Well, mid-October marks 3 years since I last buzzed my head. It's not as big an update as my last ones, but...well, I suppose I've got no excuse! Just don't feel as enthusiastic with my hair progress as I used to! I've taken up water-only washing again.

Nearly waist length! I'll pass it in another year hopefully.
Are you ever blessed. Considering height and "only" 3 years you have grown a magnificent mane that tops the cake.
Bravo!
Thanks Justin, your support in all of my updates is always very appreciated!
Your hair grows super fast Gylfi. It has to be 1/3 of your height to reach your waist. That is 26 inches of hair. You will probably get it in about 3 1/2 years from what I see. Love the cinnamon brown colour, just lovely.
Scott
Oh man, and here I thought I was getting really close! 3 and a half more years..
But really, it's just the back hairs that are getting close to waist length - I'm really glad I never got my hair evened. It's a nice illusion!
WOW there looking GREAT!!! Keep up the great work and keep warm up north there too!!! Nice job and Take care!!
Thanks a lot for the reply! I'm keeping [relatively] warm up here, hope the same goes for you. I got your email and I'll reply to it a little later, but I haven't got a lot of time right now and I'd like to finish getting all of these replies done since I always inadvertently end up neglecting the task :(
Very admirable achievement, Gylfi! Your hair's lookin' great! It's even got more wave to it now the longer that it has got. Keep it goin' and growin', man! You'll be past waist length in no time.
Yours in longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan and
Thanks for the comment, Quenyan! I think the wave is from the method and not the time that's elapsed. Water-only works really well for me!
Thanks, Walter! Once your hair gets a bit longer it'll be a lot more impressive. Sometimes I wish I had hair as curly as yours, but other times I'm glad that I don't because they'd look a bit small on my head.
Great progress!
Long hair suits you very well. It's good to know you're going past waist length.
Thank you! I'm going for as long as I can. I hope my terminal is below classic length, but my hair grows in spurts and it's a bit hard to tell sometimes.
Awesome hair! Looks great. :)
Thanks Erik! Yours is coming along very nicely, too. I liked your music - even the power metal, which I don't always find so appealing.
Hi Gylfi,
As always, your updates are awesome. Your hair amazes me in how fast it grows (around 9 inches per year), and it is just SO thick and healthy! The water only washes must be causing your hair to become a lot curlier, as your hair is a lot curlier in these photos than in your avatar, where your hair looks quite straight.
Keep it growing,
David
You are right, that's exactly what the water-only washes are doing for me! Thank you very much for the comments, David. My hair's actually slowed a bit from 9 inches. A little over 8 now. I suppose that happens with the length, though. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to have consistent growth progress over the years!
Hope you're feeling well and everything has settled down a bit!
I didn't know your hair was curly / wavy. Looks nice!
Thanks for the comment! I don't always know it's wavy, either :)
I like the pictures of your new house a lot - I especially like brick houses. I'll probably comment on your post a little later, but tonight I'm only sticking around until I get my replies here finished!
Very nice update....that is a lot of growth for 3 years,
Curls and colour are fantastic.
Judging from the background, I am guessing you are a good cook also !!
Thanks for Sharing
WWT
If only the curls and colour were consistent!
A good cook? Well, I worked at McCormick for a couple of months, so I got a free spice rack! I'm not such a great cook, but I can make a great steak. On the grill OR..on the grill.
Wow, dude! That's some quality hair! As tall as you are and that much length. Great update and best of luck with waist length. Also, have fun back in Norway!
Bragi
Thanks, Bragi! Turns out I have to wait another 10 months (end of Fall semester) to do my time in Norway. What a bummer.
Gylfi, Simply gorgeous red hair! Wonderful waves!
peace, jonalbear
If only it were always so. I do like how the red only makes its appearances in certain light, though! Thanks for the comment, jonalbear.
WOw the color and those waves are fantastic Gylfi, the water washing is certainly working well. I can relate to the lack of enthusiasm as I have felt similar concerns as well, but it seems your hair is enthusiastic even without you cause it looks incredible. It is a pain to take care of long hair when one is less interested in it, I hope you do regain your enthusiasm. Is that because you don't feel that your hair is growing as fast as you would like it to or that you aren't as interested in the hair whether it grows or not. Either way I wish you the best, your pictures will doubtless make many here happy and inspired and insanely jealous at the same time :)
Take care!
