Gentlemen! I stumbled upon this board and, I must say, it's nice to be in good company.
I'm just over a year into my odyssey of longhairdom and I must say I've finally reached the proverbial promised land. I have been a Metal fan for most of my life and always admired those heavy metalists for teir flowing tresses with which they shamelessly band their heads around. I've also been in bands for most of my life but each time I thought to grow my hair long, I wussed out. It wasn't until I got some much-needed inspiration from my 'friends' on Lost (my favorite tv show) and some encouragement from my new wife that I went for it. For months I was debating whether or not to cut it: I'm a teacher and I set Picture Day as my deadline. Picture Day has come and gone the locks are still here!
Being an intellectual, I usually research new things extensively but for some reason I just didn't when I started growing my hair; I just went for it. It wasn't until recently that I started to get curious for pro-tips relating to my hair. With few exceptions I've always had short hair, never longer than a few inches in the bangs so I'm inexperienced. Upon searching the interwebs I came upon this site and, though I may not be a regular, it's glad to know you lot are here as a resource.
Cheers to long hair!

PS - have the admins here ever thought of switching to sleeker, threaded PHP board?
Hi Kamal,
Thanks for the outstanding introduction, --- we love hearing stuff like that! Sounds like you're already well on the road to longhaired success; but, I find every story of growing-it-out struggle and making it past those infamous "awkward stages" to be very inspiring, as well as interesting in their individual differences. We all started out with short hair. And, in most cases, the desire to break free from feeling society's imposing on us to keep it that way has not always been a very easy road to walk down. Making it to the ponytail / shoulder-length stage is usually the biggest landmark that most of us consider as having, "arrived" as a true-blue longhair!
Re. this question of yours below...
We have an answer for that in our FAQ. Please check it out, --- as well as all the cool things to read in our Links page... And again, WELCOME!!!

Nice to meet you, Shipwreck. Hopefully you will never truly have a reason to bear that name of Shipwreck for wrecks of ships are truly sad things to see...unless you are a pirate in which case I can only say "Arrr..."
This is one of the best places to get tips on hair as people are usually pretty quick and friendly. Post your question and usually within one day or so the answers will really pile in.
As for changing the site, you are looking at the highly sleek version of the Hyperboard. We even have the word Hyper in the name and that screams out sleek. But seriously, this format has endured for years without the technical problems of many cutting-edge formats and is quite handy to use once you get used to it. All it requires is a little bit of elbow grease here and there. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...and if it works wonderfully, don't fix it either.
Welcome Kamal,
I just jumped on this board yesterday. I'm impressed with the responses from the supportive people. Your message is a great authentic introduction. I wish you well with your long haired odyssey. You are 7 months ahead of me.

Thanks, fellas. I could post a few shots from my hair's long journey to length. Here's a more current one, about two months old.
Welcome Shipwreck! It's wonderful that you have the support of your wife and it sounds like your work as a teacher won't be a problem... There's no stopping you now!!
