hello. whos a musician. i bet lots of you are
I had hair down to my waist for many years but I'm not a
musician. Computers.
I wish I had a nickel for every time someone thought I was a musician, particularly a rock musician! I don't even really *like* rock. I *am* a dancer, however.

kewl. k so musician or internet guy then.
im a teenaged long haired guitarist and i suck. my middle name is cliche
While I love music (longhaired music=classical to me), I, too am a computer guy. SysAdmin, Coder.
Scott (of the long hair)
I'm a PE (electrical) and the only musical instruments I can play are the turntable, the tape deck, the CD player, and the radio. I get pretty good sounds out of them all though. :-) I like late sixties and seventies rock, and later tunes that sound like that. Good longhair music in the hippie sense of the word.
Well, by now you've probably seen that several longhairs on this board go against (stereo)type.
While my moniker is "mistermusic," that is my hobby. I arrange for small bands/combos everything from "show choir" to "worship" music).
My profession that pays the bills is "Master Trainer" (Human Resources Training and Development) for a fortune 100 company.
Having long hair was a long-time goal that I started out on a year ago. It is now just past my shoulders, and coming out of the dreaded awkward stage.
It's nice to know from the other responses, that you can have long hair and a professional life as well.
It was a great question - with lots of great responses.
Keep growin'!
Can't carry a tune in a bucket. I'm a dot com nut - and the co. I'm with isn't going bankrupt.
Not me. Can't play worth a dime. Instead, I'm going into Network Admin. I'm also a Volvo car nut (have seven total)...
-J (Conservative Republican longhair from Duvall, WA)
i am 16 years old and play guitar in a death/thrash metal band (i guess I'm the one here who gives longhaired people a bad name, lol)
I'm 17 and I dont play guitar (doesnt mean I wouldnt like to, I just dont have the money right now to buy one). This one girl was like "Arent you in a band" a few weeks ago and I was kinda taken a back by it. I guess some people do equate long hair with being a musician. I sing well, but I dont consider myself a musician. Being a musician requires more than reading music and vibrating your vocal chords (lol)
Taso
I play drums in a power/thrash metal band!!!!!!!
I play guitar!
I used to play the drums, but that was a long time ago. Nowadays I play with computers.
Hello, do we have a consensus here? It seems that as long as a longhair here is of working age, he is either in the IT or ENGINEERING field! Hmm... that seems to be against common stereotype.
BTW, I'm also an engineer (civil), still too young and inexperienced to be a PE though.
Anyway, whatever profession you're in, just keep growing :)
I have long hair.
I am a commercial (18 wheeler) truck driver.
no musician here. i work a crummy 7-4:30 job operating machinery in a factory.
Good for you! It's nice to see industrial long hair!
i am honored to occupy that socio-economic strata.
I'm such a cliche! I'm a vocalist and I play guitar. Then again I'm 17 and have only had long hair for about a year.
I'm a musician, but I don't make any money at it so far. Money's from computer gigs, where waist-length hair is OK.
One more long-haired musician here. I am a saxophonist.
i play guitar, i play blues, lots of poeple are suprised by it, cause when i say i play guitar and ask what kind of music and i say 'blues' they say, 'oh i would have thought you played metal, cause of your long hair', i think that is strange, cause most white bluesguitarists have or had long hair too!
