Does anyone recall the old Teen Magazine he/she hairstyling contests, from the early-mid 1970s? It was an annual affair with girls styling their boyfriends' (or some lucky volunteers') hair, usually in rollers or braids. It was certainly one of my first windows onto the wonderful world of hairdos, and one of the impetuses for my girlfriend to start doing my hair. (We never entered the contest, tho...)
You know, many many moons ago I saw a TV news "human interest" feature on just such a contest, where girls used long-haired guys as their "models" for hairstyles. It may very well have been one of these Teen magazine thingies.
Did the magazine just sponsor the contests, or did they actually feature photos? Shouldn't be TOO hard to track down back issues at some library.
I hadn't heard of those before, but WOW!.....talk about something that would be worth its weight in gold at thi site if you could find some back issues.

Teen Magazine also did a few issues on boys with long hair in 1963. I well remember it as I had a pretty good head of hair at the time my self. I was especially interested in seeing how the styling was done. It all came to am abrupt halt on Aug. 8 of 63 when all of my hair ended up on the floor of the Lackland AFB barber shop, Yes the Air Force had me and gone was my hair.
