I use mink oil for some of my leather shoes and it makes them very comfortable to wear. Just the other day I tried it on my hair and after trying a great many products I believe that the mink oil most closely resembles the natural oils of the scalp. If you want to add beautiful shine to your hair and reduce tangles at the same time you might want to give it a try. It honestly makes my hair look like it did when I was in my teens.
BTW: This seems to be a natural product, free of harsh and/or harmful ingredients.
jeffrey.
I'm using cocos oil - nice taste.
Stuff like that keeps me hungry all day :)

Thanks for posting the mink oil tip, Jeffrey.
I've known of its superlative leather conditioning capability.
Sounds koo. Only worry izzz, mightn't it change the colour?
I'm jus' thinkin' mink . . . fur, dark, chestnutty, ya know.
Inquisitively,
Quenyan
You may have a point there. I certainly hope it would not change the colour. Well, actually, that might be a good thing for me. I will know fairly soon. I used it all day today and for the first time in a very long time I had no frizzy hair and the texture and shine was fabulous. This stuff lasts all day while the other stuff lasts only a short while. At this point I think it is without equal.

...made of mink? :(
I think they just milk them :)

At least it's not baby oil. :)
Jeffrey;
Thanks for the tip: The following is from Wikipedia.....make sure you check the link to sebum...there is a very interesting diagram showing the relation to human hair:
Walter
"...Mink oil is made from the thick fatty layer minks have just under their skins. This fat is removed from the pelt when the mink is skinned and is then rendered into mink oil. Mink oil is a source of palmitoleic acid which possesses physical properties similar to human sebum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebum), therefore mink oil is used in several medical and cosmetic products. Mink oil is also favored for treating and preserving leather..."
Hey, thanks a bunch, Walter.
I'll have to read more about that. It really has made my hair just like it was when I was in my teens, other than the receding hairline :) The oils must be very similar. As long as it doesn't cause any problems then I plan on making it my primary "leave-in" conditioner.
Thanks again.
jeffrey
bummer.
Hey if you're looking for animal free product you could try macadamia nut oil its supposed to have the same fatty acid that is the main source of the mink oils powers.
