Me after 4 months. I stopped dyeing the beard
Cheers,
Don
Wow, what a difference already! You've got good thick hair and will look fantastic with long hair. Welcome and grow on!
Bruce
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!!!!!
You alrady have a great start to a great mane. As for dying your beard, I am like most of the users here who believe that natural is better. And your color is great!!
Peace and welcome
clayton
Don,
I am one of those wierd one, in fact an old man, with a white beard, but remarkably little gray in my hair. I envy premature gray hair. I think it is dramatic. I am just glad I have hair left. Finally I have enough gray in my hair so that I am no longer accused of dying it.
New Pictures soon.
Cal
Cal,
I have the same issue, my hair is much darker than my beard, especially if it is kept moisturized. It's much lighter if I let it dry out. I also have had people ask why I dye my hair and not my beard! The other question I used to get, while I was buzzed or shaved, is 'are you a cop?' Longer hair should avoid that confusion! LOL Your hair looks great.
I'm looking forward to joining the ranks of the 'mature' longhairs.
Take care,
Don
Cool, Don, to see another guy over 60 here, and yes, at our age, we can still grow hair! If you don't trim it, it will grow!
Bill
Hi Bill,
A great picture of you. At 62 I'm blessed to have my thick head of hair. Growing it will show gratitude. Your beard and hair are fantastic. Unfortunately, my cheeks are rather sparsely populated with whiskers but the goatee and 'stache are holding their own. May be a handlebar growing too, we'll see.
BTW: I love the flowers in the background, Pride of Madeira (Echium)I believe. Such a manly flower! LOL.
Cheers,
Don
Yes, you do have thick hair, and a thick beard. It will look great! We all have our own unique growth patterns, waviness, colors, coarseness, and denseness to our scalp and facial hair, and the only way to let all of it flower is to just let it grow!
Indeed that is their name. Ken (Urban Cowboy) is a gardener and he told me that. They grow profusely on the hill where I live, and they flower like that every April. The photo above is another stand of them taken on the same day.
Bill
Thanks Bill, another great picture.
Don
Thanks guys for the welcome. You'll be my role models and hopefully mentors as my hair grows. I know I'll need encouragement through the frizzy big hair stage.
I measured the length today. 2.75" on top and 2.5 on the sides/back, seems to be growing a bit faster than the 0.5 inch per month I expected. I'll post a progress picture at my 5 months point, November 1. It's early in the process but I'm pretty excited that I've finally decided to go for it, I can feel the wind blow through my hair for the first time in decades!
Cheers,
Don
Hi Don,
I am delighted that you have discovered the hyperboard, and I would like to extend my warmest greetings to you. You have a great, thick, head of hair to grow long, and I am very happy that you plan to do so. Your beard is looking superb as well. As a matter of fact, I grew my first ever beard in my life beginning last January, and was encouraged by Bill, who has alraedy replied to your post. I will be sure to support you in your future hair growing goals.
Keep it growing,
David
David,
Thanks so much for your offer of support and encouragement. I'm especially grateful that you were so thoughtful at this time.
Don
welcome Don its good you decided to grow your hair out, its thick and healthy man youll def look awesome with it long, welcome greetings from Mark :)
Looks good Don, I'm in the same process and probably at the same point as you. I like the beard been kicking that one around to but maybe something like a beard curtain with the soul patch. Won't do the stach because I use to wear one years ago and it's like totally white. By the way I'm 48 and enjoy the board.
Keep in touch & keep growing,
Woodman
Woodman, Good to meet you, we are on the same path. I will stay in touch. At least give the beard a try. Mine is a permanent fixture. I've had the goatee for about 20 years and started growing the 'stache on my 21st birthday, 41 years ago...gasp!
Cheers,
Don
You're 62? For a 62 year old you look at least 2 decades younger! Are you serious?
Yep! My birthday is 5/11/45. Thanks for the compliment. I'm kinda a late bloomer and almost boomer. The long hair is one outward symbol of transformation. I'm hoping to have the time to play at fun things like travel, gardening, exercise, continuous learning, maybe a tattoo and certainly long hair.
Don
Hello
I am nearly 2 months ahead of you in growing my hair, nice to see more and more people doing this.
I don't know why, but i have always had a liking for facial hair, probably because all the men in my fmaily have massive moustaches or beards, and you wear it very well...
Welcome to the board Don, it is fantastic that we attract all ages here. Looking forward to postings from you, take care!
Greetings Don, welcome to the club! This is a great group and you will have all the inspiration you need here. Good luck!
Cheers,
Max L.
Welcome Donald!! You are blessed with super lively hair and those curls will look fantastic when long, and the undyed beard looks very cool indeed.
Enjoy the journey - you have come to the right place for support!!
Regards Dave
Thanks Dave for the support. I've always been challenged by my curly hair but I'm here for the duration. Somewhere around the 9 month mark I may need encouragement. LOL
I feel very comfortable here. Thanks to all for your welcoming responses. I'm glad I can share my thoughts and growth progress with y'all.
Peace,
Don
Hey Don, welcome! There's several of us "Old Farts" hanging around here letting it grow. Nice to have one more!
Big George
LOL! Thanks Big George.
Hi again, Don,
Yes, another old fart here as well, although I am George's senior by 4 months or so, so he keeps calling me Pops. Anyway, welcome to the club!
David
David
Is that the old farts club? Thanks again. I'm glad to be here.
