Hello all,
Lately I have been having some concerns about the length of my hair.
My concern is, should I grow it to my waist?
Mike
OK Mike I'll start the voting off on your excellent ballot question. So to answer your question my vote is..................YES YES YES!!!!! Hope this helps.Mark
My concern is, should I grow it to my waist?
Yeah man!
Hi Mike,
By all means, definitely grow it to your waist! I know you have been concerned about thinning these days, but do not in any way let that stop you, and enjoy your long hair the best way you can.
Take care,
David
I reckon you should decide for yourself. Personally I don't think I would look good with waist length, so I'm going for mid-back. It all depends on your decision.
Just as you don't allow people to tell you to cut your hair, don't let people here dictate you what length to grow your hair too. Opinions are good of course, as long as the end decision is yours. My opinion? If you're only concern is thinning, and nothing else, then grow it to your waist by all means!
...The longer it gets are you:
A. Happier?
B. Do you enjoy the new, longer length?
C. Do you like the way the longer hair makes you feel?
D. Are you feeling more or less comfortable with each new inch of growth?
If you answer these questions and you find yourself leaning in
the YES column then continue growing.
But if you have more No's, then you better do some hard thinking on exactly what kind of Longhair you want to be.
Long hair means lots of different things to different people.
The length MUST make YOU happy. Life is too short to make
yourself any more miserable than you have to be.
Good Luck!
A. Happier? - YES
B. Do you enjoy the new, longer length? - YES
C. Do you like the way the longer hair makes you feel? - YES
D. Are you feeling more or less comfortable with each new inch of growth? - The Same.
I see my self getting more freaked out chopping back to shoulder length. I know I am at mid back, but I am sure it may even be longer. I also have the, "I wonder where my terminal length is?" thoughts. I do notice that my tail is tapering at the ends tho. So I may not hit waist length. If that is the case, I will probably chop back to a few inches past shoulder length. For now, I am just letting is grow. :-)
As for the thinning, I am not worried and letting nature take it's course.
I totally understand, as that is what I am doing as well...
I have a receding hairline. Back when I first started growing my hair long (starting in the early '90s), I almost let vanity and the "Fashion Police" dictate to me that only men w/ "perfect" hairlines and no thinning should ever grow out their hair out. Well, my hair has thinned even more (as well as my receding hairline has receded even further); but, I'm glad I didn't listen to either the Fashion Police nor my inner voice of vanity (not that I can't be vain, anyway - lol).... I totally LOVE having my hair long, --- and have eventually learned to just accept whatever degree of hair-thinning and MPB that my genentics and age give me.
I also got inspiration once from meeting a guy who was totally bald on top and in front; but, what hair he did have, was all the way down to his KNEES!!! Although he was a complete stranger to me at the time, I couldn't help but compliment him on what great-looking hair he had. He thanked me, and then chatted w/ me for a bit, --- had a very interesting philosophy about why he never intended on cutting it.
My point is this: it's what makes YOU happiest (as Luckskind has so beautifully said)! If you see yourself getting freaked out over "chopping it back to shoulder length", then there's no question in my mind about the fact that you should definitely NOT cut it!
My best to you in your continued hair growth to terminal!!
- Ken
Thanks Ken,
I wouldn't have even noticed that you were thinning until you told me about it. LOL I know there are meds out there that will help stop or even reverse hair loss, but I don't like the idea of messing with hormones and chemicals in my body. Plus I already have some chemical imbalances anyway. I figure, God wanted me to be bald, so I will just let nature take it's course. I am really not to concerned on this issue. It's not like I have to chop the sides and back after the front and top fall out. :-) I can still enjoy what hair I have.
I have a feeling I may hit terminal once before waist, but there is only one way to find out. :-) Maybe the sides and back will grow longer to compensate for loss of top and front hair. :-)
Hi there,
You hair looks great and don't fret why not grow it your waist if you can and enjoy the longhair experience.
Cheers,
John.B
Sure, why not?
