hair more than maybe a couple of times a day, as brushing and combing generally pulls hair out. When brushing, make sure to start at the ends, and then go slowly up, which helps detangle. Although since I don't know what length your hair currently is, that advice may be moot.
Thirdly, when washing your hair, it's a good idea to use a conditioner. What sort of conditioner you use will also depend on the type of hair you have, and most likely will take you a couple of tries before you find one that suits you.
Fourthly (is that even a word?), when tying your hair in a tail, bun, or something similar, try not to pull too hard on the hair, as that causes it to come out. There's a fancy scientific name for this that I can't remember right now :P
I suppose taking care of one's hair encompasses not just the routine washing of hair and the rest of the aforementiomed, but also common sense, such as not getting too close to a fire when your hair is loose, not letting animals chew on it, little children pull on it, or letting the hair fairy get any close (she doesn't pay as well as the tooth fairy anyway). Things like these genuinely reduce the life expectancy of your hair. Again, most of this advice will only apply if you already have some length on your hair. If you've just done a buzzcut then you can disregard this.
Remember one thing though, the hair currently on your head, will be the tips of your hair in a years time, so make sure you treat your hair well now, so that it will retain it's beauty for later.
Hope this helps,

P.S. Since I haven't seen you here before, or at least dont remember to have seen you, welcome to the board :)
Yes, it's a word. lol. And it's called Traction Allopecia. Great advice though!
Well, it's indeed a regular and daily activity, the caring for long hair. It doesn't mean you have to shampoo or wash everyday (please DON'T do that... that is damaging to hair). You should only wash 1 to 2 times a week, 3 at most... Anyways, the daily care regards to the way you handle your hair, the way you comb it, detangle it, the way you help spreading the natural oils down, the way you protect it from environmental agressions and so on...
There is a lot of informative sites on the links page of the board... if you are new to this, I suggest that you start eating those links for breakfast ^^ Good luck, and not a stupid question at all =)
It will get long; it just won't look as good. when people let their hair grow out but they treat it badly (women using processes like colors and curling irons and stuff; guys blow drying it and scraping their scalps with their finger nails) it shows--it'll be frizzy and scraggly. Some people's hair is like that to some extent naturally (me for one) but this is worse.
