These pics were taken in northeastern Arkansas, about 15 minutes from the Missouri border, on the Spring River. The purpose of my trip, besides consuming large quantities of alcohol, was to look for aquatic (especially larval) insects. David, the photography is not as good as yours but the scenery is still beautiful nonetheless. We've had a bit of an "Indian Summer" so the foliage has just started to turn colors. Daytime, as you can see, is still warm enough for shorts and t-shirt. I can imagine Novia Scotia is quite a bit colder right now. I hope these pics brighten your day as much as yours brightened mine.
The obligatory hair pic:
This squirrel, by the campsite, made off with my tortilla chip:
A Great Blue Heron wading around, probably scoping out some lunch:
A nice pic of the river:
This is a muskrat playing around in the shallow weeds. He let me paddle in pretty close before he took off:
Finally, this is from atop a cliff in a network of caves close to the river (I didn't go in them):

That last pic of the cave should go like this:
Very nice pictures David and I must say, your hair is lookin' mighty long these days. Excellent! I've never been to Arkansas, it looks like a lovely place to visit. Someday.
Keep on growin'

Hi Allen,
Thank you for keeping your promise to post some nature photos, and outstanding ones they are! The scenery in your part of the world is breathtaking, and it is just wonderful that you have managed to capture some of the wildlife in your photos as well. Of course, your hair is coming along very well indeed.
The weather has cooled significantly in Nova Scotia, and the colours are in their full fall glory now. I am afraid I have not been wearing shorts these days, although it was certainly warm enough for that yesterday afternoon with the glorious sunshine that we are still experiencing in Nova Scotia.
Thank you for sharing these outstanding photos.
Take care,
David
Looks wonderful. I'd love to go there myself someday.
