I finally had a chance to get photos done, only to lose my digicam's data-cable. I ordered a replacement, which arrived Saturday. So I can finally post pics. Please note, I am very shy, so I'm having a bit of anxiety, but here it goes!
This is growing it out from chin link in the summer of '06. I had also lost a lot of hair, it's still somewhat thin on top, but I have lot's of new baby hairs growing, now that I am being treated for the two problems which led to the hair loss in the first place. I have babyfine supersoft hair, been that way all my life. I don't have a large tail, as my hair is this, as well as fine. I can do a small braid, which is how I wear my hair at night. And if you see reddish coklors, it's because I have strawberry blonde highlights. Now I can officially join the directory. Yeah!
Carol
Hi Carol,
At long last, an update from you! I know you are very shy, so congratulations for posting these photos, as I know it took a lot of courage on your part for posting them. Your hair looks great now, the colour is wonderful, and of course, I am so happy for you that your hair is thickening up, and that the conditions that caused your hair loss are being treated. Hopefully, your hair will continue to thicken and grow, and then you will find that your ponytail thickness will increase as well. I don't know if you have a final goal, but hopefully, you will consider waist length or longer.
Congratulations on the weight loss, and keep up the good work! Of course, I am sorry to hear about the accident you had in 1993.
Take care,
David
I can always count on an encouraging post from you, David. I'm aiming for waistlength, but might very well go longer. I had waistlength in my teens, though at one point I did reach tailbone. I plan on mostly ignoring it, save for the occassional S&D, and let it grow to whatever.
Hugs,
Carol

Always have been very shy and withdrawn. The why of it may have something to do with having an Autism Spectrum Disorder called Asperger's Syndrome. Like many people with ASD's, I find the internet a much easier environment to socialize. Thanks for the compliment!
Carol
It's good to see ya after all this time. I'm glad to hear that things are looking up for you. You look very happy in your pictures and I hope you will continue to post pictures of your progress.
jeffrey.
People tell me all the time that I look happy. I do possess a positive personality, and dislike too much strife or negativity. I can't promise when I'll work up the nerve to post pics again, but I'll try. Thanks.
Carol
Heeeeeeey JustCarol, it's good t' see the young lass I've communicated w/ at length in the past! You've got an admirable length for those of us hair farmers here who wanna run the race of hair cultivation. And, ya've got the same reddish-auburn-y colour my father's side o/t family has, those that aren't Sicilian, that is.
And, be it known by these tenets thatcha look TWO DECADES younger 'an you are. No way would I've guessed your chronological age. Yeesh. Very pretty eyes, too, BTW. Nice gazebo, also.
Yours in length lengthening adventures,
Quenyan
Currently, I'm averaging about an inch every six weeks. So, in over one year since chin length, I've gone to below my shoulders. Don't know if that growth rate will continue. No Sicilian, but Celtic. On my father's side of the family tree; French people from Gaul and some Irish.
Two decades? You flatter me, and I'll take it! :-) Thanks for the compliments.
Carol
Thank you for the compliments.
Carol
And ever so well you did as I can also relate to not exactly being fond of the lens of a camera. Your hair is looking really great and I want to thank you for all of the positive postings that you have brought with you to this board. They have been most appreciated.
I took over 100 pictures, before narrowing them down to a few dozen, of which I posted even less of here. I have really enjoyed my time thus far on the hyperboard, and hope to spend much more. Thanks for your comments.
Carol
Hi Carol!
Congrats on "officially" joining the mlhh; your post is wonderful. Its great to finally see the "lady behind the post" if you will. Your hair looks great ... and the color is superb as well.. Why is it that alot of dark haired people want blond and alot of blond haired persons want the dark?? I guess the grass is always greener applies here huh?
Congrats on the weight loss as well.. I know first hand what kind of determination and dedication that takes ... so my bandanas off to you! :)
Take care and keep the posting up!
Be Blessed...
Tristan
I would not look good with dark hair, and my blonde hair is naturally darker than you see here, I overall highlight it, to bring out the colors I had in my teens and early 20's. The highlight are only two shades ligfhter than my natural color, and I only treat the roots, and never pull-through the solution. This reduces any damage to the hair, plus I super condition once a week.
Actually, it hasn't been that hard. I just changed how and what I eat. I kind of follow The ZONE plan, which emphasizes high-fiber complex carbohydrates and low-gylcemic index foods. The loss has been slow and gradual. Which is said to be the best way.
I shall.
Blessings to you,
Carol
Hi Carol, it is great to see some pictures of you as it always helps to have a face to go with the words! I guess maybe it is because people read so much into a face when they see one, kind of a quick assessment of someone's character. Even if it isn't always correct it seems our brains want to think they know the whole story about someone else lol.
I am glad you got your camera setup working Carol. You look great in these pictures Carol, not anxious at all but instead having a lot of fun. It is fun showing off a bit on the internet lol. I really like your hair, the colors in it blend so well together. I do like the stawberry blonde and your hair looks really soft too, very nice!
I woudn't worry about the bagginess of clothes, losing weight is the best of reasons to have that problem. If you are able to lose even more weight I can see why you would want to wait before buying more new clothes. And its great that you don't have any wrinkles at 46, I have a few lines where they weren't before and I am only 44 lol. Good that some things go your way :)
I enjoyed the view from your apartment, we don't have much color here yet, a few trees starting to turn but nothing worthy of the shots that animosity and Jason have posted. Well it would help if I actually took out my camera and looked for some shots.
