Hey how r u all??.... I've been visiting these boards for a long long time... I used to be a member under the name of salidbar, but after nearly a year of growing my hair I decided I had to have it cut. The main reason being that I needed a job and I went to a couple of interviews with my hair the way it was and each one of them I had been turned down. But coincidentially as soon as I got my hair cut, the very next interview I went to I got a job. And I have been working there now for over a year!! I can't understand peoples problem with long hair! So now that I have the job, I have taken up the opportunity to grow my hair again!!! and already I have gained good length.... and for some reason my hair seems to be growing a lot smoother than the first time I had grown it! Is there any reason for this??? I mean the first time I grew it, the awkward stage was terrible, but now it doesnt seem so bad.. I can't understand it... I'll post up pictures soon..
Welcome!
There is a wonderful local band in the New Orleans area with the same name! Are you from that part of the world?
Hey Man Thanks.... I'm from Ireland..... Rattlesnake Shake is a famous blues song by Peter Greens fleetwood mac. Check it out on youtube, u'll love it :-P
I remember you, Salidbar, --- welcome back!!
I feel it's so unfair that men have to feel pressure to cut off their manes in order to successfully get a job in most fields. I even remember when I took a 4-day course offered by the Employment Development Dept. back in the late 70s, where the teacher said, "if you're a man with long hair, you'll need to cut it for job interviews in order to get a job; but, once you land the job, THEN it's OK in most work settings to grow long hair."
My hair was relatively short back then when I took that class; but, I did what that teacher suggested, anyway, since I was changing careers at that time. But, I still feel that is TOTALLY unfair... women NEVER have that pressure on them to have to cut in order to get a jo; so, why should men?

Hey thanks Ken....
It really is a mixed up world. If people would care for the earth as much as they care about guys with long hair, maybe we would live in a much better place.
Until that day!
You asked: "women NEVER have that pressure on them to have to cut in order to get a jo; so, why should men?"
heres your answer:
Its the same reason why a girl can dress like a boy and thats ok but if a BOY dresses like a GIRL hes instatly "gay". Girls get away with pretty much everything now a days. Theres a laundry list of double standards that work in women's favor. Also everyone is tons nicer to girls than guys.
Is it possible you are now used to long hair in general, and having experience of the hair during the awkward stage, it no longer seems as "different" or "strange"?
In any case, good to see you got a job and welcome back.
Thanks for the welcome man, you could be right.. Whatever the case may be, I can't wait for my jim morrison style hair to come back!!!!!! :-)
Welcome back! Perhaps all that you experienced and learned the first time around has paid off. Your treating your hair better, using a better shampoo or conditioner, or eating better. Could be something like that. So congrats on growing your hair and not having a bad awkward stage.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce!!!!!! hopefully it continues without any problems...
Hi RattlesnakeShake,
Although I have never had the chance to say hi to you before, and you probably don't know who I am at all(since I joined about 13 months ago), I would like to extend my warmest welcome back to you, and glad that you are posting again. Perhaps, I will get to "know" you a little better this time! Of course, I am so happy for you that your hair is growing better this time around, and that the awkward phase is easier as well. Of course, I will be looking forward to your photos!
Take care, and welcome back!
David

Welcome back and hopefully your new job will be cool with you re-growing your hair.
