whats goin on guys.
im trying to grow it out. my bangs touch my nose if i pull them down, and the sides and back are around 3 inches long. my hair is horrible :) it seems like it has a mind of its own. its the thickest hair ive ever seen, when i used to get my haircut with clippers my hair would clog them up. anyways you get the idea.
i find that when i wash my hair, my hair is more problematic. its frizzy, can barely comb it...i put alot of gel in, but it dosent seem to help. when i dont wash my hair for a day or 2 i find that its easier to take care of, my hair actually moves, its soft, and just looks better.
what can i do to get that kind of consitancy daily? are there oils i can buy?
and given the length and thickeness of my hair, what kind of style should i go for?
thanks for your help guys.
take care

Hi Ryche. Do you use conditioner on your hair after you shampoo it? That should make it softer and easy to comb without tangles. You probably have to use gel to control your hair for now, but eventually you should be able to stop using it, and that should help too.
All kinds of styles are possible, depending on what you like. Personally, I like all-one-length Kurt Cobain style (called a bob) if you're not going to just let it get really long. Lots of guys would kill to have thick hair like that.
Good luck,
Doug
Doug,
thanks for the tips, but i use conditioner...ive used alot..even those really intense VO5 deals, and its all good while its wet..but when it dries, its for the lack of a better word "poofy" :) and my hair is real thick and wirey...any more advice bro?

You could try a leave-in conditioner (which you don't wash out). Another thing to try is straightening balm, which puts a kind of coating on your hair that can keep it from getting so frizzy.

sounds familiar. For now wear a cap (if possible) until you can make a pony tail. I didn't want to put grease in my hair so I just stuck it out thru the awkward phase. You can undercut if you like. It's much smoother sailing once you are able to tie it back.
then stop washing your hair everyday. it's not common for me to go w/o shampooing for almost a week (wash with just water everyday if you like). My hair is much more manageable this way. It looks just like you described after I shampoo it but a leave-in conditioner does magic. It will keep it in place until the effects of the shampooing go away.
IF you've never grown out your hair before then it takes a long time to come up with the best method to make it work. You could look into straightening irons and what not but you're hair may not be long enough yet.
One thing to note, as your hair grows longer, it's likely to thin out a lot, but if you're anything like me then you have plenty to spare :-)
Just don't panic.
