I image that if Hitler were alive today and running a hyperboard he might delete messages that didn't suit his sensibilities...with no explanation.
This is my last message. Take me off the list.
Banana
Hi Banana,
The moderators recieved too many complaints about the head-shaving video, so the thread was remeoved. I don't know if you saw my reply to that thread earlier today before being removed; but, in it I stated that I was unable to see the video (my computer apparently does not have whatever-it-is for updated technology in order to watch it). Since I couldn't see it, my only comment to you at the time was that I felt your motive was good and your wording understandable; but that the thread migh t be removed if it offended others too much.
Again, please accept our apologies for not writing you to explain why the thread was removed. I don't think that we are anywhere near the likes of Hitler, though, --- we haven't killed any short-hairs recently (that I know of, at least - lol).... We just don't want to have disturbing videos linked on this board of a guy's beautiful long hair being shaved off to ugly bald stubble, that's all.
My best to you, regardless, --- although I hope you'll reconsider leaving us. Take care.
- Ken (for the Moderating Crew)
The Crew tries to put the most pressing of rules in the FAQ documents so everyone knows the score. Some rules are left out because they are common sense rules that apply anywhere socialized people gather. Others are left out because they come up too infrequently, or because they have just recently become frequent enough to be a problem and haven't been put in yet. The aim is to keep the FAQ to a reasonable length, so it will be of maximum use to the broadest segment of the user population - those with average comprehension of social rules and conventions. If the document is too long, more rules will be given out, but less people will read it. A balance has to be struck.
The Crew has recently discussed whether hair cutting videos and photos are appropriate to be included or linked. The recent post revived this discussion, and the consensus being reached appears to be that these do not belong on the MLHH. The purpose of the site is to support the GROWING of hair, and everyone here knows what a haircut is, so such posts have no educational value. Meanwhile they attract haircut fetishists to the site and make substantial numbers of users want to puke. Cutting off a man's mane and then shaking the severed hair like a settler's scalp or a roadkill squirrel serves no redeeming purpose. Yes, this stuff goes on, but a lot of weird stuff goes on, and it gets on the Internet. Just because it does, it does not need to get on here, any more than what goes on down on the streets in Skid Row needs to go on in your living room.
Because the number of hair cutting photos and videos has recently increased in posts here, I suspect a policy against such will soon land in the FAQ. You were not being singled out, Banana, you just found yourself cresting a growing wave as it was about to break. If the Crew felt you were flouting a rule, you would now likely find your posts being scrutinized by them, and that is not the case. You also weren't written because the policy is still being hashed out. With a group we get a consensus that most closely represents user sentiment rather than that of one or a few people. However, having a group does take time - time for all of them who wish to do so, to weigh in.
Think it over man, and if you still want to be removed from the directory, write Oren. He does that work. But there is no sentiment against you at all among the Crew or anyone else here so far as I know, so I'd definitely reconsider!
Bill
Other than to agree that such videos and photographs have NO place whatever there is little t add to Bill's excellent summary.
We certainly do not want to attract hair fetishists and those that must view such pictures should go to any of the numerous short hair sites!
Let's stick to growing guys.
I imagine that this site does attract hair fetishists. It's hairCUT fetishists we want to be wary of :-)
I did not happen to see that thread you were talking about, but i don't think you should leave here Banana, as you you've been kind and supportive to most of the guys here, including me in my latest update:)
So if i were you i would surely reconsider.
You're a valued member of this group Banana! I wouldn't take the removal of that post too personally as it wasn't a video you made or that featured you. It was just something you found on the internet. You just have a difference of opinion on whether the subject matter should be displayed here. We all have different opinions on various things. That's no reason to feel you need to leave.
Hoping you stick around,
Bruce
Let me just add that I also want you to reconsider and hopefully stay, for the same reasons mentioned below.
I am upset that you feel the way you do. It was not an attack on you.....heck, I am a loving guy, not Hitler. The rules state that this board is to promote long hair, not give a venue to display hair chopping.
My deepest appologies
clayton
I am surprised that anyone was offended. It was obvious to me that you intended the video to have a positive effect, in that viewers would see the video and feel even less compelled to cut their hair, provided they were even thinking about such a thing in the first place. People on this site frequently express political views that I strongly disagree with, considering I am rather conservative, but I would never delete their posts regarding their political views, furthermore, most of political views mentioned on this site seldom have anything to do with hair. I think that people nowadays are just too sensitive. For what it's worth the video made me want to keep my hair even more than I did before I watched it.
jeffrey.
Banana, please reconsider.
