Just got back from a hike in the Redwoods.
Great photo Steve. That tree is huge. Your hair looks great too. Where was this? Maybe down the pennisula?
I would be into hiking with you some time.
Scott
This was in Big Basin. If anybody wants to join us, it's probably just a question of making sure we have enough transportation.
Cool, I have a car that can seat 4 people. I see that Big Basin is about 13 miles south of Redwood City. (in a straight line) Are there a few paved roads up there? Google Earth shows what looks like mostly dirt roads.
Scott
The road is paved all the way , but it's very narrow and windy in places.
Hi Steve,
As always, great hair, and just so thick. The size of these magnificent trees just blows me away. I plan to get to California in the spring of 2009, and definitely plan to visit San Francisco and then drive north along the coast towards Oregon. I don't know how close the redwood trees are to San Francisco, but would love the opportunity to see them, if they are not too far off the beaten track.
All the best,
David
Steve, man, incredible pix.
Great day in the Kingdom o/t Trees that must've been.
Wish I could attend a foray w/ some of our fellow longhairs
from here. Whoa. T' think that the world, esp. Europe, was once graced by these majestic, arboreal specimens and that they've dwindled down to such numbers.
Hair question: Is your hair, as wavy as it is, two-toned due to an earlier "lifting" as would be the parlance of hair colorists, or is it just fr. oxidizing, due to its length?
Great hair, in other words, Steve. Thanks for posting . . .
Quenyan
It's got some natural color variation, although I think what you are seeing is more due to light and shaddow on different locks.
It's never been dyed.
Unless one has actually experienced what it is like in a Readwoods Forest, they just wouldn't believe the magnificence of what it is to behold in person. Great photo and superb long hair! Thanks for sharing this with us.
Hi Steve..
Great pic! I've never been able to see the Redwoods; but its on my list of things to do.. Thanks for sharing..
Tristan
btw... your hair looks great as usual too..
That is one giant tree Steve! You look like some sort of tree-hugging California Druid there :)
Is this what happens to pragmatic Easterners when they go out West to that damn hippie state!? LOL
Cool the way your hair matches the color of the tree, nice of Mother Nature to grow that tree just for this shot!
Take care Steve and keep posting more great pictures
Haha. My thought at the time was to hold out my arms to demonstrate how wide the tree is; but I guess it does look like I'm trying to give it a hug.
Color fidelity was not so hot here. It might have had something to do with us being in deep shade, as it was late afternoon. The flash went off too, but is far enough away to not really do anything. The shirt is actually a lot more purple in real life. Color fidelity is *tough* to get right.
Great pics Steve, fantasic hair! I love the the nature pictures all of you guys share with the rest of us. (I gotta get out more!)
Bruce
If you are trying to hug that gargantuan tree, you aren't gonna make it. :-) Those redwoods make people look so small and insignificant, compared to their massive trunks and majestic heights. And of course, we mustn't overlook the magnificent mane of hair on your head.
Carol
That's amazing and I do so love these tree posts.
Thanks for sharing.
Kevin
Uh, you ARE a hippie.