Carol I did enjoy the fall yesterday, went to the last day of the Maryland Renaissance Festival. I was able to go because I had abandonned my previous low carb diet that was starving me. I was able to go the faire and partake of lots of nice juicy carbs lol and had more energy than usual. Hopefully sometime you will be able to come, maybe next year we will both be better then.
I am so glad you posted these pics and you really should put a picture in to Oren for your directory avatar. This one would do well in my opinion but everybody has their own favorites lol
Ooooh, so maybe it's better to see the personality first, and see if the face later fits. Gee... I hope I didn't dissappoint anybody! :-D
I took over 100 pictures, and culled out the acceptable ones. Most of them were dreadful. A 10-second timer is not enough to strike a pose. I had a hairdresser of over 15 years that used to fawn over my hair. She would gush at how soft and superfine it is. She didn't have any clients with hair like mine. Mine is the texture of a toddler's hair, it has been that way always.
I have an arsenal of large safety pins, they come in handy when needed. Since the weight slowly continues to go down, as long as I can make do with safety pins and the sewing machine, to bring in waistlines, I will. My mom really was delayed in the wrinkle department, I inherited it from her, I am sure. Plus, I avoided too much sun, and stayed away from tobacco use.
Yeah, Maryland isn't all that exciting, and with the water shortage, it may not be. DavidN and Jason have all of those gorgeous maple trees. I'd like to get some mountain shots, and some of the more natural areas here in Northern Frederick County, and perhaps in nearby Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Ren Fest does sound like lot's of fun. Someday I just may find a way to get myself there.
I did send in a pic for the directory, but not the one you picked. Sowwy! :-P
Thanks for your comments,
Carol
great to finally see you Carol! I'm glad that you decided to share these pictures with us. You have no need to be shy, Carol, You're looking great! Thanks for sharing these with us, Have a nice day.
Awwww... thank you! The shyness is the Asperger's Syndrome thing. It's a type of high-functioing autism. Brainiacs (I have an IQ in the 140's range) coupled with social anxiety and awkwardness. I have always been acutely shy, though the internet makes it a little easier to socialize. You have a nice day too!
Carol
Don't be shy Carol, it's just us! Your hair is lookin' beautiful, nice color. Contrats on the weight loss, it ain't easy. Unlike other addictions.. smoking and drinking, you can't give up eating!
Thanks for sharing,
Bruce
Once I get to know people and an environment better, it becomes easier to overcome the shyness. So, yeah, it's just you all, but you all do make me feel a bit more at ease. Can't give up eating, but I could, and did, change how and what I ate. The weight loss just turned out to be a surprising natural side effect of that. Thanks for the compliments.
Carol
for a shy person, you sure post a lot of pictures! but i'm glad you did... it's nice to see the happy face behind the happy posts!
congrats on the health successes! i know you have a long way to go, but some progress is certainly better than no progress. i wish you the best!
oh, and i LOVE your glasses. super cute!
peace and hugs,
nic
Well, I can't promise you will see too many too soon. But I'm trying to be less of a stranger.
Thank you. I don't have any goals in mind, I'm just letting things go as they are.
Thanks! Calvin Klein designer frames I bought from an eBay liquidater for a fraction of the price.
Peace and hugs to you too, nic,
Carol
Hey Carol, great to see you at last, and really super pictures too. Thats a great strawberry blonde colour you have there, very unusual. Thanks for taking the time to post and thankyou also for your kindness and support to others since you found us.
See you around!
Dave
Those strawberry blonde highlights, really came out in these pictures. My hair is more of a honey-caramel color. Thanks for the comments!
Carol
Hi Carol
I must say the pictures are very nice and it feels like at long last we get to meet Just Carol, and she's lovely. I too am somewhat an introvert and hate my picture being taken but grin and bear it from time to time so I know how you feel. The last photo of me posted to the board was taken in Germany at John B's campsite where I was on a visit. I was full of Vodka by that time and don't remember it being taken and they didn't get my good side. LOL
Thanks for sharing a bit of yourself see you around the board
Cheers
Kevin
Thanks for the comments! It tok over 100 pictures to find the few showing my 'good side'. The great thing about digital cameras.
Carol
Hi Carol, nice to put a face to the name.
That was some update, great pics, well done on losing weight.Hope life is good , take care Jonny H uk
Thanks for your comments!
Carol
Carol,
You know what, you have nothing to be shy about. You're very beautiful, and I must say the strawberry blond hair with the blue-green eyes is a gorgeous combination. And on top of that to be 46 with a complexion like your's is amazing! Walk proudly in those baggy clothes too...you've earned it.
You're such a wonderful, supportive, knowledgeable member of the board, Carol. It's been great to have you around, and I'm so glad you're going to officially join the directory.
Mouse
Awwww.. I don't know what to say. Such sweet comments. I guess I'll just say "thanks".
Carol
Looks very nice! You got a bit of wave on the ends, so do I, your eyes are great too :).
-Josh
Thank you! Yeah, I've always had a slight wave on the ends. Even when I had waist to tailbone length in my teens, the ends sort've done this little dip thing. Thanks for your comments.
