Hi there
I have been a lurker for some time, however i have never posted before (i am a bit lazy when it comes to posting).
I am a Half-Longhair (1 and a half years of growth) and I have started to go to a gym for about 3 months, but i have not been satisfied with the results so far. Part of the problem may be that i am in college now, and my diet has not been the best, so when it comes to training in the gym (always with body building as an objective) i always feel that i could have done more. So here i was thinking that i could get that extra help from a few suplements. But i also have my doubts about all of this. I do not intend to take any steroids, but will any of these suplements (and here it is my MAIN QUESTION)cause male pattern hair loss due to testosterone increase?
I was considering getting some creatine and also some amino-acids suplements. Do you guys know anything about this?
Thanks in advance
i won't say i know much about creatine, because i don't, but amino acids are very good for the body in general. aminos are actually very good for skin and hair health. you certainly won't be losing any hair by upping your intake of those.
peace,
nic
Some Doctors feel that creatine might accelerate hairloss since it may cause an increase in testosterone. I think the vote is still out on creatine. I should mention that testosterone is not the primary hormone that triggers hairloss. DHT is the primary culprit, nevertheless, if you have high levels of testosterone then you may have high levels of DHT, since testosterone is metabolized into DHT by the 5-AR enzymes; type 1 and 2. Even so, unless you have the genetics for hairloss you will not loose hair. If you do have the genetics for hairloss then elevated levels of androgens will certainly result in hairloss to some degree and that degree may be significant, but, on the bright side of things, you will have big muscles:)

I'm going to give you some advice based on my experience but keep in mind it's my subjective opinion. Assuming you aren't body building for health (entirely at least), you will probably get the best results and achieve a look you can maintain for the long term by getting into a balanced program that involves diet, aerobic exercise and weight lifting. I'd avoid any supplements that might pose risks--just get into a high fiber, high protein, low fat diet--lots of veggies, cerials, fruits, no-fat dairy with some protein supplement mixes, do some running along with the weight lifting. You should get a natural, healthy look for your frame size with some definition sure, but not like some steroidal monster. I don't know if you plan to bulk up or not but I think guys who do, have a hard time maintaining that for years on end. Start reading product ingredients--dump the junk food, red meat, beer and cigarettes, stay out of the sun, and by the time you're my age, you'll look 20 years younger and be glad you did all this.
thanks but let me clarify 2 things:
"dump the junk food, red meat, beer and cigarettes, stay out of the sun,"
I'm afraid this implies an assumption that E.T. is eating/consuming all these things and I apologize for that--It should have been preceded by a big IF.
Another thing I want to point out is that fat is okay, provided it is unsaturated fat, like olive oil (a common example).
Well Evil Toast ....
One thing to remember with bodybuilding is you need to eat every 3 hours; (healthy foods). This keeps your body from having glucose spikes and tons of insulin dumped into your blood stream.. Those aren't good for a bodybuilder.
Another thing to keep in mind is that creatine and protein in excess can cause kidney damages as all that is filtered through the nephrons.. If you have a baseline blood chemistry; check to see what the BUN and Creatinin are respectively.. once you start taking these supplements; its a good idea to see if they become out of normal range. I'm not a bodybuilder (for bulk anyway); but a medical guy; so if you want more specifics on training and proper supplementation; a great website to get good advice from is www.bodybuilding.com
Oh; one final tip... Get plenty of rest. Your body manufactors more growth hormone when you sleep then at any other part of the day.. Thats why alot of bodybuilders take naps..
Happy Lifting and welcome to mlhh...
Tristan
ps.. You won't elevate your testosterone level by taking these supplements... your body excretes what it doesn't use.... thus you're back to the kidney issue.. Be safe..
Mate, mr.o Jay cutler has probably taken all the drugs you can think of and he hasnt gone bald, its down to genetics.