Thanks for the compliments, Chris! When I said I wasn't enthusiastic, I meant it more in that wall that fallen_angels described so long ago. I like my hair, and I'm glad that it's growing, but I don't get very excited thinking about it, measuring it, or documenting it. I don't really notice it a lot anymore, because I've accepted it for what it is! Sometimes it becomes a bit of a chore since I'm not as interested in the process as I was before, but part of the reason I've accepted it and adapted it is because I wouldn't have it any other way.
Maybe it's the same feeling you've got, too, just a different response to it! Whatever it is, I hope things go well for you in more aspects than hair.
Your hair looks awesome gylfi! It looks similar to mine. I think your hair has a very cool unique color. It appears reddish brown and possibly orange-ish as well. Very nice hair color.
Thanks for the comment, Chris!! I've always thought we had a similar hairtype, too. My hair does have a unique color, but people only notice it does when we're in certain environments. Some days it looks a pretty generic and dark shade of brown, but bring the sun in and it stands out from everybody else's hair. Until the sun recedes.
looking fab as always, my AUH. if you ever want to trade hair, i'll be happy to oblige. damn all of you with the curls!
much love,
nic
Thanks for the comment, my AUW. I don't think you'd want to trade hair. I like the waves on myself, but you've got so much going with the straight hair already!! It reminds me a bit of another person I know with long straight hair, and I wouldn't have hers any other way, either.
Oh, she's blonde though, so it's not _that_ creepy yet. Is it???
- - well, i guess there needs to be some sort of difference so you can tell us apart. but i'm betting she has blue eyes. am i right?
Of course!
I like these updates real success stories. Your hair looks great
nice colour too. Glad the water only routine works for you I could never do it but others like you have success with it.
Cheers
Kevin
I can only do it in the winter - summer's way too hot and humid to attempt the water-only. I appreciate your comment!
The color of your hair is like the colors of the spices in the jars in the backround. Spicey hair!
Carol
I was trying to work that into my original post somehow, but couldn't find a way to make it fit. I'm glad other people had the same idea in mind, though! Thanks a lot for the comment, Carol. I liked your update and it's really nice to see the progress your hair is making - I can see the hair that's growing back and I can tell already that it's going to look very nice! I'll probably comment on your post later, but I've not the time right now.
All the very best. Jonathan
Thank you very much for the comment! I hope my next update is a little more enthusiastic too. In the past I've done some pretty long-winded rightups, but I've got a lot going on now that makes everything hair-related feel a bit more tedious than it usually does. You guys have all given me a bit of a boost, though. If only I could read comments BEFORE I get the updates done, I'd probably do them a lot better :)
Wow. Your hair looks awesome.
I hope to reach what you just reached in another year (I just passed the 2 year mark, 3 years are my next goal (after that maybe terminal)
W/O-wash seems really to work for you. I wanted to try it out a few months ago, but didn't get the guts to do so. The reason is that I think my hair would look even more messy and greasy than it does anyway. I sometimes really don't feel that well with it (normally short before my next wash). So I wouldn't get through the stage where your hair has to get used to W/O. Other people would recognize it and I would receive even more negative comments about my hair which are the last thing i need (There are also positive ones (mainly when my hair is in good shape), depends on the people....normally I don't care for negative comments, but when my hair looks too messy/greasy I even myself have to support them). Maybe I'll give it another try in a few months with the support of the mlhh. :)
How do/did you mangage W/O?
Anyway your hair looks superb and suits you really well (and it's in good condition), especially with that chemise and beard. That's an awesome progress for 3 years of growth.
Good luck at reaching your goal!
I'm surprised to hear that you don't get a lot more positive comments for your hair. I can think of plenty to give, but I'd be hard-pressed finding the time to make the list. I think you'll reach my length in another year, but you've got such great tight curls that it might not show as well. Which is the best compromise ever!
Water-only wash doesn't work for everyone, so I don't endorse it like I do with some other things. It doesn't even always work for myself. I've done WO for a few months before, and I kind of rotate my routine depending on..well, a lot of things.
Thanks a lot for the comments, Herb! And good luck to you, too.
That's a lot of hair for just three years, Glyfi, and so thick too!
Enjoying the cooler MN weather?
Mouse
I'm glad it hasn't slowed. I'm definitely enjoying the cooler weather (that's a complete understatement) but I'm a little disappointed it's taken this long to come around. We had 3 feet of snow this time in 1996!! Well, I think that's the year anyways. I just remember I couldn't get out the door on halloween.
you should be a viking for halloween!
But the fun in Halloween is dressing up as something else. I still have a few days to decide.
