Hi Herb,
I was going to reply to your thread but it's moving down the board very fast, lots of activity lately.
I'm glad you saw my earlier posts about Wacken I had a great time and also met a lot of cool people and longhairs everywhere. Although it's a big festival it's very flexible that is if your not in the mood to be in huge crowds you can step aside or just chill out at the campsite. I don't know if you saw the video I shot and put on youtube but I was having a chill out moment with John B. We had just seen a few bands, very good bands but the crowds were thick. I wanted to go see Type O Negative but the throng of people was too much and I was
content on standing by a food vendor and shooting video of people
milling about, besides Type O wasn't all that great. Their studio stuff always seems to be better. Later that evening we hit the Vodka hard at Johns camp and hence that picture.
As for the expense side of it there are tricks to keeping things cheap. I won't go into them here but if you want to hear more e mail me and I'll tell you the rest of the story.
Here are the links to the video if you haven't already seen them.

Hi, Kevin.
Thank you a lot for your reply.
I saw the photo with John.B and you but havn't seen the video yet. It demonstrates the stage area very well and you also feel what the Wacken-spirit must be like when you watch this video. There was great weather aswell, mine (another festival) was very rainy. But I still think that it was a great time and a great experience. All those long-hairs were a great inspiration, too. I never saw so many of them. Before I decided to go there I considered to go to Wacken but all tickets were already sold out when I decided to go there although chances were very high to get a ticket that is sent back...I didn't know that, so I searched for an alternative which was the Party.San. Although I didn't know most of the bands before (why I informed myself about them and listend their Myspaces before I went), the music overall was great. The most famous bands that played there were Dying Fetus, Gorgoroth, Kreator, Asphyx, Merciless (the only band I didn't see at all unfortunately) and Malevolent Creation. But a small but old band called Pentacle impressed me even more. Maybe not for their musical skills or their music (although their music really is not too bad, I liked it) but for how their gig worked: Plenty of rain was coming down during their gig, but I stayed anyway and just shook my mane to their music. Their musical style (thrashy Old School Death Metal) suited the situation perfectly and the band appeared very nice and open to the audience aswell. Maybe it sounds dumb, but this little gig was a kind of climax for me (although it was the first day of the festival), it had something very special. I'll never forget that. An amazing atmosphere according to all aspects.
Maybe I go to Wacken in 2008 and we can meet there each other (if you want). I heard several times that Wacken has an atmosphere which is unreached by any other festival, so I think it would be a great experience for me. But it's a long time until then...
